Best

My 7 year old Doberman is my baby so I freaked out when she was fine one minute and unable to walk the next. Our vet diagnosed Wobblers and referred us to this hospital for surger...

Worst

This is by far the worst vet in town!!! Dr. Mcgrath is the worst, unprofessional, rude and a liar. I went there to treat my cat and was lied to the whole time, and the bill kept...

Overpriced! They care a lot more about your money than about your pet 6/16/2008

This is by far the most expensive vet in town!!! , I went there to treat my dog and they took him from my hands while a was filling out the billing information, the took him and I didn't see him for two hours. When the doctor finally called me (I didn't even was introduced to my dog's doctor before), she told me that they gave him some medication and also they made a bl. test and x-ray for him, she also told me that I should leave him overnight, that I didn't have to but that it would be the right thing to do!. Pros: Free Parking / 24 Hours Cons: Over Priced, they love your money more

Dr Sean Yoshimoto is great 3/27/2008

He saved my dog. I had a puppy throwing up and pooping blood for 4 months, went to 5 different vets with no luck of diagnosis. Dr Yoshimoto was the only one able to help us and my dog is now 18 months old and is being treated properly. This doctor is not out to get your money, in fact his suggestions are usually very concervative, and he starts the diagnostics process by trying common sense things (diet change, so on) that will not cost much. However, if those fail he is very aggressive in doing the needed tests to ensure your pet is treated properly. He is also very reachable by email and will call you back if paged pretty quick. Our dog was diagnosed with IBD and even though this condition will not go away, we went from episodes happening several times daily to them happening about once or twice a month! I was not as impressed with their emergency facility only because it's led by fellows not by experienced doctors, so I doubted their suggestions for treatment. What I like about the more

Bring your animal here at your own risk... 2/22/2008

To sum it up, I agree with all the negative reviews of VCA West LA. I have been here many times at had very negative experiences all but one time. Additionally, VCA West LA is very expensive for very low quality vet care. more

If You Care About Your Pet Don't Go Here 11/12/2007

I took my pet to VCA for surgery and had a terrible experience. Before the surgery I was not allowed to meet her surgical vet, Dr. McGrath. After the surgery, Dr. McGrath never returned a single phone call regarding my kitten's post-surgical complications, resulting in her having to return to the emergency care in the middle of the night.\r \r When I returned for her post-op visit, to have her sutures removed and her wound checked, Dr. McGrath's assistant said that she would be doing the removal and checking the wound complications, and that Dr. McGrath does not see his patients after surgery. She told us that NONE of the vets remove sutures or check wounds and that ALL procedures are done by unlicensed assistants, so I should let her take my kitten. At this point, I just took my kitten and got out of there.\r \r An hour later Dr. McGrath called me at my home, for the first time, and started screaming at me. I thought he was calling to apologize and made the mistake of speaking with h more

Not Safe for your Pets 11/12/2007

I took my pet to VCA West L.A. for surgery, and we were both treated horribly. The vet, Dr. McGrath, refused to see my pet before or after the surgery, and never returned a phone call regarding post-surgical complications, resulting in a return to the emergency facility in the middle of the night. The unlicensed assistant told me that she is the only person who will be seeing my kitten for her suture removal and post-surgical care, and that NONE of the vets ever does post-surgical care or suture removal. Pros: Free parking Cons: Your pet and you will be treated terribly, danger to your pet's life more

SCAM ARTIST!!!! 8/8/2007

This is by far the worst vet in town!!! Dr. Mcgrath is the worst, unprofessional, rude and a liar. I went there to treat my cat and was lied to the whole time, and the bill kept getting higher and higher. They are way over priced and never have their story straight. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!! more

Cannot Recommend VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. 3/21/2007

I was not treated in a courteous and professional manner at VCA W. L.A. Was referred by my vet for ligament knee repair surgery to Dr Owen for my Yorkie. After surgery I found all her front teeth knocked out. When went in to have her sutures removed I asked to speak to the vet about concerns and why her front teeth all were missing.A Dr.Cabrera, not Dr Owen, came out to the waiting room to talk to me. I was not taken to a waiting room to talk about my concerns and was spoken to in a discourteous manner in front of all the people in the waiting room. I was not informed when I left the facility that she was missing any teeth. I had brushed her teeth before her surgery and found nothing amiss. Her previous dental cleaning showed her teeth at the front were loose but not loose enough to fall out when they were cleaned or when I brushed them. I suspect they were knocked out during the operation by them inserting a tube down her throat. I am suspicious because I was not told all her more

great emergency care 11/22/2005

They have 24 hr care which I found very helpful and reassuring when my dog got sick in the middle of the night. The Dr was kind and caring and seemed genuinely concerned despite the fact it was 3am. Thanks! more

Caring and good service 11/7/2005

One advantage of this facility is the business hours. They are longer than other hospitals nearby so if you go in the evening they won't count it as emergency hours so it's cheaper. The doctors are friendly, and helpful. You can get an appointment by waiting there for about half an hour. They also carry animal food, shampoos... if you want to save yourself some time from another trip to a shop. PROS: Friendly, helpful CONS: None more

unreliable 7/12/2005

Went to this animal hospital for several years. Found the veterinarians changing often, so do not know the animal. Will not return calls. Uses assistants for veterinarian jobs. more

Large, well kept facility 6/14/2005

Part of the VCA factory -- this particular location is well maintained and has a number of good, caring veterinarians. Because of the large number of vets on staff, it's generally easy to get a same-day appointment. And, it's never been crowded when I've been there with my pets. more

For Peace of Mind 6/27/2002

This office is open 24 hours--which is something that I require in a vet, not only because making an appointment after work is usually not as difficult at 24-hour clinics, but also because I have accident-prone pets who tend to fall off the bed/eat half a sock/poke themselves in the eye/etc. at midnight. This VCA also offers low-cost vaccination clinics in the evening during the week (1/2 off!) which is great. more
