After being a client for over 8 years, we are now interviewing new veterinarians. The purchase by VCA has caused a corporate money mentality in this once stellar hospital. Staff and technicians who were there for years have left for other facilities. Compassion is feigned. The clinic manager is totally self-absorbed with her own importance. I called when one of our cats passed away in our arms, only to be put on hold, then talked to with laughter and no attempt to help us with next steps. Yes I complained. I now find myself asking ""Is this a VCA recommendation or doctor recommendation?"" on every visit. It's obvious part of the new model is a hard upsell for services, to the point you feel guilty if you don't purchase. No one looks happy anymore. more

Wonderful staff who truly care! 3/27/2012

Norman (my new 1.5 year old Jack Russell rescue) and I had our first visit to Stoney Creek yesterday and had a wonderful experience! So happy a neighbor recommended them to me. Everyone was so nice and took their time to answer all my questions (reception, nurse, vet, check out). So thankful to have found such a great vet so quickly! Also, I know people are always concerned with pricing at a vet. But they gave me the option to order my meds online and offered to bring me their price sheet of the flea/tick and heartworm meds instead of just tacking them onto my bill at the end and letting me be surprised with total! They gave Norm treats and the nurse soothed him while the vet was doing the examination. They truly care about animals! more

Extremely Rude and Pushy, no Compassion 11/4/2011

After years of no issues with this Vet, I took my family dog there late yesterday afternoon, who had been it by a car. I was told right off the bat that regardless of his condition that nothing other than xrays could be done until the next day. I waited for the first round of xrays, when they told me a second was needed I asked them to call me as soon as they had the results and attempted to go ahead and pay for the xrays and the triage. I was informed that it wouldn't be necessary at that time. A little while later I recieved a call. I was told that our pet required nearly $1300 in services. When I told her that I needed some time to consider such a large expense and that I'd call her first thing in the morning, she replied that she needed an answer ""NOW"". Even though nothing whatsoever could be done prior to the next AFTERNOON, i was curious as to why I couldn't consult with my family and give a decission in the morning. She became very RUDE and pushy. I explained to her that I had my 5 year old in the car with me and could not discuss the matter at that time. She did not care and continued to try to ""Hard Sale"" me by forcing an immediate answer. I have no clue what has happened to this once stellar clinc, but I wouldn't truck these clowns to flush a gold fish for me anymore. And would advise everyone to steer well clear of them, especially if you have young children, and thier emotions envolved. Because they DO NOT CARE!! more

Stoney Creek is Great Choice 4/19/2011

I've been taking my Maltepoo to Stoney Creek for Vet services and Puppy Daycare for a year now and I can't imagine taking him anywhere else. From the first tour - I was hooked. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The front desk staff, vet techs, doctors and even the groomer have consistently provided my best buddy with loving care. Whenever he's boarded there, I know he's being well cared for and my mind is always at ease. I take my responsibility as pet owner, very seriously and with Stoney Creek - I know I'm providing my dog with the best. more

My best friend Murphy loves to come to Stoney Creek 6/7/2010

I have been bringing my 12 year old Sheltie to Stoney Creek since 1998 when it was in the Newell community. He has been through many diagnoses but each time he received the very best care by doctors, lab technicians, kennel staff and the wonderful friendly ,smiling faces as you walk in the door.\r We truly feel like family when we are there and I know that Murphy feels loved as well. Great loving, knowledgeable, stuff and doctors. 5/25/2010

I have been bringing my dog to Stoney Creek Animal Hospital for almost two years now. My dog just loves going to the vet and getting all the love and attention that he gets as soon as he walks through the door from the receptionist, the technicians, the doctors and other staff members. My dog became very ill with stomach problems and I had to rush to Stoney Creek right before closing and My dog and I still received the same care as if it was 12 in the afternoon and not 6 p.m. need less to say, my dog made a speedy recovery and I owe it completely to the staff and doctors at Stoney Creek! Charlotte's Best Vet 3/20/2010

We moved to the Charlotte area from Dallas and we were used to vet care that was both leading edge and loving. Friends and colleagues suggested several different vets but we couldn't find someone who we felt was top notch. When we asked ""who is the very best in the Charlotte area"", we repeatedly heard that Dr Rick Beldegreen and his staff were it. Dr Beldegreen has treated all of our beloved cats and dogs over the past 15 years and he and his staff are the only ones we trust with our four legged friends. In fact, we drive over an hour to reach Stoney Creek Animal Hospital because they're worth it! more

Great Care for our Dogs 3/20/2010

We found 2 one year old mixed poodles. We took them to Dr. Beldegreen at Stoney Creek Animal Hospital and found Dr. Beldegreen to be technically thorough, very understanding of our concerns for our pets, and extremely conscientious regarding the cost of care. His staff is very careful to make sure you understand the cost of all procedures up front. We believe we've found the very best medical care in the region. We love the fact that Stoney Creek offers Doggie Day Care, and boarding in addition to the complete vet care for our dogs. I Love Stoney Creek AH 7/9/2009

I have been so happy taking my 4-legged family member to SCAH. From the time I walk in the door till we leave there is a pleasant, friendly, helpful atmosphere. It is obvious that the employees (ALL of them) love what they do. The hospital is always clean. They are willing to take you on a tour without an appointment. That says a lot to me. It means they are not hiding anything. The doctors/techs are always so helpful in explaining to me what the problems are with my pet and they take the time necessary for treatment/checkups. They kept me informed on a daily basis when my pet was admitted for a long period of time. The kennel staff is always pleasant and it is obvious they love the animals. The groomers take their time to listen to how you want your pet groomed and they GET IT RIGHT!!!! I just love this place and would recommend it to anyone within the Charlotte area. Rude and overpriced 1/14/2009

I had very bad experience with this hospital over my Christmas break.My dog was sick and I was visiting family..Not familiar with the area and needing to get my dog checked out I called this animal hospital to be put on hold and treated like (no pun intended) dog crap!!The receptionist was more concerned telling me her position or job title than helping get my dog treated!!\r I would definetly not reccommend!!\r \r Laura Dixon Pros: Never found any Cons: Snobby,overpriced,Rude Staff more

Stoney Creek has been our vet for over 4 years and we love them. We use them for both medical care and boarding. They are always excited to see out dog and take great care of him!!! If you need a boarding appointment for the holidays though, you need to book months in advance. more

A very Caring and Compassionate Vet Hospital 7/21/2008

I have been bringing both my dogs to Stoney Creek for over 2 years. The front desk staff are amazing, they are wonderful, they know you by name including the names of both my dogs, they answer questions and never seem rushed or make you feel rushed. All the vets are caring and great with my dogs my favorite vet being Dr. Habel, all the vets are helpful and they are always just a phone call away if ever you have a question. Both my dogs love the staff and vets and enjoy the day care facilities which they go to often. I would highly recommend them, they are pricey but the great lenghts they go to for your pets is worth it. more

One Lucky Animal! 6/17/2008

Stoney Creek Animal Hospital is still one of our animal's favorite places to go. With almost eleven years of visits under his fur, he struts in, eager to be welcomed by all the friendly staff. With cat condos, day care fun, hydro-massage bathing, and boarding, what more could an animal need? Oh yeah, the veterinarian services are top notch too. Clou doesn't know it, but that's why we wouldn't go anywhere else. This animal hospital is NOT like all the others. more

Would recommend to anyone who cares about animals 4/4/2007

I can not comment on the previous person?s experiences, However, I can comment on my own. I have been a customer of Stoney Creek for five plus years now. I have three dogs and a cat that all have been to Stoney Creek. I am a member of ABKA, an animal rehabilitator and I have a vast experience with non-profit animal groups. My pets have seen Dr. Habel, Dr. Long and Dr. Beldegreen. I would recommend any of these fine doctors to anyone who cares about their pet?s health. True, Beldegreen is a bit ?matter of fact? - if you want more warm and fuzzy see Long or Habel. Personally, I am more concerned about the knowledgebase of my vet and the care given to my animals than the vet?s personality. They care when it counts and that?s what matters - I speak from experience on this. I know with Stoney Creek, I am getting a level of service that meets my expectation (which is high). The facility is clean and well organized. Most of the front desk staff is great, there have been one or two that were not up to my standards, but you will find this at any office. I do not board my animals there so I can not comment on the boarding services. As far as cost? They are a bit on the high side ? if you are looking for a bargain, bring you vet to the Petsmart clinic and get what you pay for. Otherwise, Stoney Creek?s fees are in line with the service and expertise you receive. more

Rude and Unfriendly Front Desk Staff 3/15/2007

I would not recommend Stoney Creek to anyone who truly cares about their pets. First of they are the most expensive in area which was not a big deal to me but the staff especially front desk is very rude and not helpful in any way. Dr. Beldegreen may be knowledgable in vet medicine and very good but he has no bedside manner whatsoever. He was rude as well and very arrogant. I will never return there and again the office is nice on the outside but beware they are not a good vet to go to. Staff very lazy up front and not professional looking. more

The Best! 11/19/2005

I was in NC for a weekend visiting with my inlaws and I needed to get an ultrasound done on my dog to comfirm pregnancy, they were able to fit me in the very next morning, they were very curtious and you could tell that they truly cared about what they were doing. The price of the x-ray was not all that expensive, and she even cut me a deal and gave her a complete physical and heart worm medication for my dog. She called me every day that week to check on her and see if she had the puppies, and told me to call back any time! more
