Review content:
Shaker Vet is a larger facility with a large number of veterinarians on staff. This gives them the opportunity to include holistic care, a definite plus. They are open every day of the week, also a plus. They appear to be more dog-friendly than cat-friendly; the waiting area does not separate dogs and cats, a negative for cat owners. Their large size also means high fixed costs. They've turned to radio and TV advertising to increase their client base and (to me) it appears almost as if they are trying to increase every bill with some kind of relatively costly service or product. They have a boarding facility with reasonable daily rates, but if you pick up your pet on Sunday, you will pay for an extra day's care because they open at noon that day and their fee schedule charges you a day extra for afternoon pickup. Their vet techs are competent, but highly variable in how they treat your animal. Some appear to care about your pet far more than others. If you have an animal with special needs or a chronic condition, be aware that they charge very high premiums if they supply you with fluids, syringes or other needed supplies. However, they won't charge to have a vet tech administer these if they've supplied the materials. Pros: Large staff, many longterm vets Cons: Expensive; always trying to increase the bill
