Not as bad as the other reviews say 11/1/2011

I have lived here for nearly two years now and I just came across all the reviews on this site. I must say I have enjoyed my time here at the Village of Laurelwood. I feel like only the people who have had a bad experience here are the only one's who are leaving a review online. I'm here to tell you this place isn't nearly as bad as the others here are making it seem. The rent prices are very reasonable for the area, the apartments are pretty clean and the the neighbors have always been friendly. Maintenance has always been fast and helpful whenever I needed something. I use the gym quite often. It's not the biggest gym but it has a good variety of machines and it gets the job done. The pool is also nice if you care to use it. The only complaint I really have would be the cable/internet here. iSpeed is extremely slow and their customer service is terrible. Other than that I've got no complaints. more

Worst USA nightmare for New Tenants/Immigrants 6/2/2011

We love USA from the time we landed in this Country. But did we get a rude shock the treatment from Laurelwood (aka Betty). Before Betty the office mgmt folks were nice and courteous. With her arrival things changed and boy did things change for worse (customer service) at Laurelwood !!!!. They are using poor tenants to maximize their profit sucking thru artificially inflated maintenanace costs although regular wear and tear, poor construction materials are bigger factors. We have numerous stories of despair from unhappy tenants forced to pay hefty fines after vacating the apartments. It is clearly evident that the tenants are unfortunatley taken advantage of their short clenaup times, moving schedules etc as they are pressured by the Laurelwood office. They are definitely greedy and driven devilishly for money knowing well the demand for housing in Cranberry. I fel sorry for all the folks who had no choice but pay in desparation prior to moving out. I have never seen such a ill treatment/customer service during all my 20+ years of living in USA. This is not what Americans are about-such a shame. I am surprised no one has taken any legal action. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NO ONE TO MOVE INTO THIS GREEDY NASTY BUSINESS APARTMENT. PERIOD. more

worst deal for your money 1/31/2009

* Betty is a witch.\r \r * They require a $200 non-refundable pet deposit PLUS monthly pet rent.\r In my opinion, they should get one OR the other - not both. A while ago we adopted a cat and unfortunately, he had a peeing problem. He would tinkle all over the spare BR closet - which I'm assuming is the most popular place to store a litter box. Well, after we got rid of the cat, I ripped up the carpet, to replace it myself , and found that a previous tenant must of also had a cat because the sub-flooring was stained beyond belief. The maintenence crew who replaced the carpet didn't even put down padding. It was straight carpet over sub-floor. WTF? It was totally a half assed carpet job. If I am paying a non-refundable deposit AND monthly pet rent, where is that money really going? Obviously not to needed repairs!!\r \r * The in-house cable/internet/phone supplied by I-speed is an atrocity. It is the WORST service we've ever had. They are only open during BANK hours and are CLOSED on the weekend. They expect you to be ok with a stranger coming into your apartment while you're at work, yeah right! They never seem to be able to fix our problems either. The internet never connects, we pay for duplicate channels, and the picture is really fuzzy.\r \r * I highly do NOT recommend moving here. There seems to be an insect problem and I recently discovered that they are multiplying because I have worms all over my clothes hanging in my closet, GROSS!! \r \r * The lease is revolving and they require a THREE months notice or you're stuck here for another year. \r \r * People always park in your spot even though they are AWARE there is assigned parking.\r \r * In the winter, the icicles are like daggars and the awning is ghetto-rigged because the weight from the icicles and snow ripped it half way off the building. There is caution tape all over the main entrance - it looks like a death scene. \r \r THIS PLACE IS A SLUM!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: location Cons: everything else more

village of laurelwood + cranberry twp 10/25/2008

I agree with the person who wrote regarding the manager Betty. I have unfortunately lived here for two years, one in a 2 bedroom apt. and now in a townhouse. This woman, Betty, is very rude to the residents for no reason. When you call to ask for things to be fixed, she talks to you in a demeaning voice. She acts like absolutely NOTHING is an emergency. I have resigned myself to fixing all of the things that go wrong, and pay for it myself. I also agree that the terminator service stinks, the creepy crawlers just continue to come back, unlike the maintenance man, whom doesn't. the dude in the golf cart has come close to being run over numerous times as he just doesn't obey the rules of driving, esp. the speed limit. the cable/phone/internet service stinks, nothing ever gets fixed and it is overpriced. The rent goes up every year and the conditin of the place goes down. People are always parking in other people's assigned parking spaces and nothing is done to correct this problem. I do not advise anyone to rent from here as I am trying like mad to get out of here. Pros: close to everything Cons: everything more

Dont do it. 6/17/2008

The village of Laurelwood is run by a condescending bitter lady by the name of Betty. I use the term lady very loosely as it is insulting to females of any species to be held in the same grouping as this individual. I must be honest and say that I am sure that at some point in her life she was probably a nice person in some respects. Here is the problem; Betty has been doing this Job for so many years that she has become cold and disdainful to those around her. Yes, even to her staff. In her defense I must admit that anyone that deals with complaints on a daily basis will become less desirable, personality wise over time. And that my friend?s is were the problem lies. She simply has been doing this for much to long. She needs a break. She needs to walk away and try and remember how one is suppose to treat others in this game called life. When I tell her we need something fixed she tells me that they are just so busy that she can?t promise that they will get to it anytime soon. Folks, someone please tell me how that?s my problem? Would it be OK if I said well I am just so busy that I don?t think I am going to be able to write my rent check out this month? To make matters worse she has hired her son to work here as well. The kid looks like he is between 18-24 years old but he drives around in a golf cart blowing an air horn like I would imagine a 5 or 6 yr old would if they had the chance. To make a long story short in the event that you decide to move to Laurelwood do yourself a favor and find out if a lady by the name of Betty still works here. In the event that she is still a permanent fixture in the village ask to deal with a lady by the name of Deb. Deb is the only reason some of us still remain. For the money you pay to live here the conditions of the property are what you should expect. The apartments can be very nice but plan on doing your own work as good help is hard to find. Putting a cross on your door may help to keep the evil one out. Pros: Great location Cons: Betty more

Laurelwood = horrible service and horrible...EVERYTHING. 7/22/2007

People above us are super loud. They sound like elephants walking around...called rental office. Guy comes over and says he can hear people in the hallway but when he enters the apartment beside us (not the one directly below them, duuuuh) he can't hear anything. Never solved.\r \r Cable tv is poor. Clarity is average at best with shadows and snow across probably half the channels.\r \r Doors slam all the time. Place is very ""acoustic"" in that you can hear whenever someone is walking or opening/closing a door. \r \r Lights outside which illuminate the steps at night are broken. Never fixed. Nobody seems to park in their assigned space and when they do, they put half of their car in yours. \r \r It was between this apartment complex and one in zelienople. We both wish we would have chosen the latter. Laurelwood is a HUGE disappointment. They make a lot of money and don't put any of it into making the standard of living higher. Just a complete disappointment and junky place. Would not recommend to anyone who enjoys living in an enjoyable area.\r \r Has anyone rated these places high? If so, I haven't seen one positive review yet. Pros: Right in the heart of cranberry Cons: Everything pretty much more

Good appartment, bad internet service 1/28/2007

I did not make the experience with little craetures so far and I don't think that would happen to my appartment. I am living in one of the 1 bedroom appartments by the way. For me it is quite nice, I didn't have any problems so far. The staff is very helpful.\r \r But I am of the opinion, that the internet is of a poor quality. Sometimes it takes ages to get connected or you have other problems. And for a price of approx. 50$ a month (far to high) that is unacceptable! Cable also is to expensive, that's why I don't have it. It is true, that you can't choose the providers you want.\r \r So I should say: Living there is nice, just annoying internet and cable service. Pros: Good connection to everywhere you want to go, own parking space Cons: Internet, cable more

well, if you like little creepy creatures ... crappy service ... & if you enjoy listening to others use their bathrooms... ya!! choose laurelwood 8/23/2006

Well, i liked Laurelwood for the first couple of months. After the exterminator came TWICE to spray for the discusting 100 legged half-centipede/half spider looking things that run across the apartment every day, I started to get a little annoyed. The creatures haven't gone away no matter how immaculate i keep the apartment. BUT, even as discusting as creatures crawling around building is... what ticks me off even MORE, is the cable/phone/internet service that they MAKE you get. It's called Ispeed, and no other cable or phone company will service laurelwood apartments. My cable is 43 bucks a month and my internet is 49. The cable channels come in at all differernt volume levels, one channel will be too quiet, the next WAY too loud. Some channels have static and lines across the screen... theres no tv guid channel, just one channel that tells you what channel is nbc, usa... etc. It's ridiculous. The internet service only works half of the time. If i knew BEFORE i moved here that i can't choose my own internet and cable services i really don't think i would have moved here. 90 bucks a month for crappy service is ridiculous. \r \r Don't plan on using the pool very often, its closed more than its open, and when it IS actually open, theres about 15 little kids jumping, splashing, running.. its the opposite of relaxing at the pool.\r \r oh, one more thing... we just finally had someone move in above us, it was empty for about 2 months. We can hear EVERYTHING. We can hear him walking around ALLL DAY LONG. I've been woken up twice from them shutting a bedroom/bathroom door. You can even hear them using their bathroom!! The walls and floors are like tissue paper. I hope this warning helps someone interested in laurelwood. DON'T MOVE HERE!!! Pros: great area, close to everything Cons: not being able to choose your service providers, poor extermination more
