Vision One Optometry

I took my husband to Dr. Nicholson at Vision One for an eye exam and new glasses. We received good service and found a pair of glasses my husband adores. My husband is very picky and we have spent tons of money on designer frames and such over the years just to find something that he liked. At Vision One we found a unique frame style which is different from the average frames you find everywhere else and at a good price. We are definitely going back next year! It is a really nice office too. more

I will never go back to Vision One ever again. After having to arguing with the receptionist about my benefit allowance ( she was telling me it was thirty dollars less ) I was finally able to order my contacts and was told I would be called in 7 to 10 days to pick up. When I got home and spoke to my insurance company and found out I was right about my benefit allowance I called Dr. Nicholson's office and was able to get "office credit" (what BS). Three weeks after not hearing from them I called several times and got a promise each time to get a call back after they looked into it, I finally asked to speak to the office manager and an hour later Dr. Nicholson called me back to tell me my contacts were back ordered. No apology for the delay, no apology for the many phone calls I had to make, no apology for receptionists error, NOTHING. I have decided to leave my "office credit" and go somewhere else, I'ts not worth the disrespect. more

If you thought the DMV was bad, think again. This was by far the lousiest customer service experience I have ever had. If you want a bunch of inept, rude and incompetent staff memebers to serve you-- I urge you to go to Vision One Optometry. more

I've been going to Dr. Nicholson for at least 10 years. I persuaded my boyfriend to start seeing him, too. I came onto citysearch to grab his phone no. to order my contacts for this year, and was very upset to read some of these reviews. My experience with Dr. N is 180 degrees from these people who are complaining. I am sorry they had problems, but like about handicapped access, if you enter from Colorado, you can get right in to the desk, like 2 feet away, no step or anything. So that's not an accurate criticism, that there is NO handicapped access. But more importantly, Dr. Nicholson is a great guy, I have always had good results from his exams, and he has lots of options for contacts and selections for frames. Try him out, he's the best. Pros: Friendly, good staff, always have good experience Cons: Can't think of any more

I find most of the other reviews to this post completely suspect. Are you positive reviewers relatives of Dr. Nicholson??? I base my opinion on my own tragic experience with Dr. N and his staff. Cons: Worst Optomitrist Around more

Dr.Nicholson is very professional and his staff is too. The office is very big and they seem to have very high end equipment. I loved the huge selection of brand name frames that made it convenient to pick a pair after an examination. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr Nicholson may be terrific, but I'll never know, because there are no cuts in the curb to permit my wheelchair to get onto the ramp leading down to this office --it was (obviously) my first visit and maybe it was just as well because they had no record of my appointment. I called today to find out if the access problem had been fixed. When I announced the purpose of the call, she replied with the utmost exhaustion, "Yeahh, yeahh, yeahh, adding she'd heard that from "a lot" of people. more

First of all, I?ve read the reviews below and it?s hard to believe that we?ve gone to the same place!! The customer service that I experienced from the very first contact has been top notch. I phoned them up on my lunch break one day w/ a message prepared because I was almost certain the office was going to be closed for lunch, but to my surprise a cheery young lady picked up the phone. I needed an appointment ASAP and the young lady was able to fit me in for that same afternoon!! I got to the office and to be honest w/ you I had no clue what type of insurance coverage I had & they were able to figure everything out for me effortlessly. Before I knew it, I was already seeing the Doctor and what a great guy he is. He was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about his field. Plus the technology he is working with is just incredible. It made for on of the best eye exams I have ever had. I was interested in contact lenses and he tried a couple of different pairs in the office for me & let me take a pair home to try for week while he ordered a new pair that might be more suitable. I also ordered a pair of glasses there too, It was so hard to choose they have a really great selection I was able to narrow it down to a great rimless pair thanks to the optician. In a week I returned for my follow up and tried out the new contacts that the doc had ordered they were a perfect fit. Also on that same day I picked up my rimless pair of glasses and I am completely happy with them. I was afraid they were going to be a little hard to get accustomed to because I had decided to move on to a lens without the bifocal but they were great & they look 10x better without that ugly line from the bifocal. I also got transitions on them you know the kind that turn dark once you step outside! I haven?t taken them off since! I really enjoyed the service and have recommended them to almost everyone I know. more

After years of going here, you would think I wouldn't be shocked, but I am forever shocked and frustrated by the staff in this office. Literally, every time I go there, something goes wrong. I've been a patient there for years, and recently, they couldn't find my chart for 20 minutes. Previously, I was to see the Dr. in the San Marino office, and they didn't send my chart there. This was astonishing, as I stood in the Pasadena office and watched the Dr. ask one of the staff to have it sent over for an afternoon appointment. Never happened. Another time I went to pick up my contacts, and they couldn't find them or my file. It's truly a reality show. But a very frustrating one. They never get the charges right either, so check with VSP and know your benefits because the staff is clueless. I agree, Dr. Nicholson is great. But how great can he be, knowing this has been going on for years, and he still continues to hire young, pretty girls with no experience or ability to handle the smallest tasks that require very little brain power. I agree with the other review. Dr. Nicholson is friendly. But if anything goes wrong, the staff takes FOREVER to do anything. They didn't call me when my contacts arrived. When I called they kept telling me that the contacts weren't ready even when they were (I'm not even sure they checked). I'm not sure that a kind of nice optometrist balances out the inefficiency and seemingly lazy attitude of the staff Cons: LAZY STAFF more

My entire family has been going to Dr. Nicholson for about five years now. We absolutely love Dr. Nicholson. He is very informative and great with children. Yes, his staff is very friendly until you need their help, that's when you'll discover that they are extremely inefficient. My son needed to have his glasses repaired and they have literally taken over a month to get them fixed. I was once even told that they were ready and went to pick them up only to find them in the same broken condition they were in when I dropped them off! They don't even explain what is going on with the glasses they just keep giving me excuses about how they're short staffed. The office staff are very disorganized and unapologetic about their horrible service. I would recommend Dr. at another location maybe. I've been going to V-One for almost 10yrs. Dr. Nicolson carries the best selection of swedish hipster frames. His long time asst. Yvette is the best tech around. They are fair in price, honest and sincerely cool people. Can't say enough - love 'em! Pros: great selection, knowledgable, Honest more

The Dr. and staff are nice but they just can't seem to get it right. On more than one occassion they completely forgot to place my contact lense order. This place is desperately in need of some organization. Pros: clean office more

I've been going to Dr. Nicholson's for over five years now. His business is clean and professional and he and his staff are always pleasant and very likeable. With every visit he informs me of all of the latest technology and products for contact lenses and surgical procedures in a truly helpful way... he is not a salesman... just wants you to have great vision. A doctor who runs on time if you can believe it! Friendly and helpful staff. Appointments are quick and painless. Great selection of frames. Staff is super friendly. more
