I wrote a review on yelp too, and you can find it under Mike L. Shaker Vet has rude staff who will ignore you or treat you badly. It seems like the vets do not care about this because it has been a problem at the clinic as long as I have been going there (taking a family member's dog). Shaker Vet frequently loses your pet's chart or file which means that the vets can be treating your dog without an accurate medical history. \r Lots of customers have noticed that Shaker Vet overbills. Enough people have had the same experience with it. The vets make commissions so customers find out when it is time to check out that they have had services performed that they did not request or that they were never told a price for.\r I think that Shaker Vet is so big that nobody cares that they lose a lot of customers because of these problems. (Speaking of being big, the waiting room is horrible for older or anxious dogs. Chaos.) more

Please don't bring your pet here. Staff is rude - I sat in the exam room for an hour waiting for blood test results while my vet took her lunch. Two different vet techs lied to me as to her whereabouts and when I confronted her she confessed. To top the visit off I was charged for blood tests and sent home with steroids and the vet told me she didn't know what the problem was. When I brought my dog in for a second opinion that vet easily diagnosed the problem without any tests. Save your money and go somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!! more

Great Vet-But beware of pricing 9/9/2010

Great service, everyone is very friendly. They did a very thorough job with my puppy, my only complaint is their price. Office visits and vaccines were reasonable, but the cost of spay/neutering there is outrageous! They suggest you use the friends of animals certificate which is around $90 for a female, and then their is an additional 200-400 charge. Other local vets charge between 150 and 300 without the certificate and they keep the dogs overnight which Shaker does not. With that being said I still take my animals there because of the care they provide, just a warning about the pricing for spaying. more

Good veterinary care, but ... 2/18/2010

Shaker Vet is a larger facility with a large number of veterinarians on staff. This gives them the opportunity to include holistic care, a definite plus. They are open every day of the week, also a plus. They appear to be more dog-friendly than cat-friendly; the waiting area does not separate dogs and cats, a negative for cat owners. Their large size also means high fixed costs. They've turned to radio and TV advertising to increase their client base and (to me) it appears almost as if they are trying to increase every bill with some kind of relatively costly service or product. They have a boarding facility with reasonable daily rates, but if you pick up your pet on Sunday, you will pay for an extra day's care because they open at noon that day and their fee schedule charges you a day extra for afternoon pickup. Their vet techs are competent, but highly variable in how they treat your animal. Some appear to care about your pet far more than others. If you have an animal with special needs or a chronic condition, be aware that they charge very high premiums if they supply you with fluids, syringes or other needed supplies. However, they won't charge to have a vet tech administer these if they've supplied the materials. Pros: Large staff, many longterm vets Cons: Expensive; always trying to increase the bill more
