Uptown Plumbing, Heating and Cooling

I recently called to ask for a solution and a quote to replace our sump pump at home. The technician (Bo B.) came over and not only recommended to replace the pump but he also gave me some other tips like how to keep the outside pipe outlet from freezing. The service was done on time, very neatly and professionally. The courtesy of the technician is also noted and appreciated. more

Ben S. was very friendly and efficient. He inspected the air conditioner and showed me the results explaining everything thoroughly. He gave me the 3 options on addressing the needs of my unit. He had to work next to a massive hornet's nest which we discovered when we went to look at the air conditioner. Luckily he wasn't attacked while working. I was very pleased with his work and evaluation. more

Had a great visit with a gentlemen by the name of Michael F. Really nice guy and seems to not BS you. Gave me options and broke down things in an understandable way. Not a bad guy to have in your corner. A definite green light for your plumbing needs. more

Repairmen, Tom LaFlex was great! Our three year old high velocity whole house air conditioner stopped working. Checking the unit I saw that the overflow catch basin was full of water and a shutoff sensor had thankfully turned off the system before flooding the second floor. I siphoned the excess water and called Uptown Plumbing (who had installed the system) and they scheduled a repair person for 8:00 a.m. the next morning. Tom LaFlex showed up on time and checked the system, found that there was some blockage in the drain and that the system wasn't cooling properly. The condenser outside was overheated. Tom explained everything he saw and what would be involved in fixing it. He also explained Uptown's annual maintenance program that would cover our boiler, water heater and air conditioner. Tom got the system running again but a TXV part was needed. He told me how to cycle the cooler with just a fan to keep us comfortable until the part could be installed the next day. Tom was back first thing the next day with the part and the good news that the repair was covered under our warranty. We still signed up to have Uptown do the annual maintenance on all of our systems. Thanks, Tom, for a job well done. more

Bo came to discuss the possibility of replacing my current toilet with a new one, but he did much more than that. After looking at my toilet and flushing it a couple of times to hear how it was working, he suggested that it might be a problem with systemic draining or venting. To address that, Bo contacted the office to set up another technician to come over and inspect the draining system, which led to another referral for someone to come out and do a camera inspection of the main draining system. Bottom line: What began as my thinking that I'd need a new toilet resulted in a very thorough and systematic inspection of my system (to be completed within 24 hours) before making that decision. As always, the people at Uptown Heating and Plumbing are very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. more

Mike F. was great to work with. Informative, polite, quick, and explained all repairs before doing work. Repairs were done fast, and we have hot water again! Easily set up future tune ups and got advise on other appliances. more

Jonathan was a TRUE PROFESSIONAL!! I'm on vacation here in Highland Park, and he had to come thru the basement apt, where I'm staying. He arrived on time, was SOO Nice & Courteous, and it was SOOO HOT down where he was checking the Water Heater. Luckily the Air Conditioner was upstairs. Would TOTALLY RECOMMEND HIM & UPTOWN!! There is a reason it has been in business since 1914!! more

Never have I received better service than I received from Uptown Plumbing. The service technician that came to my home performed his duties with a high degree of technical knowledge and skill. He was very polite towards me, and thoroughly explained how my air conditional system works. He even went up in my hot attic and checked out my air handler. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. You can be sure they will have my business in the future! George. more

The technician came out and was very nice and personable. He said I needed a new AC because it was old and an important piece was shot. I'm sure that was the case and still don't doubt that. He called a sales guy over who was also very nice. He said they could put a "band aid" on it to get it to last a few weeks until I decided what to do. That same evening the AC went out again. the $130 band aid lasted less than a few hours. The sales person quoted me $4000 for a new unit. I was quoted $3000 by another company for an AC unit that is rated just as good as the $4000 one. Obviously I decided to pay less. Like I said, the two guys who came over seemed knowledgeable and were very nice, but I wasn't thrilled about paying $130 for a "band aid" that didn't work at all. more
