I think Dr. Kaylen Silverberg is one of the great ones in his field. Not only is he really knowledgeable but he has very good bed side manor which I feel is very important, especi...

went thru 1st cycle at tx fertlity center. the cycle was exremely stressful and poorly managed. No one was helpful to answer any of my questions. Everytime i asked a question...

Dr. Silverberg is incredible! 10/13/2009

We moved to Austin from New England where we were already working with a fertility clinic. We were lucky enough to be recommended to Dr. Silverberg and TFC. Absolutely amazing team! First of all, you see your doctor (or another doctor if yours is out of town) EVERY visit. I can tell you this is not the case at some offices. Dr. Silverberg is extremely knowledgeable, honest and will spend as much time as you want answering questions – even if it makes him late to see someone else. I had to go to the emergency room on a Saturday night. Dr. Silverberg did not just call in orders and let the ER take care of me, but rather showed up and took unbelievable care of me. After Dr. Silverberg left and I was resting, 4 members of the ER staff came by and told my husband and I what an amazing doctor he was and how they very rarely see a doctor actually come to the ER. His family makes a lot of sacrifices for what he does for all of us and we are very appreciative. We are now expecting twins and ecstatic. Our only sadness is that we have to leave TFC and that Dr. Silverberg can’t deliver them. Pros: honest, spends all the time you need, great sense of humor Cons: none! more

Professional staff with results 10/10/2009

great experience. Dr. Hansard is very professional, gives you as much time as you need to answer questions, and is straight up about dx & txt. twice we had something unexpected happen and both times we were called immediately to give us options. At the very last minute, I was expressing fears about twins and she stopped and asked if we should only transfer 1--a very good listener. Also has a sense of humor--I don't trust drs without one. I highly recommend TFC and Lisa Hansard Pros: good stats Cons: waiting for first appt more

professional and knowledgeable staff 10/10/2009

I have been a patient of Dr. Hansard's for about 8 months. It took a long time to get in for our first appt, but after that it was easy. Dr. Hansard is very professional, but also caring. Spent over 45 minutes with us when we had alot of questions about our treatment options and twice when something unexpected happened, we were called right away and given our options. The donor egg program is fantastic, we had a great experience throughout. Infertility is a stressful experience, and TFC made it much less so. I highly recommend TFC, and especially Lisa Hansard (although I didn't try others there, they may be just as good). The IVF donor nurses are great as well. They call you back right away and answer all your questions. If they don't know the answer, they say so and find out. Pros: excellent stats Cons: price more

Wonderful Experience 10/7/2009

I have been a patient of TX Fertility for a few years. The realization of infertility is a hard pill to swallow and not an easy process to go through. I am proof that this Center is top notch!! I am 9 weeks pregnant today!!!! Dr. Silverberg and his staff have been extraordinary, without them I don't believe I would have achieved pregnancy! They are patient and loving! I highly recommend TFC!! \r \r Forever Grateful,\r The Smith's Pros: great staff, Dr. Silverberg is the best! more

Excellent, excellent experience 9/24/2009

Geez I cannot believe some of these negative reviews. I understand that the outcome can be disappointing (been THERE 5+ times thanks to attempts in Chicago), but it's not fair if only the minority dissent is heard out here. I've been Dr. Silverberg's patient for 6 months and am so thankful to have found a doctor like him (and his colleagues). We are now successfully pregnant with a singleton, after one IVF cycle. Dr. S is thoughtful, funny, smart and responsible. I'm going to miss occasionally seeing him now that my pregnancy is underway! He cares about his patients... has the bedside manner that is like a good friend. Word of warning... ladies. TFC is the only fertility clinic in Austin. If you are in Austin, and handling fertility issues, do NOT use your OB/GYN to address the issues. You will end up spending all your insurance limit and becoming incredibly frustrated. Go STRAIGHT to TFC and use any of the talented drs there. I saw them all (4) during routine appointments and they were all fantastic. It's like having something really specific wrong with your car, and thinking that the folks at Jiffy Lube can fix it. Seriously. Pros: Well-managed patient care more

Excellent services and caring Doctors! 8/25/2009

Dr. Silverberg is an EXCELLENT doctor with vast knowledge and expertise. He is very talented and cares about his patients and their care. He was involved every step of the way in our treatment and made sure we had all the information necessary to make educated decisions about our treatment. We are thankful for his staff especially his nurse Kellye. She was always so accessible and patient and explained all the medications and treatments. She is very sweet, kind, and professional. We greatly appreciate the support and care she gave us. We recommend TFC to all who are seeking excellent care and helpful, knowledgeable staff. If you are seeking the best in fertility treatment, go to Texas Fertility Center. Pros: Excellent knowledge and expertise Cons: None! more

TX Fertility are miracle workers! 7/29/2009

I completed my first round of IVF in Aug 2007 and had a beautiful baby in May 2008. Just completed another round of IVF in June 2009 and am pregnant again! :o) Many thanks to Dr. Silverberg and his wonderful staff for making my dreams come true! They also provided the contact info for a 3rd party finance company to help cover the healthcare costs that insurance wouldn't pay for. I am very grateful for everything that they did to accomodate my schedule and that they answered all of my questions whenever I had one. I would highly recommend Dr. Silverberg and any one of the doctors and TX Fertility Center! more

Great care, great doctor 7/13/2009

I just completed my first IVF cycle with Dr. Silverberg and am successfully pregnant with a singleton. The dr.'s office was incredible the whole time. They worked with my insurance company, accommodated my work travel with weekend apts and took great care of me. They were also sensitive to my desire for success, but also keep the risk of multiples low. Dr. Silverberg is great, I will go back to him in a heartbeat next time around. more

Just a number to them 6/18/2009

Like others have said before, going through infertility is a very stressful time. I was looking forward to our first visit with Texas Fertility to help ease this stress that my wife and I were going through. Unfortunately, we were treated as a number only, pushed in and out as quickly as possible. \r \r Our doctor was Dr. Silverberg. We saw him several times, and we had the same experience on each visit. He did a couple checks on my wife, prescribed Chlomid, and sent us on our way. Of course we had lots of questions for him, like why is this happening, what can we do different, and he always seemed like it was a burden to answer them. Knowledge-wise, he is obviously the best and knows his stuff, but he did not make us feel comfortable and did not console us at all. I was always very intimitated to ask him questions and felt like we were wasting his time if we stayed longer than 5 minutes.\r \r The last straw we had was when we were scheduled to do an IUI. My wife and I had waited a long time for this moment, and after several months of treatment, her body was finally ready. We arrived and one nurse gave us a sample cup with instructions on how to fill it. We did, or I did, and we then went back for the IUI. We dropped off the sample and waited several minutes, but we were never called back. After waiting impatiently, we asked the nurse what the holdup was and were told we were not scheduled for the IUI today, but we could come back next month for the IUI. Were they serious? Did they make us go through all this, and now crush our hopes after they made a scheduling mistake? Why did they give us the sample cup in the first place?\r \r We took my sample and never looked back. We saw Dr. Youngkin at austinfertilityclinic one time and got pregnant immediately. Perhaps it was Dr. Youngkin's warm, compassionate atmosphere, or perhaps it was the relief that we did not have to go back to Texas Fertility Clinic or Dr. Silverberg again. \r \r I believe you can get positive results from \r Texas Fertility Clinic. And if you go in expecting just the facts and not the best human experience, then they are the best. But for my wife and myself, we needed to be treated with a little more compassion and hand holding.\r \r Pros: what other choice is there in Austin? Cons: Patient treatment is very poor more

added stress during an already stressful time 1/10/2009

went thru 1st cycle at tx fertlity center. the cycle was exremely stressful and poorly managed. No one was helpful to answer any of my questions. Everytime i asked a question to my IVF nurse, she looked at me like i should already know the answer. i fell through the cracks so to speak. All of this making an already stressful situation, more stressul. There was an accounting mistake done for one of my tests that BTW, i ended paying full price for instead of receiving the discount through txfertility (it was almost 2.5 x's the discounted price!) And be ready to end up paying more than what they breakdown for you. Also, my credit card was charged on the tail end (about 3-4 weeks after my transfer was done) of all this without my approving the charge OR even knowing about it (almost 1000$)! I figured out on my own what the charge was for, but never expected to be charged without prior approval (this was actually done by AustinIVF who work in conjunction with texas fertility).I think there is usually paperwork filled out for the Austin IVF side, but i never filled anything out and only paid for all of my procedures through texas fertility checkout. Like i said, i fell through the cracks somehow. My doctor was very kind and helpful. The afer-hours nurse was always quick in answering my pages (within 5-10 minutes) and was very helpful. i know they are in a busy practice, but since its basically a cash business ($13,000-$19,000 per cycle) (not many insurances cover IVF, especially in texas), they should really pay more attention to ALL first timers- its something that is unknown, frightening, and exhausing if you have never been thru it. I expected more from them, but as other reviews have noted they are the only 'certified' game in town. I think the journey towards having a baby shouldn't mean that you lose that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling. Pros: board certified, kind doctor Cons: parking, apethetic staff, not very helpful more

Great Doctor! 1/6/2009

Dr Silverberg was unbelievable! We had been to 2 other fertility doctors and spent unbelievable amounts of money with no results. On our first visit Dr Silverberg spent more time explaining our options to us than ALL the other doctors combined. He was always there for us and called us from his vacation when we were worried about symptoms ,everything was ok just like he said. He even called personally to tell us when our first cycle didn't work and I wasn't pregnant. Dr Silverberg IS late but I am the reason some of you have had to wait. I had to have emergency surgery while pregnant ,Dr Silverberg was there in the middle of his office day to do the surgery. Happy to report I have a perfectly beautiful set of twins! Pros: very available after hours and takes lots of time to answer questions durning appointments Cons: Dr Silverberg has a long waiting list for new patient appointments more

Please go somewhere else 10/4/2008

Awful place. Accounting can't keep records and double charge. They don't answer phones ever. I tried pregnancy twice with them and while treatment not nurses cared to follow up with me. It might be rated great in 2005 but in 2007/2008 this place is not great. I wish Austin had other choices for fertility treatment but this place. more

RESULTS 9/12/2008

For those who thought this office was so horrible, you might want to check the CDC.gov web site for National Fertility Center results for 2005 (reporting is 2 years behind). Texas Fertility Center is one of the top centers in the nation with pregnancy rates well over 50% (the National average is only 30%). You decide, want a warm fuzzy or a baby. I got mine...THANKS TFC!!! more

BAD SERVICE 8/10/2008

I was never able to get anyone on the phone during business hours during my fertility treatment. If I left a message someone will call me eventually late in the afternoon or next day. You must go in person to the clinic to talk to anyone. \r \r Accounting is a disaster, I prepaid all my lab work at the Texas Fertility Center with my credit card and after a while I still get bills from the lab. Accounting does not communicate prepayment with the Lab Centers and is very time consuming to have to deal with double payments. This is really stressful!\r Noone followed up with me over the phone after my fertility treatments. I felt none cared!! more

HORRIBLE! 3/17/2008

Texas Fertility Center has the most detached, inconsiderate doctors and staff. Two of the nurses are nice and very experienced, but it's obvious the instruction from the doctor is bad. One of the nurses is so obviously completely clueless - very inexperienced and not at all knowledgeable, not even in basic interpersonal communication skills with patients. The ""on-call"" nurse a, although she was nice enough, most of the time didn't return my calls, and when she did, it was often hours later, unless I called two or three times. The only way to interact with a doctor is to go in to the office (although often times they will try to prevent you from coming in) or put up a huge stink to INSIST that the doctor call you back. Otherwise it's always a nurse calling you with test result numbers, but no interpretation. And often times the staff doesn't even call back with the numbers - you have to call and leave a message (oh did I mention they NEVER answer their phone? You always get voicemail). Not ONE single time that I ever went in did Dr. Hansard say to me, ""anything I need to know?"" or ""do you have any questions?"" And when I did ask questions, I always got the impression she was in too much of a hurry to spend much time on them.\r \r It's quite obvious that they know they are the only game in town, so they don't have to care about patient care or satisfaction.\r \r My entire experience with them, from beginning to end, has been the most infuriating and frustrating experience of my life. Every single day something happens that makes me want to pull my hair out - I can't even convey how bad this has been.\r \r It's true they have the only board certified endocrinologists in town. My advice - if you are intent on fertility treatment...Move out of Austin. Pros: only choice in town Cons: too many to list here more
