Video Strip

I moved to Chicago and before didn't really know anyone in the area. So I figured I'd get a video my first night here having no cable at all. \r \r Within minutes I felt welcomed by the owner as he signed me up. Besides having a great video selection to choose from they also have some great games and deals too. I got a Rent 1 Get 2 free with my first rental. They even carry a wide selection of TV shows on DVD and they rent them by the season box instead of per disc. For no extra charge too. Well instantly I kicked in for my Doctor Who fix and rented those. While there I was discussing things with the staff who helped me learn about the neighborhood on everything from restaurants to shopping. I even was able to register to vote while there! \r \r Soon I had my first good friends in this city and they have been more then helpful everytime I come in. As good as Video Strip may be...it's gotten kind of bad lately. I will be straight about it, here are the things that could make it better and the things that make it bad: Employee and owner are unpleasant, rude at times, sloppy...customer service makeover please. I think a Video store should be exciting, have a pick of the week by random people. that rug has to go it's dated its dirty...Get Rid Of It!!! the dogs c'mon they do not belong in the store. Video Strip has two awesome windows (sorry your dog died) but could have some real cool displays. Last but not least the SMELL is so bad I hate to go in and sometimes lately I won't. WTF!! I'm sure us the customers could give you some awesome ideas and maybe help. You need to fix all that first. This video store is unbelievable!!! Although small in size...inside is a BIG package!!! Many super deals for every holiday, season and month. This store has it all! Been a customer since 1997 and yet to be unsatisfied. The employees are knowledgeable and service is exceptional. Experience the ""VIDEO STRIP"" and YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!! I found out through a friend about The Video Strip years ago, they have a wide spread of dvd's and video games!! They are always 10 steps ahead of any other Dvd store I have ever been too, any and every movie you can imagine, they have it!! Pros: Can easily find any dvd or game! I have been going to Video Strip for years now, and I rent so much that I thought I would run out of movies to get, but I don't. Simply said.... Largest selection anywhere! I have been to Blockbuster, maybe 5 times, and I learned that The Video Strip is the place to rent from! I used my voters stub for my free rental yesterday too, where else can you do that? This is the ultimate video store!!!!! I've been shopping here about 10 years ago & there's been all kinds of deals. From 1cent rentals. No...NOT A MISPRINT! 3 videos for $6.99 - $9.99 w/bag of chips. And So on.... Then there is their TV Shows & Deluxe Editions. The TV DVDs are rented by the season... NOT BY THE DISC. Huge saving compared to Blockbuster. And get this....THEY DELIVER & PICK-UP your movies. So you never even have to leave the house. I've rarely ever need to shop elsewhere. It appears to be a small shop but they have a very large selection of DVDs. The largest I have seen! Thousands are here. I checked out this place after finding it on this site. I have to admit I was blown away by the deals here. The guy explained everything to me and to be honest there are so many deals I don't even remember all of them. I have never seen any video store like this. They are great!!! The best deals that stuck in my head... 1) Rent one get 2 free when you sign up. 2) Rent 6 Horror DVDs for $6.66. LOL!! 3) Election Day you bring in the voter's stub you get a free rental. There were other package deals too but like I said, there are several different deals here that I didn't really absorb all the info. Oh, and their selection of DVDs. It's the best I have seen. I came into this store after reading a review on this site. I love off the wall titles that most stores don't carry. I walked in and asked for two titles to see if they carry it - boy was i surprised -THEY HAD IT!!!!! And the staff recommended titles similar to these titles that I also enjoyed. I have been in other stores and asked for these same titles and get a blank stare right after asking. This is the first time I have been in a store that actually seems to love independent titles. They also have a HUGE Hong Kong Film section which I will be exploring on my next visit. Best part is most of the films are 7 day rentals!!!! This is the best spot to find the DVD's you want. You can find everything from Special Edition's, Criterion, Un-Cut, Un-Rated, and they even have a spanish and hong kong section. Plus the deals are ridiculous! You can pick up THREE NEW RELEASES for only $10 and you get a FREE snack. The deal covers all movies in the store including video games! And for parents, family films are only 99cents. Also. they have this thing called a DVD pass, for 34.95 you get a pass for 30 rentals which can be used for any movie or game in the store. Do the math on how mych 30 rentals would cost you and you tell me that ain't a bargain. Trust me, you give this place just one visit and you'll become a regular. It's no wonder this store is amongst the few ""neighborhood"" video stores able to survive corporate giants like Blockbuster or Hollywood. This store is half the size of a Blockbuster with twice the DVD's. The environment is friendly and the owner knows about the business. If you love movies, than this is the place. The Video Strip puts block buster and hollywood video to shame! no one can run a movie store like the owner of the video strip...he is the friendliest people person ever... the movie selection there is the greatest thing since sliced bread, the workers there know what they are talking about when it comes to movies and they are also very friendly, rentals are at reasonable price compared to block buster and hollywood video and the video strip is heaven on earth! The Video Strip is by far has the biggest selection I have ever seen and If they don't have what you're looking for they will find a way to get it for you. The employee's are not your average cookie cutter types, they are real people and inform you if a movie sucks or was really good. Not like BLOCKBUSTER!!
