Van Nuys Plating Incorporated

I've been using Van Nuys Plating for a long time. Last time must've been a couple of decades ago, when I took some pot metal car parts to Linda for rechroming, and VNP did a fabulous job.\r \r Then I left LA; moved to SF. When I had some guitar parts to replate and needed show quality, I asked a friend in the guitar biz who he used, and he recommended VNP.\r \r I thought, of course! I remember them!\r \r Well, Linda just finished up my third batch since last August, and I couldn't be happier with every single part that VNP has done for me. I'm sending guitar parts to VNP as well as parts for my antique bicycle builds, and the quality is superb. Linda is great to work with. There's no BS, no excuses, and stuff is done when she says it is. I have no qualms about dealing with them from 400 miles away. more

To GYPSY, We are VAN NUYS PLATING INC. and I am questioning if you have the correct plater. There are no ?guys? who would have taken care of you at this shop, only me and I am a woman. I was born and raised into this business. We are often confused with other platers in Van Nuys who have ruined their pot metal car parts. We are an expert with pot metal and on a rare occasion when we can't make the customer happy with a piece, we always take care of the customer in a way that is acceptable. I don't know who you are but I have a memory of a customer bringing a job to me similar to what you wrote and shared the experience with the other plater. We would not be in the business of doing concourse level plating over 60 years with the kind of finished product of which you say we provided for you. Like a fool, I took this guy three MAJOR jobs for car restoration -- trim, lettering, etc. -- (each years apart) and kicked myself in the butt each time for not just saying the heck with it and driving that 100 miles to find someone better. His people break your stuff (and he doesn't call and tell you), then you wind up holding a Mickey Mouse repair job with crooked soldered letters; the nut-posts that hold on letters are supposed to be taped, so rather than dip and strip and do it over (he says it can't be done, but I have watched it; you reverse the current in the tank), the turkey GRINDS off the chrome and into the pot metal and ruins the part! So what do you get? ""Well,"" he says, ""all YOU gotta do is..."" Nuts. I don't gotta do anything and he refuses to accommodate you on an $800 cash up front order. Go to court? Stress out? Have a heart attack? No, I just walked away the last time and wrote this. Don't go here. He doesn't care about you or your parts or your business or (obviously) whether you tell your tale to others. more
