Best

Thank you City Search for pointing me to TunaTown! You cant go wrong with their Sushi. The Young Blood, Crouching Tiger and the Salmon Amazing... My Girl Friend had the Kobe Burge...

Worst

This place is ok, nothing special. I recommend going on a slow night unless you enjoy waiting forever for the food to arrive. The food is good, it just takes way too long usually,...

Delicious! 12/2/2010

Thank you City Search for pointing me to TunaTown! You cant go wrong with their Sushi. The Young Blood, Crouching Tiger and the Salmon Amazing... My Girl Friend had the Kobe Burger and WOW, this place has an amazing burger too. We had just missed happy hour but we will be back for that. 35% off sushi and apps 4-7. How can you go wrong! They have Teppan Tables and it looked like the people were having a great time. This place has it all. I love my new City Search application for finding me a great new place to have sushi when I'm in HB. more

Main Street's Best Bet! 12/1/2010

Tuna Town is our FAVORITE place to go any night of the week on Main Street in HB! Excellent happy hour, even better sushi! Try the Youngblood....it's the BEST! And for non-sushi lovers...the teriyaki steak or chicken kabobs are soooo good! Carlos the bartender is also one of our favorite reasons to head out to Tuna Town! :) Even our kids love going when we sit at the Tepan table. Enjoy!! more

Yummy! 11/4/2010

A group of us dined here on Wednesday night. Lets just say AMAZING! Sushi was DELICIOUS. We had their signature roll the Crouching Tiger and the waitress suggested we try the bad hair day roll. WOW, it was good. She said its not on the menu. So make sure you ask for it. This place is big, great for large parties. They also have Teppan Tables. We are reserving one those for next time we come and hopefully it will be soon because I need another Crouching Tiger. Oh, before I forget. their Happy Hour 35% off Sushi and Appetizers, $1 Sake is a great Deal too. more

Terrible sushi 4/2/2010

I love sushi and the sushi at Tuna Town was terrible!!! The yellowtail was stringy and you couldn't even bite into it with out almost choking on it! Bad quality! The service is terrible too. Many items never get to you, and then the miso soup comes at the end??? Also, check your bill, because you may have stuff you didn't order on it! Go to Sushi on Fire down the street! Way better!!!! Pros: Jellyfish tank Cons: Food, staff, managers, wait time more

Perfect Spot 3/8/2010

I've been here a few times while in town and wow. Great everything! Every roll I have ever tried there has never let me down, and pair it with a nice chilled glass of TY KU sake and your set. Once I was there and it was pretty packed but there are so many shops and you can even walk on the beach while you wait. Give it a try Pros: Amazing Location, Service and Food Cons: Sometimes a wait more

Amazing Happy Hour prices 1/4/2010

The food here is amazing. The decor and service is out of this world. Some people say that Sushi on Fire down the street is better, but I would have to disagree. Their Happy Hour prices are what my wife and I go there for. From 5-7pm, all of their food items are 35% off! Itis definately the best deal around...especially for sushi! Pros: Great sushi & atmosphere Cons: Can be a little loud sometimes more

Not the worst, and not the Best 8/27/2009

I've eaten at this place twice. The first time was at the sushi bar. The service was good, but it wasn't busy at the time. The sushi was just ok, and its overpriced for what you get. The second time I was at a table. The service was the slowest I've ever had. We waited 15 to 20 minutes to be greated at the table, and it wasn't even busy. Never saw the server after she took our order. I love sushi and I will not be going back to this place. The price is just too much for what you get. Pros: atmosphere Cons: quality for the price more

Sushi like a Rockstar 4/2/2009

Do NOT miss this place next time you're in Huntington Beach. If you know what I mean when I say ADIDAS, Evolution, and/or Korn, you need to check out Tuna Town on Main. If not, try it anyway because it's my new hangout and i'll be coming here often. I love the small, non-chain sushi joints that have Teppan Tables!! Super dark, great sushi and presentation, and the sushi chefs had a great personality. The service was so good that I don't even remember what our server looked like! My food & drinks just appeared and the server would scoot away and left us to socialize! We sat at a table but next time, i'm going to sit in one of their dark loungy circular booths for more privacy! I will have to update my review once i try more of their food, but my friends said it was delish. Practically 10 steps from the beach...gotta love it! more

Decent place 11/4/2008

I read the reviews on here before I went and expected a nightmare. Went on a Sunday right after Tuna Town opened at 5:00pm. The place was pretty much empty. Sure the music was loud but I could still talk and hear from my companion. The food was okay and it didn't take forever for beer and food to come. But it wasn't packed either. I asked if the owner David ever comes in and it seems he does but its rare. I wanted to eat at his other place Silvera Steakhouse because sushi isn't really my thing, to my surprise the steak house wasn't open for business when it was supposed to. So Tuna town does have a great atmosphere and vibe, food is expensive its in a trendy area. David get your behind back in Korn you quit to run these 2 places and from the looks of it, the steak house out of business and these reviews(besides the obvious planeted stories you wrote yourself with glowing reviews) since you quit Korn show on average Tuna Town is run like krap on a busy night, so just let it continue to be run like terribly and get back to drumming Here To Stay. Pros: Famous guy owns it, unique setting Cons: expensive more

I'll NEVER Go Back 8/14/2008

was told by a friend that the sushi was great, but the service completely sucked...tried it out with 3 other ppl tonight...a terrible experience!!!!!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! EVEN WORSE MANAGER!!!!!! i have worked in this industry for over 10 yrs in south beach as well as NYC...and have never experienced such idiocracy in a restaurant in my life...it's too bad though b/c the sushi was good, not great, but still good....noone in my party will EVER go back! This ruined our nights :( Pros: good sushi Cons: everything else more

The best Huntington Beach has to offer TUNA TOWN!!!!!!!!! 7/7/2008

We have eaten in most of the restaurants in Huntington Beach. Tuna Town is by far and away the best restaurant in Huntington. I will go as far as to say probably the best Sushi I have eaten in OC. Love the servers, the bartenders and the cooks. Always consistent, clean and fun. Yes, it is loud but that is because it is filled with such a fun crowd. If you want excellant food and love to people watch this is your place. Also something amazing, the kids steak dinner is as good as it gets. I love the fact that they put as much emphasis on the kids meal as they do the grown-ups. The short ribs melt in your mouth, the steak is so tender you do not need a knife and the rolls are perfect. Another plus is the restaurant is clean, clean. The owner takes pride in her restaurant and it shows. Thanks for a great spot so close to home!!!!!! I'd even make the drive if I lived a distance away. If it was not Monday I would be there tonight. more

GREAT ALL AROUND, I LOVE THIS PLACE 5/2/2008

I GO INTO TUNA TOWN ALL THE TIME AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE. IN FACT THE SERVICE IS GREAT, ALL THE WAITRESSES ARE SUPER FRIENDLY AND REALLY TAKE THE TIME TO GET TO KNOW ME AND MY FAMILY WHEN WE COME IN. THE FOOD IS GREAT BUT SOMETIMES WILL TAKE A LITTLE LONGER THAN OTHERS. BUT ANY ONE THAT KNOWS GOOD SUSHI SHOULD KNOW THAT IT IS NEVER GOOD WHEN RUSHED, UNLESS YOUR THE TYPE OF PERSON USED TO SUSHI TAKE OUT. OVERALL GREAT PLACE, FOOD, ATMOSPHERE, AND SERVICE. RECOMMEND IT TO ALL!!! Pros: FOOD, MUSIC, AND FRIENDLY SERVICE Cons: SOMETIMES IT GETS REALLY CROWDED more

Superb food served by psychos 4/9/2008

In spite of the psychotic servers, all the food here is amazing. Michael the sushi chef is superb. I have returned time and again for the delicious food and the comedy provided by servers who obviously imagine themselves above the work for which they expect to be tipped. It is best to order everything that you might desire immediately, because you will become invisible to your server throughout most of your visit there. I would suggest that they seek medication, except that I suspect they are self-medicated already. They cannot be completely benighted ,however, as evidenced by the fact that they slip a 20% tip into the bill, without allowing the decision to tip or the amount of the tip depend upon the obviously disregarded feelings of those they serve. more

hmm? 2/22/2008

This place is ok, nothing special. I recommend going on a slow night unless you enjoy waiting forever for the food to arrive. The food is good, it just takes way too long usually, and the service is somewhat lacking. Worth checking out though. One thing i do find interesting- all the positive reviews of Tuna Town say the exact same thing, w/ the same word phrasing. Cmon its pretty obvious whats going on, and I for one am not buying into these fake reviews. more

Yummy! 1/30/2008

I love Tuna Town and have since it opened! The sushi is awesome and I love the creations that they chefs come up with. It is such a GREAT atmosphere and an overall fun place to hang out, which we do at least once a week. I just had my birthday party there and I must say that even though it was a busy night, the service was FANTASTIC (Thanks John). I definitely recommend Tuna Town as the best sushi in HB :) more

TUNA TOWN ROCKS!!!!! 1/27/2008

Thank you Tuna Town!!! I recently had my birthday party there and everything was amazing, we had so much fun!!!. Best sushi, service, and atmosphere in HB... keep it up!!! Pros: Amazing food and sushi, great music and atmosphere! Cons: None! more

Horrible service & rude management 1/21/2008

Our party of 5 sat down and waited 10 min to place our drink orders. It took 2hrs for all of our food to be served! I had to request my water be refilled 3 separate x. We flagged a bus boy to request a beer, as our waitress was sitting at the table behind us flirting with 3 men for 15 min (we timed her). The bus boy had to tap her on the shoulder to order another round of drinks for us. Our food slowly came out over the course of 2 hrs. Not one person at our table received their food at the same time; we had to eat separately as the evening progressed. After an hour and a half we stopped the waitress who was now conversing with bar guests and informed her that we had not received our salmon sushi or crunchy roll and she said she would check on our food however she thought they were out of the salmon requested. It would have been nice if she had told us! 15 min later the missing food items were served. We spoke to the manger who is a previous food server at the restaurant to complain and he said that he highly doubted that we had been seated for 2 hs and laughed at us! He then went on to excuse the waitress?s actions by saying that she had been visiting with friends she had not seen in a long time? as if we cared or that as guests we should be expected to wait for her to decide to help us! To top everything off the waitress tried to add a 20% tip to our bill. 3 members of my party waited tables for 8 yrs we could not imagine ever providing such horrible service and still expecting any tip at all much less adding 20% to the bill. Needless to say we did not leave any gratuity and the manager had the nerve to chase us outside and ask us if we felt bad stiffing our waitress on a $200 plus bill. We had to point out that tip means to insure prompt service and we received no service. Over the last 3 years the service at Tuna Town has been going down hill and the owner and management either do not care or have not noticed that there customers are disappointed. Pros: Good Music Cons: Can not speak to people at your table because the music is too loud more

What happend to the Management? 9/7/2007

I haven't been to Tuna Town for over 2 years as I was deployed to Iraq, I come home for some good sushi and I waited 45 MINUTES longer than my quoted time which was 20 minutes just to sit down. That right there is poor management. You have to understand the flow of your operation. Imagine if I was told I would be only be deployed for 18 months and I end up staying there 2.5 years, oh wait that did happen to me. Ok Ok so now I am at the table. There are 4 of us, greeted swiftly, the waitress said she'd be right back. UM like 10 minutes later as she shielded her face numerous times as she walked by us so we couldn't grab he attention she arrived with 2 waters, and told us our food would be here soon. I almost Laughed out loud as I told her we haven't even ordered our drinks yet. It was easy 4 tall Asahi's. She came back with 4 tall Sapporo's.At that point, I knew we needed all our food ready to be ordered by the time she got back, we have all been there and knew we needed it to be done. So we ordered, and asked if she could wait on the entree's until all sushi has been taken out to our table. Of course if a simple 4 tall Asahi's can turn into 4 tall Sapporro's I can only imagine what could come next. I am not joking, but our entree's came out first, BEFORE THE SUSHI!!!!!! I asked the pretty lil thing, "Sweetheart, didn't I specifically ask you to deliver the entree's after all sushi was brought to the table. All she could say was, "well I told the expo not to bring out the entree's out till the sushi was brought out, so its not my fault" I was Jaw dropping flabbergasted. That right there is poor management. So now the Manager comes to the table, some 40 year old chick with the darkest circles under her eyes and matching crows feet, comes over and explains to me that I am to impatient and to relax, "your food will come" and she gave us a free Ju Ju yaki Yea that helps give me a sushi roll covered in mayonnaise to cheer me up from dropping $300 I will never go again Pros: Trendy Spot, owned by Korn's Drugger Dave Silveria Cons: Poor Management, Horrible wait time on food, and I saw a rattrap more

A good place if only it was run well 8/25/2007

We have done the tepenyaki twice. The cook was great and personable but that was where the service began and ended. Both times we were set and reserved for a seeting, the first time they sat us an hour late and provided horrible service. Stupid us decided to give them a second shot, this time only a half hour late and service was twice as bad. Rarely saw out waitress, the non grill food was not delivered until the dinner and show was over. We called over the General manager to complain, but she just does not get it. She is clearly not capable of handeling a restaurant like this, instead of hiring friends a restaurant manager is probably the way to go. Wont do dinner again, at least while she is managing, which is sad because I love Tepenyaki and the place is walking distance to my house. Pros: Tepenyaki Cons: Poorly Managed more

unique sushi, amazing wine, cool jellyfish tank! 8/22/2007

I love this place! They have some of the most interesting and unusual sushi combinations I've ever had. I feel that it is much more creative than traditional sushi. I also had a really amazing glass of red wine. The music is too loud, but the food is such a sensual experience that I can overlook it. The jellyfish tank is trippy. It is like a live lava lamp or something. Pros: Yummy Cons: Too loud more

Editorial
  • In Short
Opened by Korn drummer David Silveria, the restaurant's claim of being a rock-and-roll sushi bar is accurate. The dark-red memorabilia-filled walls, low lighting, mud flap-worthy mermaid logo and booming hard-rock music create a nightclub feel. Choose a teppanyaki grill table, where meat, rice and veggies are chopped and stir-fried right before you by showy chefs. Or go the sushi route and sample unique rolls like tuna Juju Taki, which arrives engulfed in flames.
