We Won't Be Back! 10/17/2008

The food - The waffle fries were overdone and the water-logged, over-cooked carrots that came with my meal reminded me of high school cafeteria food. The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is that the walleye was decent. That's it. The service - Spotty. The waitress was nice enough but seemed harried and we waited forever for our drinks. The atmosphere - Really Gross. The ceiling tiles were sagging and water stained and it looked like insulation was going to rain down on us any minute. Half the lighting fixtures had light bulbs, half didn't. The ceiling vent looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the Carter administration. And the bathroom? Don't even get me started. Everything in that place was dingy and dirty. I know times are tough right now but the owner could do a few things to spiff the place up a bit. I mean, how much is a can of paint and a couple light bulbs? And it doesn't cost anything to clean! I would NOT recommend Upper Deck. more

needs improving 5/12/2007

the brunch for mothers day was poor. buffett was not very tastey, boring, and always out of food.we had to let the staff know that the buffett was out of food again, and again. The buffett was in the bar area and it was dark. It wasn't a very nice cheery atmosphere for a special day for mothers. the bathrooms were in rough condition-doors broke, ran out of paper towels and no soap in men's room. I will say that the BBQ ribs were very good but that isnt enough to get me back here for another brunch. The seating was fine, spacious and we didn't feel rushed. This place needs to seriously make some cosmetic improvements and greatly improve their menu and presentation of the food on Mother's Day. Bad place to have a mothers day brunch . Pros: didn't feel rushed, spacious seating area, kids like playing pool. Cons: food quality blah, presentation of food boring, minimal effort in the buffett and it showed more

Mother's Day brunch a nightmare 5/13/2006

When I made the reservation, 5 days in advance I was confirmed for 9 persons and told it would be $11.50 per person for brunch. They weren't able to seat us in the restaurant area so they put us in a banquet room down the hall, it smelled, it was cold and damp and the table was higher on one side than the other by 4". The room was half set up and they didn't appear ready for the days business even though they weren't very busy. The food was bad and some of it was inedible and couldn't be identified. The servers were sullen because I had asked about being seated in the main section of the restaurant. There was no mention of the "free" champaigne for the mothers and I was charged $12.95 per person instead of the aforementioned $11.50. Unreal! Cons: Don't try it. more

Don't miss the Juicy Lucy! 3/9/2006

We have been to the Upper Deck two times in the last two months. Each time we had terrific wait service. My husband ordered the pan-fried walleye on our first visit and he was so happy with the size of the fillet and the way it was prepared. I just had a regular hamburger the first time, but I was "eyeing" the Juicy Lucy. The hamburger was good, their skinny french fries were fantastic! The next time we went we both opted for the "Juicy Lucy." Basically it is a huge hamburger on toasted swirled rye bread, melted swiss and sliced tomato. A huge helping of fries accompanies the Lucy. The "Juicy Lucy" satisfied our ferocious appetites and I believe the cost was only 7.95 apiece. What a deal! Pros: Inexpensive, easy parking Cons: ho-hum atmosphere more

Poor way to run a restaurant! 8/28/2003

I ate at this restaurant last Memorial Day for the last time. Our waiter was courteous and friendly. We placed our burger orders, and I presented a coupon - this is when the unbelievable began: The Upper Deck will not honor their coupons on holidays. I asked the waiter if this policy was worded on the coupon. He examined it, and discovered it was not. He said he would talk to the owner right away. Several minutes later, our waiter returned with a embarrased look on his face: "Okay, this place S****S! The owner won't accept your coupon." To make a long story short, we ate our burgers, which were okay at best, but the entire dining experience was overshadowed by the proprietor's rude and senseless decision. Stay away from this place! Pros: Immediate seating Cons: Poor management, Dirty more
