Well, if you are looking for good, flavorful, southern-style food this is NOT your place. The pot roast is tough and stringy, gravy tastes straight from a can, bland chicken and ...

So worth the stop. 4/18/2012

I have been eating at vittles since we moved to tennesse. It has all homemade food. The service is good and it is a place I can come and I am welcomed. The owners are always welcomeing. im very impressed by vittles. more

Very Disappointed 9/2/2011

The first time I ate at this restaurant the food was great, that was three years ago. I am in the military and when I would fly in I would always make this my first stop. The last two times, however, the food has been less than desirable. The greens were cold, and the mac was very bad, runny and appeared to be dumped straight from the box. Did you all hire a new cook? The service and customer service was great, but the food is simply terrible. want eat here again. Also, I ordered the Southern fried Chicken, and I was served an over cooked flatten chicken breast that taste like it had been cooked in fish oil. The bathroom wasn't clean as well. I say if the bathroom isn't clean then the food is suspect. I want recommend this restaurant. more

never again! 2/11/2011

To operate in a southern city, they have a lot to learn. Food taste like it was prepared for a prison in New York. In fact, I bet prisons have better food. There is only one place in Brentwood to compare.......thats the city cafe. Both are poor excuses for southern food. I can show you truck stops that serve better food! more

Great meal, great service. Loved it 9/6/2010

We love to eat at the little Mediterranean Cuisine in Maryland Farms, but being Labor Day, it was closed. So, we took a chance on Vittles. What luck! The atmosphere was open, friendly and breezy, the service cheerful and prompt. It was the FOOD that made our day though. My wife had a veggie plate with fried corn that would have made my mama proud. I had for once chicken livers that were by far the best I have ever had. Can't comment on the desserts, the list was long and looked tempting, but I could not even begin to eat one of the corn muffins I was so full. If you want real NON CRACKERBARREL cooking, this is the place. more

Best Place Ever!! 4/26/2010

I had an awesome experience at this place. The food is amazing! I was a little skeptical of the ""Meat and 3"" at first because it made me think of cafeteria style food-Definitely not the case. My co workers would go on and on about this Vittles place so I finally gave in and went in one evening with my wife and we LOVED it. They literally have the best pot roast I have ever had. They said its slow cooked all night and is ready to go by lunchtime-it falls apart and melts in your mouth. And the fried chicken tenders were HUGE too-they're really, really juicy . They've got about 30 vegetables you can choose from and they give you 2 or 3 to pick out with every meal. Our waiter was great too. My wife and I aren't really used to having a really personable waiter/waitress, but this kid takes the cake. He has a witty sense a humor and a fantastic argument as to why he waits tells you his name after you place your order, ask him ... This is hands down an A+ restaurant. And it will definitely stay in my top 3- if not number 1 Pros: Fried Chicken Tenders and POT ROAST Cons: They close at 8 more

Vittles is the best 3/22/2010

If you want to enjoy a great dining experience then you need to eat at Vittles. I eat at Vittles at least twice a week and my food is always great. The owners treat you like family, the servers are incredibly friendly, and the cooks deliver a high quality meal. You will not find a better place in Nashville that serves vegetables this good! All the desserts are fabulous as well. If you are in the Brentwood area, Vittles is a must for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Pros: food, service, and people more

fabulous food and service! 3/21/2010

I am single, and eat out 90% of the time. My favorite place to eat, by far, is Vittles. They are a wonderful, home-style food restaurant. Vittles is always clean, and the employees are very efficient and friendly. You always see a smiling face. Not only is the food excellent, but I see country music stars, song writers, and Titans football players enjoying their meals. It's a great place to eat, and I've never had one complaint. I highly recommend you try it! Pros: nice people, fast serivce, good prices, excellent food more

I love Vilttles 3/19/2010

My family and I are regular Vittles customers, and have never had one bad experience. The reviews below me are outrageous and untrue...Vittles food is exceptional and one of a kind. The staff and owners are kind and friendly people who always make their guests feel like family. You might even catch a Titans player or country music star their every once in a while... I will be a life long customer of Vittles.... Pros: GREAT food on a budget Cons: The one in Hermitage closed =( more

Great Food and Great Price!! 3/19/2010

Everytime I have been to Vittles in Brentwood, I have had a great experience. Their food is great and prices you cannot beat at any other resturant for a meat and 3! Family owned and managed, great employees. I would highly recommended Vittles to anyone who loves down home southern cooking!!! more

Cold Food - Bad Service 2/20/2010

When I eat out I hate wasting money. This place served us cold food and the waiter really was not on top of anything. I have been there before and experienced the same thing. Since the manager is the owner, I would guess that nothing will ever change until it is sold or goes out of business. We certainly will not eat there again. I prefer to have hot food that is good. I cannot get that at this place Cons: food is low quality more

Excellent service and food 1/21/2008

I don't think goloth actually went to Vittles when they wrote their review. They mentioned waiting for their credit card to be returned to them when they paid and Vittles doesn't do that. You pay at the register. more

If not for the food this place would fail on all accounts 11/19/2007

After reading of the high praise in some of the reviews I decided to visit this restaurant for the first time; What a mistake that was. Pros: The food was outstanding Cons: The service and the attitude of the wait staff was unaceptable. more

amazingly affordable!!! 8/5/2006

my family and i were very pleased with the price & quality of the food, not to mention the positive attitude of the workers. its in a nice part of town, and plenty of parking. another thing we liked is the fact that it was open early, 7:00 am. (which is good, when your hungry, at breakfast-time) if the LORD is willing, and im still alive, i'll be back! Pros: good value for the money Cons: none! more

Highly recommend 1/4/2006

I really like this restaurant. It is unassuming, peaceful, and family-oriented. The food is good home-cooked meals. Yes, no fancy flair, but that's just fine. If you want to pay for fancy, go somewhere else. The prices are excellent and the food is plentiful. I haven't had a bad meal ... nothing greasy ... nothing a disappointment. I'm sorry that some reviewers have had disappointing visits ... This restaurant's name itself should tell you that it's basic, home-cooked meals without charging for the frills. The food is very similar to what my grandmother served and eating at Viddles takes be back to when I was a girl. Thank you, Vittles!! Pros: good food, great price, friendly staff more

VITTLES 7/29/2005

I'm glad I didn't read some of these reviews before I ate there last September, 2003! The food is good, prices fair! The atmosphere outside the restaurant is the same as with others around town!! My food was not greasy or too salty! I don't consider Vittles a wannabe Cracker Barrel!! July 6th, 2005 Im appalled at some of the remarks several people have made here. If they don't like the food there they should just eat at home and have their usual frozen meal!! They obviously have taste buds that aren't working properly! :) I found the food to be delicious and I savored each bite. And I was brought up eating food, homemade from scratch, by my late mother! She was a wonderful cook and I miss her very much and all of her southern style food made with love! Pros: atmosphere, food quality more

I'll be driving 700 miles for this !!! 7/20/2005

Ignore the pompous foodies and the fools comparing this down home cooking to Cracker Barrel ! I'm a NYer and, although I'm not opposed to spending $300 for dinner for 2 for insanely phenomenal food, this place ranks in the top 10 for places I've eaten on the road ! The pot roast on homemade white bread was simple, well seasoned, absolutely delicious ! I discovered this place on my last day in Brentwood after a 10 day stay on business. had it been sooner, I'd have eaten nothing but for the whole stay ! I've been dying to get back and will be taking a round-about trip home from Cincy next week just for a plate of pot roast ! Pros: Inexpensive, welcoming, delicious Cons: not in NY ! more
