We went to the all you can eat Friday, and we found our limit. Barely warm ribs slathered in room temperature sauce. The day before we had tried to go and were told they were shut down due to an electrical problem. It's aparent these ribs were what they were able to cook before that; barely warm and obviously not fresh, little flavor and much fat. We found out it's no longer the original Uncle Wally's, having been sold a short a time ago, and it shows. The new owners do not have the touch or the feel for making ribs ""to die for."" The pulled pork sandwich was also disappointing; dry, tough, not even on the bun. Thanks, but we'll make our own next time. Pros: Cute logo Cons: Everything else more

Based on the glowing reviews on Citysearch, I was really looking forward to this place. We went on a Saturday evening and must have been served all the left-over meat from the week. The brisket was dry and tough, the chopped brisket was mostly gristle, and the ribs were also dry and flavorless. The sauce wasn't very good (way too spicy) and without it, everything was very bland. Maybe at lunch time during the week, everything is fresher and more flavorful, but based on this experience, we won't be returning. more

I haven't ever felt compelled to write a review and by no means an expert. I am just your average Joe. However, I really like this place I have been to a few BBQ places In Portland and this one I think is the best around. It has a real down home feel not like the big chain BBQ places. I love there mustard rub pork, they have fork tender brisket. Friday is all you can eat ribs for $11.50 how can you beat that (and their really good) ? I have yet to find anything like it. The prices are very reasonable I would recommend this to everyone who likes BBQ. Great Job Guys keep it up. I am absolutely going to be back. There is some new owners we met when we stopped in for BBQ today. They are a breath of fresh air. Not only was the BBQ the best ever, All the meat was trimmed and not full of oil like some of the other places in town, the service was terrific. Uncle Wally's just catered a luncheon for my small business and it was fabulous! The staff was very friendly, plus the food was awesome! I've eaten a lot of bbq, but Uncle Wally's was wonderful and better than any other bbq I've had. I really appreciated that the catering was arranged to meet our specific needs. Uncle Wally has gone into retirement and sold his BBQ joint. They are keeping the name but Wally no longer has anything to do with this place. With that said I had really fatty brisket sandwich here a few weeks ago. I hope this is not a sign of what is to come. The ribs are solid and the beans are good too. You can't go wrong with the Pulled pork. Wally used a pellet style BBQ. In my opinion I don't think you get the best flavor from pellets. Really good pork ribs & Honey Mustard BBQ Sauce. That dsnichole person must live under a rock. This is REAL BBQ. How can someone like dsnichole review and visit 75 restaurants in 2 days?\r Sides are excellent and the ""real"" Jack Daniels"" SweetPotatoes are ""the bomb"".\r dsnichole doesn't even like meat and writes BBQ reviews... what's that. This is just my opinion but I don't really like the food here. The sauce is really not very good and the meat wasn't very good either. The best tasting BBQ we have ever had. It 's the best BBQ sauce that makes all the meats taste good - the ribs, the pulled pork, the briskets and the best tasting BBQ chicken !! The pricing is very good and the flavor is very much worth it. The sauce is fresh and not salty and no preservatives. We love the sauce so much that we bought a few extras to give as gifts to out of town relatives and freinds and they all enjoy the flavor and are surprised that it's from Oregon! \r :) Raves from Sumalee and Family in Tigard :)\r \r more

This not only has the best BBQ meats but the cole slaw with horseradish is excellent, the potatoes salad comes with horseradish or regular, they are both incrediable (my favorite is with the horseradish). The corn bread is great. The beef brisket, pull pork and ribs are a must. I am very picky about food but when I come across something I like, I should be in sales. There is not one item that I have had so far that I wouldn't buy again. My whole family asks if we haven't had it for a couple of weeks and we never eat out. So anyone who like BBQ or just home cooking must try Uncle Wally's Southern Cross BBQ to really appreciate what I am saying. I would be willing to bet they would become a regular customer. uncle wally's bbq and uncle wally's southern cross bbq at one time was one in the same....uncle wally sold to a real texan thus adding the southern cross to the name i cooked for both uncle wally and for the texan and the food was in high demand...customer service was excellent. the hours were accommidating even to the weekend bbq lovers....given the fact that the restaurant was located in the industrial area of wilsonville... the customers still manage to find us...as of may 2, 08 i no longer cook there and to all the original customers and future customers i want to say i'm am very sorry things worked out the way they did...uncle wally (walt sims) and (chris reynolds ""the texan"") had a good thing going and his food was the rave! ...... just ask anyone who ate there prior to may 08..\r \r i wish the best for the new owner but i just want to say most people don't like change until they are ready and them the change needs to be done slowly and with the customers acceptance....i wish i could help some how to bring good bbq back to the wilsonville area. more

their beef brisket with ranch instead of q-sauce is the bomb. i can't do spices. i love the smokeiness of the brisket lots of great flavor, you know how to smoke it, dude!!! Uncle Wally's catered our recent event and everyone loved the food! The evening went smoothly because of the professional service, friendly staff, and delicious food. Uncle Wally's was easy to work with and helped us make this event a huge success. I didn't have to worry about a thing - it was all taken care of. I highly recommend their bbq and catering! more

Uncle Wally's Southern Cross BBQ has definately the best of the best barbecue around.....Lean meats, fresh smoked daily, with creative daily special to boot, Uncle Wally's catering and Holiday Menus are fit to be tied. Pricing is great, and it's fun for all environment is a hoot for all.\r \r I just got a look at the holiday menu, wow! Prime Rib, Tri-tip Steak along with whole bound and tied smoked turkey breasts! I know I am going to utilize these services instead of being stuck in the kitchen. They are willing to customize any menu, and have no problem with special requests. Wally's throws the best barbeque in town. From 50 - 750 they have given me outstanding service for our Customer Appreciation BBQ's. I gave them the count weekly and I didn't need to micro manage. They arranged all the rentals and the DJ and they showed up and performed. I give them the Blue Ribbon for best food/ BBQ Style in a large party atmosphere! Pros: It's a party, what more can I say! more
