Great vets 2/5/2011

This place is great. I have seen 3 Dr's here and they have all been wonderful. Going to the vet can be expensive - if you can't afford it, you probably shouldn't take on the responsibility of a pet. I've never felt overcharged at this VCA location. more

Not on my worst enemy... 4/22/2010

I wouldn't refer this place to my worst enemy. The Dr. they assigned me was named Dr. Allen. After telling him another Dr. had given my cat Asia anti biotics he proceeded to give her more without giving her any kind of examination and then charges me $150. Not only did this do nothing for my beloved, but when asked to see another Dr. and asked about some sort of credit for what I paid already they got upset and told me I was not allowed to return. \r \r These people could not care less about your pet and their Dr.'s are are uneducated inexperienced morons. Avoid these crooks like the plague. more

Pet Vet 12/6/2008

This is where I bring my dog for her vet needs. Staff is nice, doctors are friendly and it is in a good location with it's own parking lot. Appointments are easy to make and prices are reasonable for exams and vaccinations. I would recommend bringing your pet here. more

Doctors good, Staff HORRIBLE!! 7/22/2008

I originally went to VCA Marina because it was convenient to my home. While the Drs seem to know their craft and do care about the animals, the STAFF is the reason I'm leaving. The ladies at the front counter are usually very nice but I've seen lots of attitude with other clients, AND they LOST my dog's file (which had lots of "expensive" data about her allergies in it), can't seem to fill a prescription in the stated 24 hour period to save them, and I've NEVER seen them get in a hurry. Pros: Doctors who seem to care Cons: Staff who make any transaction more difficult than it's worth more

VCA was very good to my Cat Mike 3/25/2008

I had just moved to Venice and my cat Mike was having urinary tract problems. I took him in to VCA because it was the closest clinic to where I lived. The vet was very good with Mike. He did a thorough examination and kept him for the day to get a urine sample. We were sent home with some medication to help with the pain of having formed crystals in his bladder. the meds were spendy but what are you gonna do when you pet is sick? The vet was very kind and urged me to call if Mike had any problems at all. The Vet even called us a week later to make sure Mike was doing OK!!! Unheard of where I come from!! It may be expensive but my experience with VCA was a good one. more

My pets are happy there.... 11/9/2007

Both my pets see Dr. Eliot here and they like him a lot - my husband and I do too. The other vets are nice too. It is a little expensive but this is L.A.'s Westside so you have to expect it will be a little pricey. more

Uncaring and money hungry 1/20/2006

My 2 year old dog was exposed to Parvo and he got very lethargic and sick so I took him to VCA Marina hospital where my neighbor had taken her exposed puppy as well. The "receptionists" put my dog and I into an examination room and left us there for over 30 minutes before a Dr. came in to breifly examine him and tell me what I brought him in for, that he thinks my dog has parvo. He left the room and 30 more minutes went by and the same receptionist that I watched talking to each other while my dog was slowly dying, came back in to give me a quote on how much it would cost to hospitalize him. Over $2000! I wanted to save my dog's life but I did not have the money so they offered me a form to fill out to apply for credit. When I told them I was from a different country and did not have a SIN. they immediately walked out of the room and would not let me read or hold onto the estimate. The Dr. did not come and see me again after his 90 second exam so I left after another 20 minutes o more

In your pets best interests 7/18/2005

My new little rescue dog Mika had a fatty tumor on her leg. I took her to see Dr. Jeff Eliot at VCA Marina. Instead of just saying of let's keep an eye on it, he immediately did a fine needle aspiration. Unfortunately it turned out to be malignant. He was very compassionate, and Dr. Stephen Thatcher did her surgery and did a wonderful job. She has clean margins, he got all the cancer, and I am hopeful for the future. I also took my dog, Lacy, to Dr. Eliot. She is afraid of strangers, particularly men. Instead of just muzzling her, he gently sat down on the floor with her, and she was putty in his hands. She loved him. I am very grateful to VCA Marina and highly recommend them. I haven't priced a lot of vets so don't know if they are high, low or in the middle. PROS: Compassionate, majority of the desk employees and techs are great also CONS: more
