Worst Vet Ever 10/4/2011

The experience was horrible. I waited 30 minutes in line to pick him up. They are always short staffed and the customer pays for it. They charged me a few dollars short of $800 for roughly 7 hours of care. I'm not a vet, but I knew it was highly unlikely that they pumped 3 units of IV fluid into my dog in 7 short hours. I questioned this and the Apache staff reluctantly agreed that they only used 1 and offered to refund those expenses. There was medication I paid for that was never given to him. I had to point that out for them for to agree to a refund. After 30 minutes of debate, I was finally refunded $92. I returned home only to find more discrepancies, so I returned the next morning. The office Manager MARY got downright nasty with me, telling me I disrespected her vet and the rest of the staff by not wanting to speak with the vet when I picked up my dog. That woman should never be employed in a position that requires customer contact. A person in that position should never raise their voice at a client or display hostility. This was unprovoked. \r \r I had to call the corporate complaint department for further assistance. A short time later, I got a call from a contrite MARY apologizing and offering another refund of $100. Long story short, this place is a rip off. I identified nearly $200 in charges that I shouldn't have paid for in the first place. Those are only the ones I identified. Were there more overcharges? They charge too much to begin with. The total cost of services rendered should have been less than $400 (in another unnamed vet's opinion). \r \r Lastly, the attitude displayed by the vet I met with was pretty much ""pay the price or put him to sleep"". That should tell any pet owner what they need to know about VCA Apache. In my opinion, they don't care about the animal, but only how much they can gouge the owner. My dog is doing well. That's only because I got decent care at another hospital thereafter. more

Worst Vet Experience Ever 8/21/2011

I brought my diabetic dog in for treatment because he wasn't feeling well. They provided an estimate of $790 to $910 for hospitalization, testing, and care until the next morning. Having no other alternative on short notice, I consented to blood/urine testing and care just for the day.\r \r The experience was horrible. I waited 30 minutes in line to pick him up. Worst place there is. Took my cat in because he had to be put down. They gave him an exam (temperature, weight, etc.) and charged me for an office visit and an exam!!! Will never take an animal to them again. Only care about the fees that they can charge people in time of grief. more

My precious dog Angie had surgery for a mast cell tumor on 4/23/10. The surgeon was still doing surgery when we picked Angie up that afternoon; staff assured me she would call me as soon as she was finished in surgery to answer my simple questions as to whether the tumor was completely removed and when it had 'dirty margins' which indicate increased risk of metastasis. However, despite repeated messages the doctor never returned my calls. The biopsy will not be available for approximately one week; Angie sees the doctor tomorrow for bandage removal so hopefully the doctor will see fit to answer my questions at that time. I find VCA staff's behavior extremely inconsiderate and unprofessional in this matter. If you want to save some grief, unfounded worry and total lack of consideration from staff, use another provider for your pets when they have a life threatening condition!!!!! more

Excellent Care and Great Staff 10/31/2008

I am a frequent visitor to VCA Apache Animal Hospital and I have to say that they are the best. They treat me and my pets like we are part of the family. Ever since VCA took over this hospital, it has become cleaner and friendlier. My cat has diabetes and when she is there, she always feels better when I get her home. The doctors have been a great help to me and take the time to answer my questions. \r \r Sometimes I board my cat there too when we are gone for long trips and I think she gets great care. This is the best that Sierra Vista has to offer for veterinary hospitals. You can walk in anytime or make an appointment anytime. Very nice. more

Take your pets here at your own risk. 4/1/2008

I would not recommend anyone take their pets to this establishment. When we arrived for our appointments (both the cat and dog) they lost the records our previous vet sent that day! We waited almost two hours before being seen and then the tech had no idea what was going on and the vet not much better. They did not tell me what vaccines they were administering until I asked and almost forgot completely about the cat even though he was sitting in his carrier right on the table. No one could think our 50# dog was originally in the cat carrier. After this horrible impression we went to check out we were double charged and did not get the rabies certificates or tags, not realizing this until we left we called only to find out the chart was not documented with our pets vaccines so our double charge turned out to be incorrect and they wanted to charge us again! Take your pets here at your own risk. more

Wonderful End of Life experience 4/20/2007

This vet handled the end of my pet's life with remarkable care and attention. I even received a card in the mail from their staff after the event. Highly recommended folks. more

Very nice!!! 4/18/2007

My dog doesn't like men but he was really comfortable here. They were really nice and took care of my dog. He gave me some different ideas and things to use so I didn't have to buy a perscription. I really like this vet and will take my dog there again and again. more
