Almost perfect 3/25/2011

Perfection is impossible but the Troubadour comes damn close. There is no doubt that the owner, Jake, is an expert. Ask him anything about anything-- anything!-- and he'll talk your ear off. He's friendly, generous, and kind to a fault. The repairs conducted by Jake and his hip young associate are solid and professional. I've brought nearly every guitar I own through that door and I've never left unsatisfied. The young folks behind the desk, while less knowledgeable than Jake, are still incredibly helpful and polite. The place gets packed though, so if you really want one-on-one time you better get in before lessons start! Overall, my experience at the Troubadour-- with Jake, his staff, and even the brief interactions I've had with the teachers-- has been nothing but positive. I can't recommend this shop more! more

Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. 1/18/2011

I took a flute in to be re-padded and was told it would take two weeks. It didn't. No one ever called to let me know it would take longer than this or to notify me of the status of my repair, even though I was told at the end of several phone calls that someone would get back to me and let me know what was going on. Three months later, after countless phone conversations and mounting frustration, I finally considered contacting an attorney to recover my property. Miraculously, the flute was then ready to pick up less than a week later. When I brought it home, I discovered that one of the keys was sticking and that the flute is still, after three months and $200 in repairs, unplayable. They offered me six months of free adjustments, but for obvious reasons I won't be taking it back to them, which means I'll have to pay someone else to finish the work they started. One of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. more

The Best Music Store Around! 8/11/2010

I would completely disregard any negative comments concerning Troubadour. Jake is a great guy who spends a lot of time taking care of his customers. I bought a beautiful cello from him for a wonderful price, and he replaced the strings and did all the repairs. He is extremely knowledgeable about an array of instruments and answered all my questions. Everyone is friendly and knows their stuff! I see plenty of students in and out treated with the utmost care and respect, so I have a hard time believing otherwise. A friend of mine is a regular and has Jake and everyone attend to his guitars regularly, and has been doing so for years. All in all Troubadour has to be my favorite music store in PA. Keep it up Jake! more

Troubadour Music an excellent music store 5/30/2010

I have been taking guitar lessons at Troubadour Music for the past two years. The staff has been unfailingly polite and helpful. The owner of the store, Jake, is extremely friendly and welcoming. He helps make the store more congenial and customer friendly than any music store I?ve been in. The store sells good quality musical instruments and other musical supplies at honest prices. There is a strong feel of integrity to the whole establishment. Troubador also offers music lessons in various instruments. The steady stream of students of all ages gives the store a pleasant feeling of musical purpose. The teachers seem to be friendly and dedicated. My own teacher, Bill Schulz, is superb, giving generously of his knowledge and talent, particularly in the area of jazz guitar. I am very happy with my experience there. Pros: Excellent, friendly store, superb music lessons Cons: None, zero, nada more

Honestly THE best musical instrument store anywhere 4/23/2010

I can't really say enough good things about Troubadour, except that it's hands-down the best store for acoustic guitars, service and anything else musical on the Main Line- and my favorite music store of all time, and I've been to a lot! It also is a big proponent of getting lessons to young kids in the area, and is in a way, a hub of activity, almost a social spot for them. This is great, and I think that 'rockstarsdad' obviously is not to be taken seriously; he writes that his young family and son are 'still in shock' about going into the store. This seems a strange reaction, don't you think? This family needs a psychologist, not a music store. Troubadour sells top quality acoustics, and all of mine have been bought from there, as well as amps, etc; I would not buy anything from any other dealer if I can help it. Jake, the owner, is really a good guy, very kind, and the staff are great too- very mild and nice. So, as you can tell this store rocks! Six stars out of five! Pros: Owner Jake is the most considerate/instruments are top notch more

Honesty and Integrity regarding Guitar sales and repair 1/6/2008

I have patronized Troubadour Music for over 20 years, and find the staff there to be very professional and knowledgeable regarding the sale and repair of musical instruments (guitars especially). Jake (owner) and his staff have repeatedly counseled myself and my family in a straightforward way regarding keeping my guitars in top shape, and also have recommended some very good guitars to purchase. Pros: Deep knowledge, Fairness and Integrity Cons: Small Staff, so sometimes you have to wait a bit more

Avoid if you are a family with children 10/27/2007

This is one of the worst music stores for children and families that I have ever been in. They have the least knowledgable staff and they are simply not child or family friendly. Nor do they care to be. We had scheduled a lesson for our son at the Troubadour Music Shop with one of their instructors TJ. They were so rude, disorganized and incensitive to my Son that we are still in shock. We have taken my son to numerous ""real"" guitar stores where he receives respect and genuine encouragement from the staff. It was a complete 360 at Troubadour from the second our young family walked into their store TJ and the other employees made us feel completely uncomfortable and unwanted. .We regularly shop at Genes and the Duck Toy Store and I can firmly say that Troubadour and its staff especially TJ simply do not fit the family friendly and artistic spirit that we love about Wayne..I would not recommend anyone with a child who is interested in music to visit the Troubadour Music Shop in Wayne, PA or sign-up for a lesson there. As parents we look to the instructors and staff of these stores as individuals who will encourage and positively influence the lives of our children. We trust them and the way that we were treated at the Troubadour Music Shop in Wayne illustrated to us just how careful we need to be with your trust. Avoid the store avoid the lessons! Do what is best for your child! Pros: Horrible uniformed and untalented staff with no regard for children Cons: Inexperience in music instruction in a music oriented town more
