We have been shopping at Village Wines for several years, & no longer shop for wine anywhere else in Nashville. There is simply no point. Owner Hoyt Hill is knowledgeable & witty, & not only offers competitive pricing, but unheard of deals on wines that we haven't been able to find elsewhere in Nashville. His daily email offerings are so helpful that you can actually learn about wine by reading them regularly, or just keep up w/ what's peaking now. Hoyt Hill is gracious to his customers and is without a doubt the most knowledeable wine store owner in the ,possibly the state. His selection of wine is incomparable and he has access to the best in winemakers in the world. I've shopped at Village Wines several times now and I find the quality of wines to be exceptional. I've always received excellent customer service and they know their wines. They can order almost any kind for you which most other wine stores will not do. They are very knowledgeable about all wines and have some wonderful bargains in the $10 to $20 price range. I'm new to Nashville and went in to browse with my sister. The guy running the shop was quite condescending and oddly insistent that he help us find something. At first, I didn't want to be rude and say the selection was overpriced and limited, so I politely declined only to be rudely and quite nastily berated! He accused us of pretending to shop just so we could use the parking space and shop the village. Good Lord, the paranoia! He even chased us outside and insisted that we move our car! I couldn't believe the psychotic hostility -- do NOT patronize this place! more
