730am on a Friday morning.
The atmosphere:
Smells like an ashtray from stem to stern. The moment you walk in the door the smell is overpowering. To my surprise, no one was even actively smoking at the time - but eventually, when someone did light up, the 'ventilation' system was completely inadequate.
Dirty coffee mugs waiting on the table - supposedly clean, until you see that there is food still stuck to the inside lip of the mug.
70's style decor with dark brown trimming and carpeting.
Grumbling waitresses shuffling back and forth across the floor.
The food:
In a word - awful.
The eggs over easy where the only thing not disgusting, but the credit for that I think can be assigned to the chicken, not this abomination of a diner.
Typical bad diner coffee.
The bacon is deep fried cardboard, leaving an uneasy greasiness in your mouth with a flavor only a dog could enjoy.
The sausage links where tiny cylinders of nasty. overly spiced and no 'snap' to them whatsoever.
The Pancakes should have been the highlight, right? NOPE. Overly dense and mealy, the heaviness of each bite will tear a hole in your pallet and have you running for the bathroom.
Adding to the awful experience is the giant false banner on the outside of the building promising a 6dollar-or-so combo of pancakes, eggs and meats. Inside, you'll get to see that the prices are much higher and overall well overpriced for the extremely low quality of food, atmosphere and service.
If you want a good breakfast go to chris's pancakes right down the road from there. It is better on every conceivable level than this poor excuse for a diner. Even in the middle of the night there is a better 24hr diner option close by in the city diner on south grand.
In short - DONT GO!!!
Pros: open 24hrs
Cons: bad food, overpriced, smells awful, dirty
