This place has an attitude problem. The hosts and bartenders make you feel like you are a hassle. I got an idea, do your damn job and don't roll your eyes at customers. This place should go out of business shortly with the way things are going, and i wont miss it. I'd like to give it 0 stars, but 1 seems to be as low as I can go. Horrible, Awful Service. 1/9/2010

I normally don't leave reviews, but just had brunch and had such awful service I wanted to let other people know. Showed up for brunch and took us forever to get menus, forever for our order to be taken, then the waiter forgot my coffee and didn't show back up for 10 minutes to be reminded, and when he brought the food he let me sit for 10 more minutes before coming back and realizing that I didn't have any silverware. When my friend produced a gift certificate he gave us attitude. At this point we started giving attitude back, and he called us ""dicks."" The food is mediocre, the location is difficult, and with service like this, there's no reason to go to The View. Especially if you get the asian guy waiter. I am never going back, there are too many other good restaurants in uptown. Cons: Service Service Service more

Great food and service 5/19/2009

Nice decor, great employees, fabulous food. The Steak Salad is to-die-for. The always-watchful management ensures you're being taken care of. The service is casual and friendly, personal. Mediocre food 3/23/2009

I'm surprised to find so many positive review about View. My husband and I went for the first time yesterday for Sunday brunch and couldn't be more disappointed in a restaurant that looks nice and has a great location. I ordered the crab eggs benie and all I could taste was red peppers. My husband had a dried out omelet. I suppose I'm not surprised- there no line to get in for popular Sunday brunch and the manager was sitting on the stairs in the main dining area talking on his cell phone. Great happy hour spot! 12/20/2008

I've never had full on dinner at View, but it's the perfect happy hour spot! Also great for business meetings. They have great specials on appetizers and drinks, which can easily become a meal. I also love that their offer half sized salads. The spinach and fruit salad is AMAZING! Not overly fruity and the perfect vinaigrette to top it off. That with a glass of wine for under $10?! Great brunch in uptown 12/17/2008

we went to view for a weekend brunch get together on saturday. there were 6 of us and we had their brunch. i have to say it was so nice to find a different place to go for brunch on weekends. our server was so sweet. great food, and amazing service. thanks Pros: great food, and service Cons: not the best for kids more

Not as great as I expected 11/10/2007

I read the reviews for VIEW and decided to book my birthday party there. We stopped in the bar to have a cocktail before dinner and the server was SO INTENSE! he barely stayed at our table long enough to take our order. he was very loud and pretty rude. we could see him spending lots of time at other tables, but could barely order a drink for us.\r We moved into the dinner area where we had a table reserved for 15- they put 11 of us at one table and 4 at another table- i didnt want my guests sitting away from us- so i had the server rearrange the tables. we had 1 server for all of us and she was pretty quiet and a little stand-off. \r The food was great and i would certainly recommend the food, but the service was just below par. The host/owner at the front door was the nicest man i've ever met- but the servers we encountered were nothing of anything wonderful. \r i wouldnt recommend VIEW for large parties and i would recommend VIEW take a look at their staff and train them how to be more pesonal and more friendly to the guests. more

great food, even better deserts 10/8/2007

i had reservation for my birthday dinner with a few friends last friday night. our server nicholas was great. very friendly and helpful. we had the calamari, and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers, both very tasty. i had filet and my girlfriend had the tuna entree, i also tried a bite of my friend's pork tenderloin and i was pleasantly surprsied with the food quality. thanks for a good experience. Avoid eating dinner in the bar. 5/17/2007

I went there with a group of friends for my birthday and was disppointed. The appetizers were great, but the entrees were quite bad. We had to get some food taken off our bill because it was so gross. We also were seated in the bar and it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other and they didn't tell us ahead of the time that we would be in the bar. The restaurant was beautful and parking was free, other than happy hour I would not go back. Pros: Service Cons: Food more

My fiance and I went for brunch. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food was also delicious! I liked the contemporary look to the place and also the atmosphere. wonderful experience 3/28/2007

a group of us went there for dinner. we sat at in the dining room which was beautiful and a more calm than the bar area as expected! our server brian was very friendly and helpful. we started off with the calamari, mushrooms, and view fries for appetizers. the mushrooms and the calamari were outstanding. i had the fish special which was great, the server also recommended the pork tenderloin and the ahi tuna, which other people in our group ordered. they loved their meal as well. the stand out of the evening was the tomato avocado and mozzarella salad and the cheesecake, they were both the best i have ever had :) we will definitely go back. Great night in snow storm 3/28/2007

Thanks View, My date and I really enjoyed the friday night snow storm at the view .Donald was just great. the calamari is my new favorite and my date loved the tomato,avocado, and mozzerlla was fabulos\r the brasied short ribs and the fetticine with your new homemade pasta really nice. Don't go for the food... very bland and mediodre compared to most restaurants in the Uptown Circuit. The ambiance is a big improvement from Dixies and the Patio looks nice, however a little too much traffic noise for me. Just okay 3/6/2007

I came to dinner here with my boyfriend and thought this place was just okay. The atmosphere was very pretty, but the food was not good at all. I would ONLY go here for drinks and that is it. I ordered a pasta dish that tasted similar to my $1.20 box of Pasta Roni I made two nights earlier. I would go back, but don't bother ordering any food here. Great Happy Hour spot! 2/26/2007

Went out to try this place for happy hour. Friendliest bartender I have ever met! He recommended wines, and even gave a taste-test to my date.\r The wine was excellent, really cheap, and the food was great too. Try the fries, trust me!\r Great view of the lake, and outside seating in warm weather. The decor and atmosphere is really great, Asian inspired, with warm colors that make you want to stay a while. Overall, great experience! Pros: great wine, great service, great food Cons: don't sit by the door in the winter. BRRR! more

Great patio! 11/19/2006

I was a little intimidated by this place before we went but I ended up having a great time. Some nights there is a huge wait to get out on the patio but its worth it. We went on a Sunday night and were seated immediately. The prices weren't as bad as I envisioned them being especially if you're just going to have a laidback evening. The service was average but its definitely worth trying! more
