Tucker - Close but not quite! 9/16/2007

A friend and I dined at Tucker recently. We were excited by the information read on this site however, disappointed after the experience. The ambience was lovely with the wood paneling - an old historic feeling surrounded you. But, it seemed very odd that more than half of the tables were vacant at 8pm on a Saturday night. It made for a strange sort of hush across the place. The service was excellent but since our waiter only had 2 other tables to attend to, it wasn't surprising. The menu was quite limited and somewhat pricey. We ordered a wonderful appetizier made with tuna and avocados. The lobster bisque was extremely fishy tasting though. So much so that we could not eat more than the first bite. The entrees were unpredictible as well. The salmon was delicious but the short ribs were fatty and greasy. We both loved the desserts. I had the lava cake and he had tiramisu - both were quite good. Overall, I would not recommend Tucker to anyone. It misses the mark for a romantic evening out. Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, lots of wood, very historic feeling Cons: Limited menu, few customers, food only average more

Perfect night out 6/21/2005

My fiance and I were trying to find a place to eat; when we stumbled upon one of Dallas best kept secrets. My finance started with the spinach and goat cheese strudel and I had the blackened shrimp, both were pleasing and flavorful but not so filling as to ruin what was yet to come. For the main course my fiance had their signature dish the Sea Bass; it was perfectly prepared and the lime ginger sauce was delicious. I chose the Australian Lamb on cous cous. Interesting to say the least, this dish is something I would have never tried but I will order time and time again. To finish we split the Valhrona Torte that was moist and delicious. Before leaving we ventured onto the covered patio for an after dinner drink. It was a great ending to an extraordinary dining experience. Pros: complimentary valet, great patio, excellent wine list more

A Seemingly Undiscovered Gem 4/26/2005

My boyfriend and I decided to try out Tuckers last Friday night after finding it so highly reviewed on Citysearch, and we were not disappointed. We made reservations, only to arrive at 7:30 to an almost completely empty restaurant, which was somewhat startling. We inquired about the emptiness and were told that it was some sort of ""fluke"" - that it's usually more busy. The atmosphere is great, with big fireplaces both inside and on the large patio. The service was very attentive, and though the menu is somewhat limited, the food was delicioius. The wine list was also good, with a great deal of Australian selection. Only comment I would make is that the price listing on citysearch is somewhat misleading. Entrees ranged from $20-30, salads and appetizers around $8-10. Still great food, but I would say more of a $$$ restaurant. Pros: Ambiance, Menu, Wine List Cons: Valet Parking only more
