Editorial review from Citysearch 11/16/2012

I couple of weeks ago, two of my friends and I had a terrible experience with this restaurant. The waitress was awful. When I complained to the manager, nothing was done. In fact the service go worse. The waitress Kristen, even threw the food one the table. As we were leaving, we were charged for croutons for our salad. When we left, the waitress said, ""I got your number motherf&#kers."" WOW this made me really upset. Again, I tried to talk with the manager, but she was gone for the night. It was a Saturday night, shouldn't a manager been on? I followed up with the store on Monday and the owner refuse to talk with me. I was told there would be a meeting and I would get a call back. I never did. I called just a few minutes ago and was told she still worked there and it was a private business and that I was the one in the wrong and I acted crazy. This couldn't be further from the truth. I did get upset, and the waitress was extremely unprofessional and rude. The food was decent, but not worth the trip or money more

not the best but decent 11/28/2010

This surely is not the best pancake or breakfast place but it is good and it tolerates loud and obnoxious guests 24/7 yep you can fall of your chair laughing the waitress will come and help you up. The service was friendly both times we went. prices are ok, food is good. Atmosphere...well it is not anything fancy but that is certainly not what i expected. It's a good place, nothing to brag about but nothing to completely turn down either. more

DONT GO!!!!! 4/23/2010

730am on a Friday morning. The atmosphere: Smells like an ashtray from stem to stern. The moment you walk in the door the smell is overpowering. To my surprise, no one was even actively smoking at the time - but eventually, when someone did light up, the 'ventilation' system was completely inadequate. Dirty coffee mugs waiting on the table - supposedly clean, until you see that there is food still stuck to the inside lip of the mug. 70's style decor with dark brown trimming and carpeting. Grumbling waitresses shuffling back and forth across the floor. The food: In a word - awful. The eggs over easy where the only thing not disgusting, but the credit for that I think can be assigned to the chicken, not this abomination of a diner. Typical bad diner coffee. The bacon is deep fried cardboard, leaving an uneasy greasiness in your mouth with a flavor only a dog could enjoy. The sausage links where tiny cylinders of nasty. overly spiced and no 'snap' to them whatsoever. The Pancakes should have been the highlight, right? NOPE. Overly dense and mealy, the heaviness of each bite will tear a hole in your pallet and have you running for the bathroom. Adding to the awful experience is the giant false banner on the outside of the building promising a 6dollar-or-so combo of pancakes, eggs and meats. Inside, you'll get to see that the prices are much higher and overall well overpriced for the extremely low quality of food, atmosphere and service. If you want a good breakfast go to chris's pancakes right down the road from there. It is better on every conceivable level than this poor excuse for a diner. Even in the middle of the night there is a better 24hr diner option close by in the city diner on south grand. In short - DONT GO!!! Pros: open 24hrs Cons: bad food, overpriced, smells awful, dirty more

Great Pancakes 12/18/2008

The pecan pancakes are me favorite. This place is open 24 hours and can busy on the weekends. You may wait in line, but that wait is well worth it. The service is great as well. more

Plate situation 12/16/2008

It is a bit smokey in there, and I myself smoke! I have been going there for years- and what bothers me the most is when your group orders something, the waitress will stack the plates all across his/her arm and when you get your food, there is a big indention in your pancakes, toast, hashbrowns.. whatever- of the plate they had stacked on top of it when they were walking it to your table. I HATE IT. It is disgusting that they had the bottom of a plate on my food. I dont know about you, but i have worked in restaurants and I know what goes on in a kitchen, and I do not want the bottom of the plate on my food. Also, they cannot add sometimes. My family orders the EXACT same thing every single time we go there and the check is different every time- LOL. One time we even went with with a friend and told them to split the check. The split checks together added up to 20 dollars more than the original check actually was. That was the last straw for me. It is crazy that they can not even get my check right- at any given time. Pros: good tasting food Cons: check will be different every time, they will stack plates leaving a big imprint on your food more

A Great Breakfast Hangout! 10/2/2006

Best Potato Pancakes I've ever had. The portions were large, the food was prepared right and the experience was positive. My kids liked the food there as well, and they never agree on anything. Even bought a t-shirt advertising the place for a friend back home named Bill. Hesitated a little on the front end as it feels like you're walking into an old bar/tavern (complete with the neon sign out front). We were greeted warmly once inside and the server we had was very good and very attentive. We were in a non-smoking area and were fine there. Would definitely visit again next trip to St. Louis. more

Mediocre, at best 9/16/2006

Ordinary food in a not-so-clean environment. Also a bit over-priced for the quality. It's convenient and service is prompt, but I'd prefer to eat where the floors are clean, the air is clean, and the staff doesn't smoke a few feet from my table. Cons: Smoke-filled air, dirty floors more

Service is great 9/1/2006

This place is so good! It is very popular and there is always a crowd there on the weekends. The food is really good and all home made. The service is really friendly and quick. They are very accomodating for small children with highchairs and boosters as well as a children's menu. I would highly recommend eating here. PROS: Great food and service. CONS: more

Beyond compare... 7/30/2006

I did not know what I was missing until I stepped into Uncle Bill's and experienced buttermilk pancake-induced euphoria! You see, Uncle Bill's pancakes are not your typical, run-of-the-mill flapjacks being panhandled (pun intended!) by most chainaraunts (chain restaurants); they are an experience all their own! With so many varieties to choose from, you're sure to find a favorite...I know I did!!! PROS: Great pancakes and a wide variety of other breakfast choices! CONS: more

It was okay! 8/23/2005

Uncle Bill's pancake and dinner house was okay, but nothing to write home, or here, about. I had to try the pancakes since it was a pancake house, but to be quite honest, I like the IHOP more. Sorry Uncle Bill. more

Really good food and value 2/12/2005

The food is really good and the price is right. They have GREAT hot chocolate on those cold winter nights. Pros: Good , Priced right, Good parking Cons: Smoke travels more
