Dr. Kingrey is simply wonderful 2/3/2010

Several years ago, my cat came down with an ailment which I discovered is commonly called ""Fatty Liver"". Treatment is typically a 4-6 week nurse-to-recovery process. Dr. Kingrey's care always showed good instincts, tests for confirmation, consulting with specialists down the street at GVS ( Georgia Veterinary Specialists - a state-of-the-art pet hospital complete with cancer wing), and -most impressively- genuine care and concern for my ailing pet and myself as well. She would always thoroughly explain in her gentle and positive way what was going on, treatment options, recovery expectations, would address budget concerns, and answer any questions I had. She was excellent at making follow-up phone calls to me and to the specialists, always making sure that communication was shared and up-to-date. I could tell that she was not doing this simply because it was her job, but because she genuinely cared. As part of my cat's recovery, I would have to take her to VCA for ""daycare"", as she needed to be manually fed through a tube every 2 hours, and I could not stay at home to do so. Staff there were always on top of any bobble in her recovery, and kept me informed of such. Last month, this same cat developed an ominous jaw tumor. I had since her first illness moved to another part of town and taken up with a new vet more conveniently located. Suspecting that this tumor could be gravely serious, and that both my cat and myself would need comforting treatment, I made a point of going out of my way to return to Dr. Kingrey. I have experienced the exact same thorough, competent, caring attention as I did several years ago. The rapidly growing tumor is indeed cancer. There is absolutely no other place I would have my elderly and terminally ill cat be than in Dr. Kingrey's sensible & caring hands. more

Thinking of boarding a dog with challenges here? Do so at your own and your dog's risk! 1/4/2009

Here's the story. This was the facility where our dog had his vet as well. He had one eye that worked and was deaf. Placed with their boarding staff with a very detailed list of eye drops and the written schedule of administering them. One week later, we returned from vacation to a totally blind dog! Did I also mention that he was already deaf? Our neighbor picked up our cocker spaniel 3 hours prior to our return in order to have him back on the Saturday and not Monday. We received a phone call from the vet insisting that the dog could see when he left the facility. My question was: How can a dog loose total eye sight in the only good eye after only 3 hours, when we cared for this eye for 2 years after he lost the first eye? We rushed him to the doggie eye specialist who confirmed that the pressure in his new blind eye was over 50. This was reduced down to 20 (15-20 is normal) in only 3 hours after using only 1 drop of the medication supplied to the vet. Isn't that just odd coincidence that just 1 drop could reduce the pressure in his eye? Needless to say, after several hundred dollars of applying the special eye injection to blind him permanently, we were still up to paying the hundred or so dollars for boarding him at the Doggie Bates Motel! Do yourself and most importantly, your beloved pet a favor and stay as far way from this house of horrors as you can!!!!! Cons: Boarding staff unreliable with medications for special needs animals more

Not so fabulous in recent visits... 6/16/2008

We had been taking our two dogs there for years, and it just seemed like the customer service had been declining over several visits. The last time we went, we asked that our ailing dog not be put in the waiting room with the other dogs, and requested to come in the side door. They weren't very sympathetic, and when the assistant came to take our dog he let the leash go, and our dog got loose and ended up in the middle of the road... they didn't run after him or seem to be alarmed. We've since moved to a lovely vet in Alpharetta, and would advise those whose pets need special, quality care, to find an alternative doctor, as well. I'm sure for routine check ups, they get the job done... but thats not what we look for from a vet. Dogs are already traumatized enough with the experience... why not make it as easy for them as possible? more

Most loving vets in the south! 10/10/2007

Dr. Harper and his staff are the sweetest! My dog is never afraid to come in, she is always wagging her tail and greeting everyone. The prices are incredibly resonable, especially for the location. The staff is very friendly on the phone and have helped to talk me through odd things I've found on my dog's body and I've been slightly freaked out.\r \r I will drive across town to come to their office! Love them! Pros: large clean office, prices, friendliness & knowledge of vets Cons: only open until 6:30 during the week more

Best vets ever! They treat animals with lots of love. 9/24/2007
