Editorial review from Citysearch 1/29/2014

I love this restaurant and have been many times. I work down the street and when I want to impress clients, I take them there. The decor is very nice, the food excellent, the staff pleasant. It elevates the restaurant scene in Englewood and I am thankful it is here. more

AMAZING EXPERIENCES HERE!!! SIT IN DEMITRES SECTION 7/19/2011

My girlfriend and I have come here quite a few times and we ALWAYS request to sit with Demitre. He is an INCREDIBLE waiter and is very knowledgable about the wine(s), appetizers, and food. We enjoy the atmosphere, service and food tremendously. rhis is an Italian restaurant that can compete with any other great one out their. All of their entrees are homemade and AMAZING. I enjoy the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken the best. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment. They are closed on Sundays (tradition) so that is the only unfortunate thing about this restaurant. more

Wow Rude 6/17/2010

Just called to make a reservation and the guy told me it was unlikely that I would get a reservation on Sunday for 5 because they are closed.\r It is unlikely that I will ever try this restaurant. more

Good Food Good Service! 6/15/2010

Hidden Gem 11/20/2008

Once again, I took friends to this wonderful hidden gem, and left with everyone promising to return . The service was professional, the food incredibly prepared and presented, and the ambience perfect. Finally Englewood has an establishment that rivals most Italian restaurants in the Denver area. Please spread the word as I would hate to see this lovely establishment suffer the current economical struggle. It's worth every penny for a normal night out as well as your special celebration. Pros: excellent food, perfect and attentive service more

What a great surprise! 10/5/2008

For the long-in-tooth, this location was formerly Frattelli's. I expected a re-do of the campy, Italian restaurant. NOT! The decor is hip and tasteful - modern in natural stone and warm colors. The bar is very inviting and the tables are cozy in this modern/warm setting. The martini list is refreshing, including some standards like Negronis and Manhattans that aren't the over-sugared, sweet cough-syrup tasting concoctions repeated at every other ""martini bar."" We ordered a nice bottle of wine from a remarkably robust wine list. The bottle we chose was sold out, so the proprieter upgraded at their expense - not necessary, but a very nice gesture from management working hard to make this place a success. The melon was cut into large sections and generously wrapped in procuitto that was sliced so appropriately paper thin and tender, it melted in your mouth. The calamari was good, albiet a bit over-breaded. I had Cioppino. Wow! I sopped every bit of the delicious, lightly spiced sauce with their fresh bread. My wife and her friend both had a delicious piece of Mahi with grilled polenta and fresh beans. I snuck a few bites from her plate and wondered if I should have ordered that. It was delicious as well. My buddy had a great plate of spagetti with huge shrimp in a spicy sauce. The most expensive thing on the menu was $24, and most was between $15 and $18 with the pastas being even a bit less. We finished off with a terrific tasting creme brule and an after dinner drink. The only disappointing surprise was that this restaurant wasn't packed on a Saturday night! (Good for us, as we got a good table. But I worry about places like this getting enough business.) There really isn't anything like this in this part of town - and it would compare well to most top tables anywhere in the city! I will try it for happy hour and see how it rates. At this point, I'd rate it: ""Highly recommended."" Pros: Great food in great, hip atmosphere. Cons: Unexpected location. (If I lived in Cherry Hills, this would be a weekly stop-off!) more

Fantastic Italian food! 11/16/2007

The neighborhood is lacking, but once you're inside the restaurant, you'll be quite surprised! It's quite elegant, the wait staff is VERY attentive, and the food will amaze you. We've frequented this restaurant several times, and have never been disappointed!! The food is intermediately priced, and I can't say enough how fantastic all of the dishes are. Check this restaurant out! It was also nice to meet the owner of this restaurant... it's always nice to support local business persons. Pros: Great food, great wait staff, reasonable prices for what you get. Cons: None. more

Undici Ristorante 9/29/2007

I took my husband to celebrate his new job and this was one of the best meals we have had in Denver. I wasn't sure what to expect, from previous reviews on this site it seems to be a place that one either loves or hates! We had reservations and were promptly seated on our arrival. The service was very attentitive and the staff knowledgable about the menu. I had the sauted salmon; it was beauitfully cooked and melted in my mouth. My husband had pasta; which was homemade and perfectly cooked with a well seasoned meat sauce. \r \r The atmosphere is very nice but, a little loud. A frequent complaint of mine on restaurants.\r \r We will make Undici a frequent destination for future evenings out. Pros: Ambience, Fabulous Menu Cons: A little loud more

priceless 5/14/2007

all i have to say is if you dont leave undici ristorante completely satisfied, your lying. where else can you find a couple more passionate about business than alex and dina kallas. very sincere about their service and very detailed about their food. they make sure they treat all of there customers like family because when you dine with them, thats how they want you feeling ""family"". they have been in the business for a very long time and have rare skills in customer service you can only find with in the family. alex knows food and trust me will make sure you are taken care of in his establishment. the place is beautiful, clean, and desireable. nice crowd, excellent valet service, and very friendly atmosphere. I would recommend this place to the president. if u like steaks also try there other place steakhouse 10. incredible. Pros: excellent service, great food, lovely atmosphere more

Only for those who truly know fine Italian cuisine. 3/12/2007

From the ashes of Fratelli's comes the fantastic new reborn and much improved Undici. The chefs were taken from the homeland of Italy and Greece. \r The Mediteranean ambiance has a quality only exceeded by the quality of what can be seen as Mama's homemades and the elegance of the neighorhood finest Italian restorante.\r I have dined there many times. To say that the Undici rigatoni is anything less than perfect is to say that you do not know Italian food.\r My service is always immediate and there is no hesitation between courses other than polite allowance for one to savor the courses. If one wants to put a rush on it, one may. However, what is the need?\r The host and hostesses are the owners themselves. They care about you. Where else?\r The wine and liquor is ultimate quality. If you have little ones who do not drink, they may be entertained by the fountain.\r The waiters and waitresses are hand-picked and very sensitive to every aspect of the dining experience.\r If you want a fantastic dining experience, come to Undici.\r There is ample parking and if you prefer it, valet parking.\r I would like to accentuate any compliments that could be given to this fine eating establishment.\r You probably would enjoy this eatery even more if you knew that the restaurant is family owned and caters to not only families but any prospective patron who comes through its doors with the attitude of 100 per cent customer service.\r Come in and receive a friendly greeting. Be catered to by fine Italian chefs from the old country. Taste the beverage of your choice superbly served by the expert wait staff, be it wine or non-alcoholic. Also do not forget you may want an after-dinner cappucino or espresso.\r A restaurant like this can only be produced as it has been produced: from a fine restauranteur family.\r Do not let lesser perceptions shadow the perfection you may enjoy here.\r I personally dine at Undici weekly and would not have it any other way. more

below average italian with a hefty price 12/19/2006

first and last time at this overpriced restaurant. trust me i dont mind paying for a good meal but the only highlight was the waiter. i went with family from out of town and truly felt embarrassed. the food was below average at best and we had to wait over a half hour between courses. all i can say is BEWARE!!!!! more

The worst 11/3/2006

The best part of the evening was when we were out the door. We had to wait almost 1/2 hour for our table and we had reservations! Our wiater was just too inexperienced. He took our order for a bottle of wine and then about 10 minutes later he returned and asked ""did you order wine?"" Well another 5 minutes and it finally arrived. We ordered our entree at the same time as our appetizers. After they cleared our initial plates it was another 1/2 hour before our main course. We complained about the service and the waiter wanted to debate the reason for the poor service with us. They did offer to buy us another bottle of wine which we refused ( they did deduct the original bottle from the bill). We would much rather have paid full price price and had a better experience. The food, after all of this, was just adequate.\r \r It is a shame as we had high hopes. \r Pros: Valet Cons: Everything more

Best Italian in the city! 11/1/2006

Been there 5 times and NEVER been disappointed in any way. The best Italian. Not necessarily inexpensive, but worth every single penny!!! One of my favorite restaurants!!! Pros: The best Italian in the city! more

very good atmosphere; good food - but small portions, and therefore cannot justify price 10/17/2006

i went here because this used to be one of my favourite italian places (fratellis) until it went down hill and went out of business. we did not know it was this upscale (we were in jeans and collared shirts only), but they let us in without question. the atmosphere is very nice, however the pop/rock music was a little too loud and did not set the mood very well. we came a bit early (5 pm) so it was basically empty and service was phenomenal. we both ordered the special (a veal tortellini in a mushroom sauce). it was pretty good, but there were only 10 tortellinis for 20 bucks. i cannot justify that price unless it was (as the other review described it) orga!smic. and it was quite good, but a little heavy. if i wanted to be negitave, it was like hamburger helper with gourmet mushroom sauce or on the positive side a nice blend of flavours that was a little too heavy and salty. i ordered the creme brulee for dessert, and it was very good, but a little bit too sweet. overall, it was a nice experience, and if i was in the neighborhood (i live in aurora/parker, so its pretty far), and i wanted to splurge, i would eat here, but otherwise it was nothing to really write home about.\r \r happy dining! Pros: pretty good food, great service, very nice atmosphere Cons: unjustifiable price, food a bit heavy more

Palletially Org@smic!!! 8/9/2006

Dear gawd--help me for I have Zinned at Undici's. I have NEVER in my life moaned so loud whilst eating. I read the other review here about the ""greasy pool"" in the noodle dish--and, I know what they mean, but that is called BUTTAH--and, they do it right over there. \r \r Let me recommend to you that before you die, you try Undici's Gnocci--but, with butter sauce and parmesan. Ask them to go light on the butter or oils if you prefer. They don't offer the Gnocci with butter and parmesan on the menu specifically, but you CAN order it like that! Turns out, that the chef is world famous and has won international awards for his Gnocci. I've tried it 2 other ways there--and you JUST CAN'T GO WRONG. \r \r They also serve the best dirty martini's on earth (okay, wouldn't know that for a fact, but it feels like it!), and their service is UNCOMPARABLE! It is family owned and operated and you about get treated better by them than your own family :) \r \r Try the Tri-Calore salad and their Red Zin. Be prepared to Meg-Ryan like no other. Oh, and ask to be served by Andreas--he is wonderful. Everyone who works there is just so hospitable! \r \r Who cares about any waiting--just sit in the bar and enjoy yourself.\r \r Okay, I feel better now about spreadding the word...I've been there 4 times this month, alone! Pros: Ambiance, SERVICE/HOSPITALITY, Gnocci Cons: That the chef is not on call 24/7 more

Be careful what you order. 6/13/2006

My girlfriend ordered the spaghetti with shrimp marinara and found it quite delicious. I had a small bite and must admit it was very flavorful. However, don't make the mistake I did and even think about ordering the rigatoni with home-made sausage ...Not only was it was greasy and unappetizing, but it tasted almost creepily identical to the 'budget gourmet' three meat lasagna t.v. dinner you can get at many supermarkets for less than a dollar. Except for being far more of a heart-stopper. This plate literally had a deep pool (more than a milimeter) of grease sitting at the bottom of it. I found myself struggling to try to eat the noodles from the side of the plate, and trying to avoid letting them take a bath in the thick pool of concentrated excess fat. I couldn't even eat more than a third of it before my body cried out at me to stop. \r \r \r So in summary: Some food here may be quite good, but be carefull. Some of the dishes are not only uninspiring to the palatte, but actively gross. \r \r Pros: Valet parking Cons: Very greasy italian more

Mouthwatering food, boisterous dining room 6/13/2006

Me and my boyfriend walked to Undici on a Wednesday night because it was nearby and viewed a menu, deciding to sit down for a meal. The wait extended the hostess's original expectation; meanwhile bartenders asked us twice about drinks. The overall service and attention was prompt. I ordered the spaghetti with tomatoes and jumbo shrimp and he ordered the rigatoni with homemade sausage and pancetta. Spaghetti can vary wildly and I was admittedly worried about getting a bland or overly sweet sauce. Upon the first few bites I immediately found my dish to be interesting, but as I went on to discover the tasty tomato chunks, generous garlic shavings and basil seasoning I became thoroughly impressed. I at first declined a taste of the rigatoni based on it's appearance alone, but quickly agreet to a food swap. He was impressed with my dish while I agreed that his was excessively greasy and bland (shouldn't homemade sausage be more flavorful than average ground beef?) We had some difficulty communicating across the table due to the dining room noise and, to bring that to a climax, there was a birthday party upstairs. The decoration was psuedo-fine dining with a bad club-like lounge near the front bar. The waitress was busy or tired enough to overcharge us for one entree, but fixed it. If I return it will be to order take-out and avoid the noise and the rush of late night at Undici. Pros: Massive portions, food arrived quickly Cons: Noisy, inconsistent food quality more

ELEVEN OUT OF TEN 5/2/2006

My experience at Undici was absolutely perfect. From the moment we entered the elegant space my wife and I were greated with warmth and enthusiasm. The atmosphere was wonderful and THE FOOD EVEN BETTER. My wife and I had a wonderful wine suggested by our waiter, whom was very friendly and gave us just the right amount of attention. We had the gnocchi as an appetiser, it was amazing! My wife had the spaghetti with shrimp in red a red sauce and she loved it. I had chicken in a light gorgonzola sauce it was fantastic. For dessert we shared a tiramisu, AWSOME! The portions were good sized and fairly priced. This restaurant is a must! Pros: very roomy, great parking Cons: littlle noisy more

Customer Neglect 4/20/2006

I realize the restaurant is family owned but this was ridiculous! We made reservations and still ended up waiting 30+ minutes for a table. Once we were seated they handed us our menus and gave us a couple cups of water. about 20+ minutes later they come for our order, fine.. so we get our $20+ a plate meals and are severly disappointed. My fiancee ordered the ravolli and recieved about 4-5 ravollis total. I ordered kind of a veal with squash dish and it was not at all appetizing! They never came back to ask us if we wanted drinks or refills on our water. Meanwhile the employees were sitting at a table in the corner socializing. Rediculous! The only thing I would give them credit for is their desserts. The tiramisu was great. Pros: atmosphere Cons: price, service, food more
