Mixed Feelings 8/23/2010

I have had two experiences at VRCC and while the staff and vets are all very nice, you need to be careful as the bill at checkout will be a minimum of $1,000 or more. We were referred there by our vet both times and while one dog had to be euthanized the other one they wanted thousands of dollars to find a diagnosis, which we passed on, and our dog is still alive and well a year later....I would be cautious if your vet wants to refer you to VRCC. more

Idiotic Practitioners 6/9/2010

These fools have done nothing helpful while racking up charges of nearly $3000.00. In the end, after meeting with literally one representative in every department except for the specialist in the department I needed, they sent me back to a general vet. Every person I interacted with was clueless and spacey. Pros: . Cons: Incompetent staff more

Best Emergency Vet Service!!! 2/18/2010

I've brought three dogs to VRCC for various emergencies over the past 4 years. Diagnoses include bloat, ingestion of poisonous mushrooms, and stomach surgery to remove a corn cob that was stuck. Each and every time I felt that my dogs were well cared for, with plenty of time with the vets. Everyone was always very professional and kept me informed on the dog's status. They take the time to fully listen to our description of the problem - which I find "regular" vets often don't. As other reviews note, costs are high, but they are upfront about the costs. I'm so thankful they exist. more

Great Pet Healthcare Resource 2/10/2010

VRCC is great! Great resources for pet owners. My golden retriever has epilepsy and they keep her medications monitored to avoid the seizures that are so difficult to handle from an emotional standpoint. Not inexpensive, but they are totally up front on cost and options and recommendations. I'm glad we have those resources in Colorado. more

Good specialists 1/25/2010

Our eldest dog had some issues with his eye that our vet referred us to the VRCC to have taken care of. The vets here are friendly and take the time to explain the issues. more

I can see 1/24/2010

We had many vists to VRCC and appointments with the two opthalmologists. With a german shepherd with a glaucoma we needed regular drops and meds for him. more

Overrated & overpriced 8/27/2009

Spent $2000 on our cat at this place for a one-night stay. The only thing they did was give him an ultrasound and meds - then told us they'd have to do exploratory surgery for a few thousand more (at least). So we decided to euthanize. They said they would send us a clay sculpture with his paw print, which they never did. What a rip off! Would not recommend. Pros: Great facility Cons: Price more

Best ER ever!!! 12/15/2008

My cat was losing weight and urinating all over my house...I didn't know what to do! I took him to the Emergency dept. at VRCC...Dr. Rump and his technicians were SOOOO kind to me...they diagnosed my cat as being diabetic, showed me how to give him his insulin (they made me practice so I could do it at home), and gave me diabetic food to feed him. My cats are my life and this team of experts helped me figure out what was wrong! I will be forever grateful! Pros: Caring Staff more

very confusing 11/13/2008

We had many contacts with the VRCC system due to having a very sick little puppy. Initially our visits were to the emergency department. We felt like our care was very good during these experiences. When our puppy needed to see specialists though, our care became very difficult and frustrating. the different systems do not communicate and work together. The emergency department acts like a gatekeeper. They would take our money, do very little, send us home and we would come back with a sicker puppy. We would again have to pay the gatekepper to then be transferred to a specialist. Things were not explained well at all. When we shared our experience we were made to feel at fault. Our puppy had a consultation with a neurologist who recommended thoughsands of dollars of tests but would not talk to us so that we could ask questions and see if the tests made sense. We ended up having the tests done at Alameda East whose system was much easier to navigate. Our experince with Dr Wheeler (interist) was very good. Otherwise it was crazy making and felt like a business instead of a place that wanted to care for my puppy. Our beloved puppy lost his fight at 1.5years old just recently. he fought and we fought but in the end it was too much to overcome. he remains a very loved and special puppy to us. more

Good clinic 9/2/2008

We took our malamute there to verify a diagnosis of osteosarcoma. They took x-rays and verified not only the cancer in his leg, but also that it had metastized into his lungs. Although a difficult time for us, the staff and doctor were very professional and caring and explained all of our options to us. I would visit them again without hesitation. Their price was also very reasonable. more

overpriced 4/24/2008

i'm willing to spend what ever it takes to save my animal. that being said, this place is good but very expensive. the reason is that they seem to have the latest equipment and skilled practiconers, but i think they overkill on services for many emergencies. I have used them twice. I think ACCES on wadswoth and colfax is just as capable for almost all emergencies and has a much more competetive cost...\r \r just fyi. more

Superior pet care 2/20/2008

Ok, we may be a little over the top with 2 dogs and 5 cats, but we have the room and they all needed homes. What I'm pleased to know is that I can find boarded specialists in veterinary medicine just like I find for me. What I don't want to repeat is a tragic episode about 8 years ago when my ex-family vet pronounced a needed death sentance on my favoratie Irish Setter, without letting me know about VRCC's existence. I don't appreciate how they spent a couple thousand dollars on 'tests' when it clearly was a problem the specialists should have been seeing and moving toward treatment on in a much more expeditious manner. \r Now I'm personally aware of veterinary specialties and can make that choice for these dear companions that are there at the end of my stressful days. Pet insurance policies stink, but at least I can get the care. If you search veterinary specialists in the US, you'll realize how lucky we are to have such a facility in Denver. But we all know Colorado rocks. Pros: very advanced veterinary medicine in a wonderful facility. faster results than I get! Cons: it's straight out of my pocket 'cause there's no good pet insurance or enough enrollees more

Superb Specialized and Emergency Vet Care 1/7/2008

I can't believe there hasn't been a review for VRCC yet. I and my animal family have sought care from VRCC several times for over five years. I intend to keep being a loyal client. Dr. Julie Martin (Cardiopulmonary) and Dr. Robyn Elmslie (Oncology), and their staffs, are expert and highly skilled, compassionate, patient, accessible, generous with their time, and on and on. Even when I haven't been there for a couple years, they know who I am when I and one of my furry kids comes in with a serious problem. The emergency vets have been thorough and efficient. Despite their obvious hectic (frenzied) work, Front Desk staff also remember me. If they don't, without question they treat me with the respect and concern due a known client. Front Desk staff also care about what is going on, either overtly or by handling me and my family with knowing wisdom and efficiency. It's a big place, but human touches make it comfortable and comforting. Because specializations are broken out into separate practise groups, one gets the experience of a smaller, more personal clinic. VRCC and the people mentioned in this review have provided terrific support, counsel, peace of mind -- which is critical when the time comes to end the suffering of a loved family member. Pros: Thumbs Up All the Way Cons: I can live with how large a facility and company (companies) VRCC is. more

The best in Colorado! 8/3/2006

VRCC is simply the best in Colorado and probably the whole region. The staff is incredibly caring and professional and the facility is top notch. They specialize in everything that there is to do to small animals and they are conveniently located just south of Denver. My pets have used the Emergency Department and the Internal Medicine (IM) Department and I can?t say enough good things about both areas. The doctors in the IM Department were able to treat my dog and bring him back to health after two other animal hospitals had failed. When I had to bring my dog in on a Sunday after he suddenly collapsed they responded quickly and capably and it was a great comfort to know he was getting the best care. They aren?t the cheapest vets around but you get the best quality care. They also itemize what everything is going to cost before treatment and are willing to discuss other options if you can?t afford their recommendation. PROS: caring, top quality staff; wonderful facility, great more

Specialized and Emergency Vet Services 8/20/2005

This is a specialized vet hospital located across from the old Cinderella City Mall on Jason Street in Englewood, CO. I believe their open 24/7. Some of the best veterinary doctors in Colorado work here. They have handled a lot of high profile animal cases. I had to have a bone marrow aspiret done on my cat and I was impressed with the knowledge and skill level of my vets. They handle everything from emergency services, to allergies, surgeries, cancer etc. I have friends from WY who have brought their pets to this hospital and were also very pleased with the services they received. more
