Best

Thank you City Search for pointing me to TunaTown! You cant go wrong with their Sushi. The Young Blood, Crouching Tiger and the Salmon Amazing... My Girl Friend had the Kobe Burge...

Worst

This place is ok, nothing special. I recommend going on a slow night unless you enjoy waiting forever for the food to arrive. The food is good, it just takes way too long usually,...

well...it's a good date or partying place..the food, no way. 6/24/2007

I'll get right down to it. Look for a sushi chef's diploma anywhere...nope, you wont find one. The sushi is edible, at best. Who the heck is this guy preparing raw fish for me? How many years did he apprentice? At least cooking school for 2 years? Nope...it's a dude who is a friend of someone. I don't trust him to closely inspect raw flesh for tiny living creatures...and you shouldn't either. Great place for being rowdy and a bit tipsy....fun place. Stick to the cooked food. I mean it. more

AMAZING 5/22/2007

The woman below me was completely rude to the managers of the restaurant. She even went as far as calling one of them a b**** to her face when the manager had walked over and had been completely sweet to them. She and her boyfriend were rude to the hostess who has only worked at the restaurant for a few weeks and had no way of resolving the woman's problem. They stood at the front yelling at the young girl. EVERY PLACE MAKES A MISTAKE ONCE IN AWHILE! TUNA TOWN IS AN AWESOME PLACE TO GO. Its good for dates and parties and kids...until a certain time. A few weekends ago Marc McGrath from sugar ray even came in. David Silveria, the owner and drummer of korn, is there almost every night as well. Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: NOTHING more

TUNA TOWN NIGHTMARE 5/17/2007

We went to Tuna Town last Friday night. We were seated quickly and ordered shorly after that. Our food came in spurts thur the evening and in random order main courses were coming out before appitizers. It took for ever to get our drinks and only 1 water came for a table of 4. The table was not cleared until the end of the night despite our efforts to keep stacking the empty dishes on top of each other. When the bill came we decided to split the bill between 2 of us. Thats when the night mare started. My bill total was 109.55 with tip and they charged my account 114.66. They also added an authoraztion for 114.55 that sat on my account for 3 day bouncing my checks and addind NSF fees to my account When I returned to speak to the bar manager she was RUDE and more concerend with flirting than helping me clear up my billing issue I returned the following day still rude the owner had to get involved and she was unhelpful and a little rude It was finally resolved when they called in the general manager on his day off He quickly resolved my issue and was the only one to appologize He was great! Service avarage Manager HORRIBLE Food great but not worth being treated bad VERY DISAPOINTED WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO MAKING IT OUR NEW LOCAL HANG OUT NOW WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AND WILL TELL EVERONE OUR NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE!!!! To bad its a cool place with horrible service Pay cash stay clear of the BAR MANAGER Pros: great food GREAT GENERAL MANAGER Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE RUDE BAR MANAGER more

Incredibly FUN! 3/26/2007

After reading everyone else's review, I was shocked. I had a completely different experience. Although we sat waiting for a table (which was taken care of when we asked how much longer we'd have to wait) it was such a fun place to hang out. The California Roll was the freshest I have ever tasted and I had an A.M.F. Let me say that they are VERY GENEROUS with the amount of alcohol that they put in their drinks! I'm not sure if I caught everyone on a good night, but I had such a good time. The food was great, the atmosphere was fun and lively and the drinks were........FANTASTIC!!! I would DEFINITELY go back!!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Pros: GREAT SUSHI, GREAT DRINKS, GREAT WAITSTAFF!!! Cons: A slight wait for a table when it didnt look busy. more

Great Atmosphere 3/7/2007

The food is a little pricy, but this is defiantly a fun place to go out with friends. The bar is always busy on the weekends, but then again so are all the bars on Main Street. It?s atmosphere is also perfect for a romantic date so save up and give it a try! Cons: The meters in Hunington run till midnight so look for parking on a residential street more

Great Atmosphere if your single, Mediocre Food 3/4/2007

Hip atmosphere, good drinks. Hard to get a seat if Weekend in Summer. Sushi is not very good, and certainly not worth the price. If you want a place to get noticed, or people watch, this is the place in Huntington Beach - If you want good Sushi, go elsewhere. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Loud - hard to have conversation. Not very good sushi. more

tuna town is all about the atmosphere 7/5/2006

Tuna town is all about the atmosphere. It's owned by the drummer of Korn, who dines there occasionaly...so does Tito Ortiz. If you want to occasionally see celebs then you have a better chance at tuna town then many other sushi bars, but Its always full of drunk trendy downtown scene-sters that stop to eat/drink there while bar hopping downtown HB. If your looking for great sushi this isnt the place for you. Everytime I order sushi rolls there they fall apart, like they were made by amatures. The quality of the fish isnt bad, but it isnt good either...this is not a romantic place to take a date, this is the kinda place you go eat at before you drive to Ozzfest. Mostly young people eat here, some of their signature drinks include the "blue b*lls martini" etc. . The platinum records and posters of different bands on the wall remind you of the inside of a recording studio rather than a restaurant. I myself like the LOUD rock/hiphop music they blast, the decor, the attractive young crowd etc. I have yet to try their tepan yaki (sp?) Ive heard from several of my friends that the service is bad, but there are a few waiters that have been working there for several years that are pretty good. This isnt a place Id take my parents to. Pros: fun and trendy atmosphere for a sushi restaurant Cons: service and food are below average more

Meh 3/19/2006

This place has a trendy atmosphere filled with young, outgoing people. If you are simply a sushi enthusiast, just looking for good sushi eat, this isn't the place for you. The food is way overpriced and the service sucked. more

What service? 2/18/2006

My husband and I were very excited to try this trendy sushi restaurant. To our surprise, it was the worst service and value we've experienced. First, our $5 shrimp and calamari appetizer was literally only one piece of each inside a small plate. After this insult to our appetites, waiting a total of 45 minutes from being seated to get our sushi wasn't pleasing. A kind word to the manager only resulted in a response that this was a "normal" wait for a weekend crowd. We find this disappointing, being that the place was only at 1/4 capacity when we were seated. Needless to say, we won't return. Cons: poor service more

Good Food 12/15/2005

The food was really great, I ordered the halibut and it was fabulous. I also ordered some sushi sashimi and that was also fabulous! The cook at our grill was really cool and funny and wanted to make sure we had a great time! Unfortunately, the wait stuff wasn't very great...we received food that wasn't ours, we ordered an appetizer and actually didn't receive it until we were done with dinner...sad, then we didn't eat it cuz we were full. And it took forever to order a drink. I think it's time for the management to hire a new wait staff... Other than that, I thought it was a great, trendy place. Oh, if you like it quiet while you dine, do not go here, it's loud! I love it. Pros: sushi, wine, Teppan Yaki Grill Cons: wait staff more

Tasty food, bizarre service 8/24/2005

We ordered two appetizers and two entrees, none of them sushi. Of those four dishes, three arrived (late and simultaneously!) and they were yummy. I'd recommend the stuffed mushrooms to anyone. The cocktails were on the wimpy side, unfortunately we never had an opportunity to order more beverages and our water was never refilled. The waitress in general had no clue what she was doing. Food all arrived at the same time, plates were clumsily offloaded on the corner of the table, and despite asking 3 times what we ordered she forgot one dish. Throw in the lack of beverage service and you have a ruined meal. more

Editorial
  • In Short
Opened by Korn drummer David Silveria, the restaurant's claim of being a rock-and-roll sushi bar is accurate. The dark-red memorabilia-filled walls, low lighting, mud flap-worthy mermaid logo and booming hard-rock music create a nightclub feel. Choose a teppanyaki grill table, where meat, rice and veggies are chopped and stir-fried right before you by showy chefs. Or go the sushi route and sample unique rolls like tuna Juju Taki, which arrives engulfed in flames.
