Best

Utah Imports is an excellent shop. I have done business with them for many years and have always found them thorough and honest. They do great work and I have never had a reason...

Worst

This repair shop is well known in Salt Lake. However, I have found that if you are a woman alone, be sure to ask for the replaced parts. Or better yet, have a man deal with this...

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/14/2013

This summer I had the chance to review a LOT of mechanics for my ""91 VW Westfailia as I was driving across the country. I put over 9,000 miles on a new motor an visited 10 repair shops. Out of all of them I got the best service from this team and especially the owner, who really knew how to do the impossible , difficult electrical gliches. They were efficient, friendly and very helpful to an out of towner, me. They also had one of the better waiting rooms.\r I want to give them a five star raiting. more

Really impressed with the work these guys did. I had an electrical program in my 2006 Jetta TDI that was causing my battery to go dead every day (this should make any German car owner cringe because electrical problems in German cars are bad). Not only did they fix it, they fixed it with the existing parts as to not charge me for a new wiring harness and only charged me one hour of labor, had the car done in less than a day. Impressed isn't a good enough word. They really did amazing. more

My Wife and I have been going to Utah Imports for over 8 years. We have two Volkswagens and they have always provided great service for both vehicles. Jobs are completed in a timely manner and have always been done right the first time. I don't intend to ever purchase a vehicle that they do not service. more

Use your brain! 2/1/2012

If you are reading these reviews, note that most of them come from the same place. Use your brain, they have stacked the reviews to negate the honest and true ones. So here is my review, took our car in for a timing repair, told we would need to replace entire engine. $6K. Enough for 2 years tuition. For a family on a budget, that is devasting. After sleeping on it, we decided we wanted a second opinion, or check out all options. So we called and asked how much it would be to just fix the timing issue and nothing else. We were told they would either do the $6K repair or nothing at all. No options. Hmmmm.....they said it was a liability issue. It drove into the shop with a timing issue, we simply wanted that fixed and then have the engine issues looked at separately. So now it will not drive at all and we are left being forced to take their opinion or towing it somewhere else. Call the tow truck. Anyone not open to a second opinion is probably not on the up and up. Pros: null Cons: null more

UPDATED:Extremely disappointed in their dishonest practices. 12/5/2011

UPDATE: After contacting the BBB, the owner, Jeff Keller called to discuss the matter. He was very nice and tried to explain that another technician assisted in the process which was the reason for the labor charges. However, as we discussed the matter it was clear that the charge would have been the same regardless which he explained was the way 'all' mechanics do business. He is very concerned about his reputation and I don't blame him. He offered to make things right by refunding the nearly 3 additional hours of labor and I was grateful for that resolution. Pros: null Cons: null more

Helped me quickly in a pinch 9/17/2009

I was moving across the country to start a new job in California and was stopped for the evening in Salt Lake when the "check engine" light came on in my Audi A3. I wasn't about to try and drive over the Sierras with the engine indicator on and risk inflicting engine damage, so I set about trying to find a shop to help me out. I took the car first thing in the morning to the dealer (Dave Strong), but they hemmed and hawed about whether they'd be able to quickly get me in and help me (or even do a quick test to determine if the problem was serious). Unwilling to make any commitment as to how soon they could help me, if at all, the people at the dealership seemed more concerned with protecting themselves than helping me. In no position to hang around Salt Lake indefinitely while the dealer took its time finding out what was wrong with my car, I called up Utah Imports. I explained the situation, and they confirmed that they could get me in right away and figure out what was going on. So, I took the car down the block to Utah Imports. They took it in immediately, ran the diagnostics, told me exactly what was wrong, and had me on my way in about an hour. Pros: Quick and prompt help more

Helpful and Honest 8/31/2006

Finding a place that can help with all your car needs is always hard - especially if you are a single woman, who knows next to nothing about cars. From my first phone call, the guys at Utah Imports have been very helpful with both my Audi and my Jetta. They are able to tell me exactally what I need and don't try to convince me that more work is necessary. I am continually impressed with their knowledge and expertise. Please check them out if you need help with your import! They know what they are doing and are very reasonably priced. Pros: Superb knowledge, great people! Cons: Hard to find more

Honest, family-run business 5/21/2002

As the name indicates, this place deals mostly with imports, specifically VWs and Audis. Jeff Keller and his dad are honest and will usually get your repairs done in a timely manner. They don't try to sell you stuff you don't need; they are friendly and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who owns an older model VW. Pros: Honest people Cons: Hidden location more
