I had been looking for a particular wine for over a year. I visited every wine stone in Nashville I could find and each and every wine store employee looked at the label from my last remaing bottle and said ""no, we don't have it."" Hoyt was the only one to say ""yes, I can find it."" . . .and he did! more

I have to say I have been buying wines from Hoyt for years. He is a true expert in his field. He offers all price ranges and great value. He IS a very generous supporter of many Nasvhille events. We are lucky to have him and the claibre of his wines in our Hillsboro neighborhood. more

Hoyt is a true wine expert...trust him! Just give him a price range, your taste, etc. and he will do you right every time. He is also a VERY generous supporter of various events in Nashville, so support him back. more

Knowedge you can trust 3/14/2011

I purchase wine from a small number of shops in Nashville each for a different reason. By far, the most business goes to Village Wines. Hoyt knows wine. He can be trusted to consistently bring forth gems. His email marketing is a level above the average. more

Hoyt - Village Wines 3/11/2011

I have been a regular customer of Village Wines for many years. I love that VW shares my sense of adventure and love of quality. I am not so much of a conformist so I LOVE being able to walk into a wine shop that doesn't look like it was staged by marketers telling me what I should buy. Hoyt carries an amazing variety of wines and offers great deals on a daily basis and he has recommended so many great wines to me based on what I like. I have always loved wine but it wasn't until I got to know Hoyt that I truly was able to gain in depth knowledge of wine and increase my appreciation. His business also holds amazing wine tastings with wine makers and/or vineyard owners (not a marketer)...it's like a mini wine country visit after a long day at work. And his charitable initiatives within our community are vast. You can also strike up a great conversation with him about Vandy athletics...and he may just offer you some game tickets. more

I shop at several wine stores, but Village is the best. 3/8/2011

Village Wines consistently has an excellent selection of wines and liquors competitively priced at every cost level, but so do lots of stores in town. Where they differentiate themselves is with the knowledge of Hoyt and his staff and the service they offer. Don't be afraid to ask questions, the employees want to help you choose the right wine in your price range. While I do get email offers from Village for $1000 bottles of cellar classics, they certainly don't treat me as less of a customer because of my $15/bottle budget. On the contrary, once Hoyt finds out what you like and how much you like to pay, we'll point you to bottles that you'd never find on your own. First class service in a comfortable environment, what more could you want? more

best wine place in the city 3/7/2011

This is the place to buy wine in the city of Nashville for people who really appreciate wine. Hoyt and his crew will go out of their way to make sure you have the perfect bottle of wine for whatever occasion. You should definitely subscribe to the email list as Hoyt sends out ridiculous offers that he negotiates on great wine! As a younger wine drinker with a minimal collection and budget, he is very respectful of this and helps me in choosing very appropriate wines for whatever occasion. Definitely go talk to him - no one else in Nashville knows more about wine! more

Hoyt at Village Wines 3/7/2011

I have always been impressed with Hoyt's knowledge of wines and appreciate his willingness to help me find a great wine with a low price tag! But what really impresses me the most is his generosity - Hoyt has faithfully donated countless cases of wine to many different charities in our community over the years as a way to give back and support the many causes that are important to him. That makes me want to support Village Wines all the more. Thank you Hoyt! more

My favourite, for five years. 3/7/2011

I moved from London 5 years ago to Hillsboro Village and so this wine store was the closest to my apartment. So I tried it out... And loved it... And rarely shop anywhere else... Sean, Kenneth, Hoyt, Raymond; they'll all very friendly, the wines are excellent [great selection; something for everyone] and I've never had anything else than an excellent experience shopping there. What I love the most is that the staff now know my palette and price range and EVERY one of their recommendations work out great! Do sign up for the emails - some of the deals are unbelievable! more

Village Wines 3/6/2011

Village Wines is a locally owned, neighborhood wine store that carries a wonderful and varied selection of wines at all price points. It's a great place to stop in and ask Hoyt or one of his knowledgeable staff for a recommendation. I am never disappointed with their selections! While wine is the main event, Hoyt also carries a great selection of booze. I also appreciate that Hoyt and Elizabeth go out of their way to support local events and institutions. Hoyt is a regular contributor to Nashville charities and instrumental in donating great wines for others to sample. I highly recommend Village Wines. more

Great Wine Store 3/6/2011

Village Wines is a great place to find wines from around the world that you are not likely to find elsewhere in town (or even across Tennessee). Hoyt offers a great variety of wine in all price ranges. There is something for everyone at Village Wines. We especially have enjoyed some of the Rhone Valley and Bordeaux wines. Hoyt will gladly help you find what you want or make recommendations, but he will not be pushy about it. I recommend Village Wines to everyone--novice wine drinkers and those with much knowledge and experience. more

Hoyt Hill has been my advisor on wine and my source for wine for over 20 years. His understanding of wine and food as well as service are unmatched. He is known and respected by a vast number of producers and also by most of the owners and chefs of some of the worlds best restaurants. Nashville is fortunate to have him as a resource. Village Wines along with Hoyt's ability to find almost any wine that Village Wines may not have in stock can meet virtually anyone's needs. more

Village Wines - Hoyt Hill continues to bring in difficult and often impossible-to-find-elsewhere wines for his customers. Some of these gems are bank busters but Hoyt also sniffs out and brings to us many wonderful wines attractively priced, sometimes even in the single digits.\r \r No matter what your budget and taste, you can find happiness in his store. I have collected a lot of great wines (95+ points) from Hoyt at Village Wines, and the good news is that your satisfaction is guaranteed: If you buy a wine and for whatever reason you really don't like it (I think this happened to me once), Hoyt will buy the remainder back from you - no questions asked. How can you get a better deal than that? more
