Editorial review from Citysearch 6/25/2013

AWFUL....I attended a wedding reception there last weekend... and am very grateful there was an awesome DJ, because Villa Nova did everything in their power to RUIN the wedding.\r \r 1) Arrived and reception hall was still being vacuumed/set-up with less than 20 minutes until 'official' start time. The bridal party had to jump in and place favors on the tables (which HAD been delivered in advance).\r \r 2) Very slow bartenders. The line was continually wrapped around the room.\r \r 3) The soup was passable, but the salad was limp and wet. It allegedly had Italian dressing, but just tasted soggy.\r \r 4) The mostaccioli was rubbery and bland.\r \r 5) The beef was cold. The chicken was either pink (under-cooked) or had more bones than meat.\r \r 6) There was supposed to be wine continuously on every table. The bride had to ask about it half way through dinner and received a snotty (we're opening them now) reply from the manager.\r \r 7) We had water carafes, but had to ask for the water glasses.\r \r 8) Despite waiting in long lines to get drinks, if you left your mostly full drink on the table to go dance, it was gone (removed by staff ""cleaning"") by the time you returned.\r \r 9) Dinner ran so long that the bar re-opened an hour late (yet still closed at the exact stroke of 12, shorting the wedding an hour of paid bar time)\r \r 10) At the end of the evening, a waitress asked about gifts and centerpieces. She informed me that they would hold things over night. The manager informed me (rudely) that the girl ""had just started that day and didn't know what she was talking about"". \r \r Thankfully good friends and family are what is important to a wedding, because if Villa Nova had their way, they would've decimated the happy couple's day.\r \r Save your money, go some place else to celebrate your special occasions. more

Villa Park's Finest!!!!! 1/28/2011

I don't know where to start! The food is always excellent and the service is beyond friendly and helpful. We have frequented this fantastic Italian restaurant for years and we love going to Villa Nova with our friends and family. We always enjoy their brunches and banquets and having dinner in their dining room is just as good as the first time we ever came into the place. We had our first date at Villa Nova, go their for every anniversary and even held our daughter's wedding in their banquet hall. Everything was excellent as usual and George and Kathy accommodated our families every wish to make the occasion the success that it was! We look forward to holding our daughter's baby shower there in a few months and hopefully our new arrival will frequent Villa Nova as much as our family has over the last 20 years! more

I Love Villa Nova 10/7/2010

Villa Nova is just the PERFECT place for any occasion!!!!!! and I give it my NUMBER ONE recommendation for anybody. I took my fiance and her parents to Villa Nova and my night went just the way I hoped it would!!!!! We got off to a great start with the calamari - which was some of the best I have ever tasted. I have been to many other places that serve calamari, and Villa Nova does its seafood the way sea food should be presented. My fiance and her mom both ordered the lasagna. They continued to rave about their dishes the entire night, so we agreed they had to pass it around for all to taste. No doubt it was the BEST lasagna in Dupage. I ordered the egg parmesan and was impressed. The portion was amazingly generous and the taste was FABULOUS! My fiance's dad, a hard man to please hahaha, ordered their chicken visuvio and also boasted about his dish. When it came time for dinner we all unanimously agreed on the HOME-MADE Teramisu, which was DELIGHTFUL. At the end of the night we all had more then enough portions to take home and enjoy the day after - like a significant reminder of the good times had the night before hahaha. As if all this was not enough, the service was SUPERIOR and SPECTACULAR. Our kind waitress - Linda - was informing, kind, and comforting. She really took care of us and helped the night run smoothly. Our group was so impressed we signed up for a meeting here at their banquet halls and picked it for our wedding. That night went AMAZING. Not only was I happy, but my guests continued to rave about the good times they had at our wedding. They too continued to call me days after the wedding and say what I said my first visit to Villa Nova. My guests raved about the AMAZING food, cream of the crop service, and warming atmosphere. The manager -George - made everything run smoothly and was generous with working out a great price no matter how extravagant we made our wedding. It feels so good to have picked a place as perfect as Villa Nova. I wish the best for all who are planning their wedding, which is why I would strongly recommend this dinning experience for anybody. I could have not picked a better place to spend the first night with my wife. It was a great night that foreshadowed the beautiful life we would have together-and Villa Nova helped us make this happen. This created the best story I have ever had with a restaurant. I hope that anyone looking for the best food, warm atmosphere, and a good time will come to Villa Nova. When I gave the 5 stars for this place I mean it, ""RUN, DON'T WALK"" haha. more

Please read before EVER doing business with Villa Nova! 9/1/2010

HORRIBLE management, customer service and coordination! Think twice before booking a party with Villa Nova! We had booked a party (25-50 people) a week in advance ( a 50th birthday party), but upon arrival we were told that it was not penciled in ( the lady had forgotten). Also on the phone we were told that there was no charge, which we were then informed it would be $200 to rent the room unless the tab for the party reached $400. The person in charge ( George) was very unprofessional and rude with a bad attitude about the misunderstanding. He stated "" I don't care if the tab is $399, I will charge you the $200 rental fee!"" ( Last time I checked good customer service will get you better business, which by the looks of the place and the 3-4 people that were not part of our party, they NEED the business!) After we trusted to not ""keep tabs"" of our own, we were told that $400 mark was not achieved. There was no itemized records showing over $200 in food, let alone the numbers amount of alcoholic beverages served. Because there were only 2 servers staffed, a lot of people walked into the empty bar to get drinks from the bartender. George told us that those drinks don't count because they left the rented room ( less then 10 ft away). The problem is, not only did we have to deal with George's lack of professionalism, we had to pay for a room on top of the aprox $600+ spent in food and drinks! ( Now I can see why the place is so dead!) Going back to before the party had started, George's attitude was ""I've been in this business 25 years and if you don't like the way I run things we can call this off right now!"". Oh how I would have loved to contact the 50 people invited to tell them to re-route, but again it was a 50th birthday planned a week in advance. He made us feel so uncomfortable even when we complied with everything he had wanted! He was unfair to charge for a room when he chose not to count the money spent at the bar. If there were more staff available to take drink orders we would not have run into the problem, but since the place was dead we ordered in the bar. The bartender knew we were from the same party and if the money wasn't going to "" count"" we should have been warned ahead of time to not leave the room. The way things were handled was completely UNACCEPTABLE and Villa Nova will be getting no business from friends or family ever again. I can only hope to warn any of those planning a party, so your night does not end in the disaster ours did! more

Easter Brunch 4/26/2010

Our reservations at Villa Nova on Easter were more than we had expected and we enjoyed the lavish buffet very much. The food was fresh, hot and homemade. The Prime Rib was perfectly cooked and sliced to order. Beef Tips and Noodles, Chicken Champagne, Lasagna, Roast Pork, Chicken Cacciatore and pan after pan of melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Trays of homemade Cannoli’s and desserts and to top that off a Chocolate Fountain with huge fresh strawberries, assorted fruits and marshmallows! I made my Mother’s Day reservations already!! Pros: Outstand Service great seating cappacity, Friendly more

Would not recommend 1/24/2010

My daughter had her wedding at Villa Nova and I also found the banquet manager to be rude and incompetent. We booked the large banquet room for the actual wedding (and paid extra for the privilege) and the reception. The banquet manager found it necessary to book a luncheon before the wedding and on the day of the wedding informed us that we couldn't get into the room for the ceremony until 10 minutes before the scheduled start time! Everything was then rushed, not well set up, and the employees were making a lot of noise during the ceremony. There isn't enough room here to go into how he screwed up the rehearsal the night before!! Banquet manager is rude, rude, rude and completely incompetent. more

Unethical Business Practices 8/10/2005

We used Villa Nova for a group party last year. Despite Villa Nova's failure to provide us with the correct orders for the dinner, we returned to them again this year after they assured us improved service. After speaking with the new banquet manager & putting a hold on the event date, the banquet manager came back & changed the conditions we agreed to over the phone & the initial prices we discussed. He stated he was doing so b/c he had a bigger party he wanted to book that would make him more $ for the night. I advised him we were return customers & I felt it was an inappropriate way to run a business. He said we wouldn't make him enough $ & that he would not book us. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism w/a vendor. I don't recommend booking an event with Villa Nova. Cons: Unethical, Inappropriate, Inaccurate more
