Wahoo Grill - Fantastic place for brunch! 2/2/2012

Pam the owner accommodated about 30 of us from The Atlanta Running Meetup a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning for brunch. I made reservations with her about a week before, and we couldn't have asked for better service. The food was fantastic, and the staff were professional and courteous. At one point Pam came over to our tables and asked if the temperature in the room was comfortable for us. Pam takes a great deal of pride in what she does, and it certainly shows. I highly recommend it. more

Wahoo! Grill 2/2/2012

On Saturday night four of us ate at Wahoo! Restaurant in Decatur. We enjoyed the interesting, eclectic d?cor; the comfortable informal atmosphere; the friendly, helpful staff; the delicious food. We began with pomegranate martinis, which were smooth, sweet, light, fruity, which is how I like them. I had scallops piccata, with rice and asparagus, as I enjoy the taste of lemon. The scallops were perfectly cooked, which is hard to do; restaurants tend to overcook them a bit. They were a little breaded but not excessively so. The rice and asparagus were perfectly cooked for my taste as well. My dinner companion thought his Scottish salmon was ?excellent?. For dessert we had bread pudding and chocolate bliss cake, both delicious. We sat and talked and watched the MARTA train whiz by in the rainy night outside, lights illuminating the darkness. Wahoo! is a lovely place to go with friends. more

Great Winter Menu! 12/30/2011

We just dined at Wahoo last week. They have their new winter menu out. It has some fabulous things on the menu. As much as I love their fish entrees, the pork loin is to die for! I would not have chosen the sides it came with, but I ended up really enjoying the combination of flavors! Guess that is what makes a good chef, and why I keep going back to one of my favorite restaurants! See you there!!! more

Wahoo-A Decatur grill. When you first see the place, you think to yourself, hmmm? Once you enter, you take it all back. It's so cozy and homey. You are welcomed by a very enthusiastic staff that will continue to WOW you with its ability to make your experience special. The food is EXCEPTIONAL. I can't say enough about it. I even tried the Eden Farms Pork Belly. Now this is something that is unique but what Chef Christian Speigel and his staff have done with this dish is marvelous. I indulged in the Seared Blue Fin Tuna for my entree and my date had the Pastachio Encrusted Mahi Mahi with Sea Scallops which I also tasted. It was fantastic. The Mahi was so fresh. We finished the nmeal with the Bliss Cake. We were told by by the that it was made ""inhouse"" and was a recipe of the owners. He also mentioned that the Bread Pudding is also made ""inhouse."" So we'll definately have to go back to find out if the Bread Pudding is as good as the Bliss Cake.It was truly WONDERFUL. If you like great food and great service, go and see the little gem. It's definately worth the time. more

Wahoo! Great Food Great Service Excellent Atmosphere! 12/13/2011

Cool place to try in Decatur: This is one of my favorite restaurants in Decatur. It has an upscale menu at reasonable prices. I've been twice for lunch and once for dinner. Because the restaurant is small, the dinner crowd makes it quite noisy and crowded as in any great restaurant, but it was still a lovely experience. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather, because I really want to check out the patio out back. It looks like it would be wonderful for intimate, romantic dinners and probably not as noisy. The food is great. I've head the mahi mah twice and really enjoyed it. I've also had the shirmp and grits, which I enjoyed and tasted the seared Tuna (which was excellent). That will be my next entree to try. The service has always been excellent. So, if you are looking for a small out of the way place that serves very good food and has a really nice atmosphere, check out the Wahoo Grill. more

So So. I cook much better food at home, and I'm no chef. 12/31/2010

I've been twice now. Both times were so so. I'm not very picky, but the food so far has been consistantly bland. My chicken was bland and it was a dish I cook much better at home (I wasn't expecting something I cook at home.) For the price, I thought it would be tasty, served hot, and at least plated nicely. The whole plate was blah and served lukewarm. more

32nd Wedding Anniversary not Wahoo! 8/26/2010

I recommended this restaurant to my husband on our 32nd anniversary. Though the food was good, service was friendly, and the atmosphere nice; it was not the best evening for us. The food arrived over 1 and half hours late and when it arrived, the trout was missing and the side i ordered was on my husband's plate. The bread pudding was good too. Maybe it was a bad night. Not Wahoo for us yet...we may give it another try. more

One Of My Favorites 8/18/2010

I've been going to Wahoo's now for the past years. It's one of those places you reserves for special occassions with family and friends, or to just drop in for a good meal and a good glass of wine. The food is good and the staff is outstanding. If you don't believe me, try it yourself? more

Outdoor Dining at its finest 2/7/2010

Here in Atlanta, we?re blessed with fantastic warm weather 7 to 8 months out of the year. This provides ample opportunity to hit the courts for some tennis, the course for a round of golf or to get on the bike and go for a ride. So now that we?ve got the beautiful sunny days covered, what about those long, sweet summer nights? when the sun is no longer beating down on you, the humidity has dissipated and you?re looking to get out into the night and enjoy a meal under the stars? Fortunately, the ATL boasts a plethora of restaurants with outdoor seating. BUT, I wanna clear something up and set the record straight right off the bat: simply putting tables outside a restaurant or on a sidewalk DOES NOT outdoor/patio dining make. A true patio or outdoor dining experience transports you away from the hustle, bustle of the city. Its void of all the sounds and smells of Atlanta traffic? it puts you in a place that is relaxing and inviting. And for my money, the best patio dining in Atlanta is at Wahoo Grill in Decatur. Sadly, the food at Wahoo will not blow you away. It?s good, not great. The menu has items that you?ve pretty much seen in one form or another on other menus, there?s nothing overly creative or different. But what Wahoo does have (and what they have is better than any other place in Atlanta) is a beautiful, fantastic patio out back. Instantly you can see that Wahoo has put significant time and planning into designing and maintaining their patio. When you walk out to the patio, you first notice that its covered with these white/light gray rocks that give it a nice, clean look that is different than any other restaurant patio you?ve ever seen. You look up and find yourself almost awestruck at how beautiful it is. There is an array of green trees and plants that surround and almost envelop the patio. You sit down for your meal and feel that you?re in someone?s private, manicured garden, or in a courtyard of a villa in the Italian countryside. It is simply that beautiful. The lighting is sufficient to allow you to see, but low enough to capture the intimacy and allure of true outside dining. It honestly feels as if you?re enjoying a meal in the beauty of the botanical gardens. Wahoo also gets it right in that they?ve set up their patio so that there is sufficient space between the tables, thus giving you and your dining companion(s) privacy from everyone else there. The patio could easily fit plenty more tables, but Wahoo has stayed committed to creating the best and most inviting outdoor dining experience in Atlanta. Something they have definitely succeeded at doing and something I know you will thank them for after you enjoy a meal at what is the best outdoor dining spot in Atlanta. Pros: phenomenal patio, very friendly staff Cons: good but not great food more

Great Atmosphere and Patio and the Food is Out Of This World 10/19/2009

As soon as you walk into Wahoo, you feel the good energy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff is so knowledgable and friendly. They have fair prices and the food is stupendous. The patio is like no other I have ever visited. I had the pleasure with meeting with Chef Scott on a couple of occasions when we visited and he is a mastermind. The menu is out of this world and there is no place like it! Pros: Best calamari in the world and the mussels AMAZING! Cons: Parking can be difficult but they have valet more

BUST THIS ECONOMY AT WAHOO! 10/8/2009

Best Patio in Atlanta - Creative Loafing 2009! But the real secret is the Bar! Thursday nights 1/2 off bottles of wine! and 2 for 1 appetizers from 5-7pm. BUST THIS ECONOMY AT WAHOO!!! Seafood Rocks! Gotta try the mussels and ahi tuna. Great Service! Pros: complementary valet parking more

Best Calamari Ever!! 10/6/2009

Wow! That's all I can say about the calamari. My partner and I had dinner at Wahoo and ordered the calamari. Granted, we have traveled quite a bit and have had calamari all over the world, but never as good as it was at Wahoo. Just proves the point that gems can be found in your own backyard. We are now Monday regulars. Pros: Friendly service with no rush. more

Best bartenders in town! 10/6/2009

Gomez and I sat at the bar and the two rockin' hot lady bartenders gave us a few laughs as well as some great deals. We had 2 for 1 appetizers and a half price bottle of wine. The patio looks super pretty - a garden room and an outside space- and maybe we'll try that next time. Pros: saving money makes me happy Cons: So many cars out front, BUT once inside there was no wait! more

The Best Pation Dining in Atlanta 10/4/2009

I go to Wahoo Grill more than any other restaurant in Decatur or Atlanta! My boyfriend and I love to be on their GEORGEOUS outdoor patio, especially on a beautiful fall day. The garden room is beautiful, too -it's all enclosed in glass and is a great option for when it gets a little chillier. If you dine there Monday through Thursday they offer an AWESOME pre-fixe menu with three huge courses for only $18. Which is great, becuase we can eat GREAT food, and still afford to splurge on some nice booze. They also have a great wine list and a really attentive and friendly staff. Totally go there! Pros: Service, Ambiance, and Food more
