Best

I really love this place. I have eaten here twice, the food was awesome, and we had the best waitor. Pros: Great location, great service, great food!

Worst

The Vox is attracting an interesting crowd - very young for a Back Bay restaurant. Upstairs, the service was terrible. The waiter was a bit rude and acted like we were a bother. T...

Crowded Swanky Establishment 4/16/2006

It's usually crowded downstairs with thirty-somethings filling the bar after work. Upstairs is a bit quieter if you want to be able to have a conversation. Drinks are about average price, and the appetizers are pretty good. I can't say anything about the entrees, since I've never gone here to sit and eat. Anyway, don't forget that they do have a business casual dress code. However, do stop by on a bar crawl along Boylston. more

Very yuppie 4/15/2006

Much like other bars like Felt and Gypsy, Vox attracts the same crowd. It's pretty big, and they serve food, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually eating there. The get a good crowd, but it's spacious enough that it's not too bad. The drinks are ok. If you don't like the scene, there's always the other bars on Boylston. more

Would Be Socialites Welcome only, Gourmands Might Seek Other Establishments 3/11/2006

I agree with the consensus in Boston as to the general feel and clientele of Vox. Patrons tend to be a mix of the aspiring YITs (short for Yuppies in Training) and the Not Quite Fashionistas who are looking to commune among the younger set yet to make a splash on the social scene. The alchohol is abundant and the banter less than witty as the younger GEN Y seek out the perfect accessory companion to cultivate their trendy urban image. While the venue is entertaining for the avid people watcher fascinated by my generations inability to learn art of flirting and foreplay, for diners like myself perpetuately in search of the perfect haven for the discerning palette Vox leaves everything to be desired as to its creations. The constantly changing menu rarely improves despites a quarterly attempt to see if the kitchen has changed. One item I do like is the lobster crepe if that has not yet disappeared from the rather sparce array of options as well. If considering dessert, it's best if a change of venue is made as there is no word to describe the poor quality of their desserts, at one time the menus only saving grace. more

Meat market in an upscale setting 9/9/2005

If you're looking for your newest hook-up/ throwaway relationship, head on over to the Vox and you won't be disappointed. Everyone there is looking to pick someone up or be picked up themselves. The crowd is mostly mid-twenties--- some are quite snobby and "holier than thou" while others are just content to show off their latest "it" bag or "lacoste" polo. It's quite a funny scene. Bartenders are friendly and generous with the pouring of spirits in mixed drinks. Decor is typical of an upscale bar- nice and neutral for the most part. Beware the stairs if you're wearing a skirt though! I noticed last time that some guys had parked themselves under the staircase and were attempting to "get a better view". Gross! more
