Editorial review from Citysearch 3/5/2013

We have been using Crown Valley Animal Care Center since 2011 when our pets moved to California. We currently have a 15 year old cat and an 11 year old Lab dog. About 1 year ago we lost our 16 year old Yorkie dog to kidney failure.\r \r Before we chose Crown Valley Animal Care Center we visited several practices in the Laguna Niguel and Laguna Beach area. We wanted to be sure that we chose the right practice for our aging animals. We strongly believe that we have made the right choice.\r \r Dr. Ivers is very knowledgeable and approachable about our medical concerns. He really treats our pets like the beloved family members that they are. He was also extremely kind and helpful when it was time to end our little Yorkie's suffering and our family got to spend the last moments with him. There was no rush and we were told to take as much time as we needed.\r \r In addition to to getting great medical care, we also use the boarding facilities for our dog and cat every time we go away. Heidi treats our animals like they were her own. Each animal is treated with their individual needs as primary concern. Both our dog and cat have dietary needs and both take medications, especially our dog who has medications given three times per day. This has never been a problem and both animals come back home healthy.\r \r Also, there is a great groomer at the facility so we almost always get a grooming on our dog's last day so he comes home fresh & clean.\r \r We highly recommend the Crown Valley Animal Care Center. more

The staff here is fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Their recommendations for food and ext.. are great. My Dog loves it here and can't wait to get out of the truck to get inside. The report cards from the staff are awesome. He has had some medical procedures done here as well, Dr Ivers explains in detail and will answer any questions you have until you feel comfortable. \r \r For those that have pets, insurance is a must. ANY treatment anywhere is expensive. more

It's all about the money 6/14/2011

Awful expirence! This Vet hospital is all about the money. They discussed my dogs treatment based on how much I could afford...iterally saying this is how much it will cost to treat your dog and if you don't have that much money to spend on your dog then we can treat him for something else for less, but you must sign a waiver...no kidding... and all this money discussion BEFORE they even examined my dog. Long story short I was distressed and scared for my dog's life; I paid for the most expensive treatment option. I believe I was scammed, but have no proof. What I offer you all is that I paid more to treat my dog for an unknown condition, then was paid to treat my husband for kidney cancer. more

Terrible Hospital to go to 2/6/2011

This animal hospital had terrible service. The employees are rude. If you call, they put you on a hold for a long time where you end up hanging up. If you leave a message, you don't hear back for hours and sometimes days. It seems like they only want your money and can care less for your animal. They talk rudely to clients and try to rush them off the phone. They need a new management & to train their employee's on customer service! Do not take your pet there unless you want rude service & to be broke. more

Horrible Customer Service 11/27/2009

I called here to see if they carried a specific kind of dog food and to get the price. They put me on hold foreverrr and when I called back the girl actually told me that she was too busy and didn't have time to awnser my question. She said if I needed to know I had to come in to the hospital and ask someone in person. more

Good experience 5/26/2009

My dog became extremely ill overnight. My regular vet was closed on Sunday, so I called Crown Valley. Although they were totally booked, they squeezed us in because it was obviously an emergency. Dr. Ivers quickly diagnosed the problem and recommended an aggressive 24-hour treatment. Yes, it was expensive, but 24 hours later my dog was much, much better and able to come home. I am more than thankful for Dr. Ivers and the rest of the staff at Crown Valley. I wouldn't hesitate to take my dogs there again. Pros: Open on Sundays, Quick and Accurate Diagnosis more

Don't give them your credit card! They are a Rip Off! 4/14/2009

In January my Golden retriever got sick, and even though we have a Veterinarian. I thought getting her to a Animal hospital was best. Crown Valley was the closest. When you walk in with a sick dog they think oh boy how much money can we get out of this one, not how we want to help your dog. The charge for x-rays and diagnostic was high $600.00.I agreed and payed.\r Dr. Ivers came in his un- professional nike sweat suit telling me that my dog had pyrometra, an infection of the uterus, but because it had not burst and her cervix was open it should be a fairly simple surgury, when I ask for the cost he ran out of the room saying his assitant does that for him\r she says it will cost $1680.00, but assures me that includes everything , no additional charges she adds, except for any extra medication , which I paid an extra $40.00 for. so ok I agree because I love my dog., I noticed on the bill for the surgury that he was charging me for additional anesthesia before the surgury was even performed, but thats ok if it's needed I think.\r I pick up my Dog and shes very lathargic, but I nurse her back to health through prayer, love and good food.\r ! month later I get a statement from there office saying they charged my card the day after surgury for $217.00 for more anesthesia, but Why didn't they call me and ask for my permission, or tell me when I picked up my dog that they had charged my card?\r I told them they had no authorization from me and it was wrong, she agreed and credited my card. 1 month later I get statement saying I owed them $217.00 and they were taking me to collections. wasn't it enough to charge $2300.00 for a surgury my regular vet told me he would have charged under a $1000.00 .My Vet .told me that Dr. Ivers has a reputation for taking advantage of people with sick pets, It's all about the money. The charges were asorbant he said. Dr Ivers will not be getting $217.00 from me for charging my credit card without my authorization! And I will dispute this charge to whatever collection agency they turn this over to. How sad that there so inpersonal , that they have to do business this way.\r more

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!! 2/11/2009

My boyfriend and I took our dog to Crown Valley Animal Hospital back in Dec. 2008 when we had an emergency and this was the only hospital we knew that is open 24 hours 7 days a week. What a HORRIBLE experience. \r \r Dr. Ivers preys on people that love their animals unconditionally and that will do and pay anything to make them well. One overnight stay, 2K later and my dog is now doing worse then when I brought him in and is 3 pounds lighter (for a little dog that?s a good amount). When I questioned Dr. Ivers about this he tried to not answer my question by telling me that he was the professional. My boyfriend and I immediately pulled our dog out of this facility and transferred him to his primary Animal Hospital.\r \r At his Primary Hospital they checked his vitals and found out that my baby was severely dehydrated and extremely doped up on a lot of different medications given to him by Dr. Ivers and staff. They also said that Dr. Ivers gave my dog a lot of unnecessary and aggressive medications and sedatives that was essentially the reason why he was doing worse. My Primary Animal Hospital took him off the sedatives, hydrated him and my baby was able to come home that night. Dr. Ivers had advised me that he was going to have to stay at their facility for another day or two.\r \r Dr Ivers had also charged me for procedures that were never preformed (lab work & IV?s) and when asked to see the results he couldn't give me any. He then tried to hurry up and take bloodwork. Do not trust this doctor! I can?t imagine what would have happened if I had not pulled my dog from this facility. I feel like he was trying to keep my dog sick so he could get more money out of us. Crown Valley Animal Hospital has a very bad reputation! Just type into Google (Crown Valley Animal Hospital Reviews) and you will see for yourself. They are also on Rip Off Report dot com. Please, Please, don?t make the mistake that we did! Stay far away from this place. Cons: Do Not Trust This Doctor! more
