Unique Tailor

Very disappointed and will not be back. I emailed a photo of a dress I needed taken in and was told ball park $12-$14 without looking at it so I was expecting it to be more once they saw it. So I go in and try it on, they are going to take in sides, arm and shoulders and she told me $20 which was fine, then she realized there was a pocket so said that would be $8 more to move the pocket - fine again. I get my ticket showing I would owe $30 which I thought was fair. Sharon calls me the day before I am to pick it up to say the shoulders were pinned and did they need taking up because they weren't on the ticket? I said yes, sides, sleeves, shoulders - not sure why they weren't on the ticket but they weren't. I go to pick it up the next day and it's $48. yes, $48. She did drop it to $45 but had I known I was going to go from $14 to $48 I would never have had the dress altered. I paid more for the alterations than the dress. incredibly disappointed, did not get an explanation, barely got eye contact and acknowledgement and I am not normally a complainer - I don't know that I have ever done this but this required some complaints so other people don't get surprised like I did. more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE FOR ALTERATIONS. My dress has been here for 5 months and I finally had to walk out with it in pieces. Every time I had an appointment, my dress was never ready. Sharon always had it on the machine and asked if I could wait or come back. Rarely did I receive a phone to ask for more time. You could tell by the mistakes in the dress that she was rushing to get the work done instead of taking her time to get it right, even though I mentioned every time I was in there to take her time. The last two times I was in there, she actually had someone else, we had never seen there before to help her. I simply wanted the train taken off, the dress hemmed, and the hips taken in. It is a disaster. AND SHE MADE US PAY FOR IT. We negotiated a lower price, but we should have never paid for her mistakes. We all left in tears. And she was angry at us!!!\r \r I took my dress to another alterations place the next day to see if it could be salvaged or if I had to find another dress. This place said it could be salvaged but was really shocked at the work that had or HAD NOT been done. They also talked about how filthy the dress was and that we would have to get it cleaned before the wedding. Of course the dress was clean when we took it there. It was brand new. This alterations place also said mine was the third dress brought here from Unique Tailors. more

I had received a limited edition cycling jersey and needed to have it taken in, from an extra large to a size small. I visited two different tailors in the Crabtree Valley Mall area and as soon as I told them what I needed, they pushed the jersey back to me and stated “too much work”. I was a bit stunned by those responses and felt disheartened.\r \r I found some reviews for Unique Tailor online, so I went to see the owner, Sharon. She immediately asked me to put the jersey on and when I told her what I wanted, she said it would be easy enough to do.\r \r I was extremely concerned about the design and fabric being compromised, because this garment could not be replaced and stressed that to Sharon. She reassured me that it would be handled with great care and that I’d be pleased with the result.\r \r WOW! She did an amazing job and I could barely contain the excitement as I tried it on. This jersey looked incredible and fit perfectly, and the cost for the work was extremely reasonable.\r \r I work for a premium outdoor clothing company, and customers periodically ask about having our technical apparel altered. Once everyone at work saw the finished jersey, we will have no hesitation recommending Unique Tailor, and trust Sharon and her staff to do a professional job! more

My daughter and I were at another tailor with her wedding dress and that lady started talking about how she could not do this work, the dress was too thick... We nearly got in panic mode but then we called Sharon. She had us come right away and very calmly said this would be no problem. She is a grad. of Fashion Institute of Technology and she KNOWS what she is doing. She fitted the gown perfectly, in a timely fashion and her price was very reasonable too. She is a pleasure to work with. Her shop is roomy with numerous fitting rooms and large mirrors. This made the fitting much nicer than the tiny hole in the wall tailors I have used before. That was a nice plus. I highly recommend Sharon! more

Sharon at Unique Tailors worked with me and a designer friend to make my wedding dress from scratch. We provided her with the materials and a design, and she and I met 5-6 times over the course of 4 months to produce the finished product. The end result was gorgeous and completely original... I got sooo many compliments on the dress! Sharon, the owner, is professional, honest and flexible. Her technical skills are superb. And she was affordable! I would highly recommend Unique Tailors for anyone looking to create an original piece, or for your basic tailoring needs. more

I had a custom outfit that I wanted to make for my infant son, and I just did not have the sewing skills to make it myself. I wanted it to be perfect, but the design I had in mind was complicated and difficult. I met with Sharon at Unique Tailor and we worked together, and the finished product she produced was beyond all of my expectations. The project included lots of details, including snaps, a zipper, decorative ribbons, uncommon fabric, etc. She had to create something from scratch. It turned out beautifully, and I am very proud of the finished product. I am coming back with more custom projects. more

I came across Unique Tailor while looking at fabric at Printer's Alley and I must admit that it was a great discovery. Thus far, I've had three pairs of pants hemmed at Unique Tailor. The people are very professional and the service is great. My pants were finished on the day promised. I would certainly recommend using this tailor for your sewing needs.
