Ugly Duck

When I went to The Ugly Duck, the first thing I told them was I needed items that were in stock or at least at a local warehouse to be available within a couple of days. I completely understand that items are messed up because of the shortage of items in the world and that is why I said this upfront. Within a week we got a call that our entire order was ready, doors, trim, shiplap, and casings. I showed up with a friends trailer I needed to borrow because of the length of the boards, only to be told they only had the shiplap and the doors. Another 10 days goes by and get a call to say the trim and casings were ready, I took off work early again but this time needed to rent a trailer. Must to my dismay, when I got there, I was told only the casings had arrived, not the trim. Don’t believe anything they say about stock coming or being in a local warehouse, this stuff is clearly not here, and then to be called twice and have my time wasted was just an terrible experience. more

I went to the Ugly Duck yesterday for a hollow door(not pre hung) but drilled. Nothing special needed. Upon asking a very kind gentlemen (new hire) tried to assist me and was not able to. Quinton came to assist. I explained what I was looking for. He stated he could get me a used door with defects for $60. I explained there must be a mistake as a friend of mine bought a door for $10. Quinton rudely stated not here. I explained that a new hollow door that was not prehung but drilled was $32.00 at Lowes brand new. Quinton rudely told me you should take that avenue, sometimes that just the way things work out. I was shocked, first by his rudeness and secondly by the fact that they have "hundreds of doors" but want to sell them for more than the cost of a new door. During one of my calls to the Ugly Duck to ask a few questions I was told by Quinton that they work of commission so please ask for him upon my arrival. I now understand the pricing although not the rudeness. I should have read the other reviews on this company before going there. My advice, look elsewhere, .... more

Pavel gave us great customer service with our large custom door order. When we weren’t satisfied with part of our order, he made it right. We love the doors we got. more

Just don't go there unless you can fix defective items. You actually can find better quality items online now for a lower price. They don't stand behind their product and you can read over and over it is the consumers fault for whatever reason they have reshearsed. more

We bought 5 unfinished doors from Ugly Duck - wife didn't like them - tried to returned them, still wrapped in plastic, I even loaded them out of the warehouse, they charged a 20% restocking fee. Asked to speak to management, they were rude and unwaivering, I filed a complaint with the BBB. Really left with little choice but to keep the doors - then I figured out that they're oversized and had to be cut down and took them back and paid to have them cut down to the standard size. When my wife went to pick them up management (Nancy) yelled at her, would not give her the doors unless we called BBB and redrew our complaint - yelling, name calling - wife calls me sobbing from store and doesn't know what to do. I requested to talk to the owners and indicated that if they didn't let us have the doors that we had already paid for and paid to have fit, the next call would be from an attorney. They finally agreed to let us have the doors - so 1) 20% restocking fee - in this day and age is ridiculous, can you imagine if a major lumber, hardware store charged 20% for restocking an unopened product how long they would be in business? 2) the old adage "the customer is always right" does not hold true here - not only are you wrong, if you disagree they will publicly humiliate you - it was so bad the sales person teared up and apologized to my wife when the owner wasn't looking. more

We bought 23 knotty alder doors plus trim. Jen was very helpful and even talked us into smaller trim(which was the right decision) She also came out to our house to verify the measurements and number of doors needed. The doors are beautiful and the price beat everyone else. Of course we had a big order but she did not know that initially. Thanks Jen and Ugly duck for helping us to make our new house beautiful! more

Good: Good price for what I thought I was buying but did not get.. Bad: No Customer satisifaction. Service is slow rude, nasty and you get insulted.. Improvements: New ownership. Other: Greed comes before the customer.. more

I needed a 34 in exterior door. After calling several other places I was told it was a “custom size” and it would need to be ordered. It would take at least 10 business days to get. I called Ugly Duck and they said they could help me and that I had a few options. I got there and found out the hard way that I did not have all the information I needed. They were very helpful, knowledgeable and patient while I tried to get all the demission’s I needed. I was able to pick up my beautiful new door within 24 hours. Thanks for keeping my remodel project on schedule. more

if you live in spokane you can expect to find every sort of person ..working or not. even if they hire meth addicts .alchoholics. or what have you.. at least these people are willing to work and this small business is willing to hire w\out discrimination! thankyou ugly duck and my small business will continue to shop and support you! even from afar.. ocean park wa. lakeside clng svc. more

John the owner enthusiastically showed us some incredibly exotic looking entry doors that seemed reasonably priced. I just wished we could afford them right now. The warehouse had a huge and lovely selection. I would rate my experience at 4 stars Lynn Maguire more

The salesman I dealt with smelled like booze and acted very.. disinterested in my business. It took MONTHS to get my order in and when it arrived I was not notified, I had to call in 2 weeks later to find out it had been waiting. When I talked to my saleman, his attitude was poor, he acted like he was doing me a favor by coming to give me my cabinets. I ordered one additional cabinet as an afterthought and this cabinet was also late... Ive had the countertop guys waiting for weeks and these guys cant get their act together.... more

BEWARE WITH IN STOCK KITCHEN CABINETS WE JUST LOST $600. Nancy is a liar she will do anything to get the money from you and give you bad broken cracked scratched and chipped stuff. You can call me I'll tell you more. more

Penny Gram was very inconsiderate and rude to me when I asked her for help locating an item. She spoke down to me and implied that I was stupid as if I did not know what I was talking about! I believe she was on drugs at the time. I am very disappointed that any business working with the public would employee a person of her nature!!! more

The Ugly Duck is always advertising great prices and great products. When we filed for the permit to do our home addition, it became public record and we started getting flyers and ads from local building companies, The Ugly Duck was one of those companies that sent us a flyer. My husband and I went to The Ugly Duck yesterday morning to see if we could find a double vanity and cabinets for our master bathroom. They had lots of beautiful wooden doors, all shapes and sizes. Most of them were very beautifully detailed and made of the best woods, I wish I neede a new door - they were beautiful! The bathroom vanities and cabinets they had were not as nice as the doors and we weren't impressed with the selection or the quality of any that they had on display. Most of them were cheesy looking and highly over priced. The Ugly Duck is located on the corner of Sinto and North Ash in Spokane. Many people call the are Felony Flats. more
