The place is a riot... back to the 1970's. You can't even call it retro, because it's original! The steaks are great and the waitresses are hilarious.. more

Every time I visit Florida, about every other year for the past twenty years, I always visit “Tropical Acres” for my favourite dish, PRIME RIB. In looking through other reports on this fine restaurant, I have not seen a single entry about their Prime Rib, which has to be the best in the world. I remember one occasion when I was actually able to cut the meat with my fork.\r \r This being said people I have dined with, have never had a bad meal or complaint. It is truly an amazing family restaurant, and lives continually up to its reputation for fine dining.\r \r They have an excellent web site which covers all else you might need to know about the restaurant more

Tropical Acres has been around a long time while most places have come and gone. The food is always excellent and prepared to your liking. The owners and staff cannot be more gracious.\r I don't look for a special occasion to dine there, just when I want a great meal and outstanding service. Ginette and Tina are always there to assist with your meal and service. The special cut filet is my favorite steak and is always prepared as ordered. My thanks to the entire staff for maintaining such a fine dining establishment. I have enjoyed the food and service for over 24 years. more

This is one of those old style traditional Floridian steak restaurants. Great food and excellent service. I've eaten here several times and never been disappointed. Steaks are top notch quality and grilled to your exact order. I really find it hard to fault anything, maybe the decor is dated but that's just part of the old style that makes it so good. If there is anything you need don't be shy just ask for it. Loads of parking space available, can wait in the bar if you didn't make a booking.\r Well worth a visit. more

We had a wedding rehearsal party . About 56 friends and family. Everyone was pleasantly surprised how well everything went. The staff was very professional and efficient.\r The food was outstanding. We had prime rib, chicken, and fish. Everyone raved about their meal of choice. Salad, dessert and coffee where all incusive. ""Great cheese cake"".\r This restaurant is "" awesome"". And the price is well within reason.\r Our next party will surely be at ""The Tropical Acres"". more

Tropical Acres is a Fort Lauderdale Landmark. They had a fire last year and re-opened. Sometimes things change when this happens. Well, the physical restaurant is new (which is a good thing) but the food, the hospitality and the welcoming feeling is back! Love this place. more

We've had dinner twice already since Tropical Acres ""re-opened"" and the food has always been Excelente! My husband always has the prime rib and I the filet mignon. Service has always been great! I would specially like to mention this past dinner when we were served by Janet and Mary! Kind, Sweet and lovely to deal with! I commend them! Janet even gave me complimentary offer card for our next visit. Totally unexpected! more

I have found Tropical Acres an enjoyable place, primarily because as a Corporate traveler, it is comfortable and friendly to eat in the bar. Tom, takes a personal approach, getting to know his customers, ensuring they feel welcome. As a result, I enjoy frequenting the restaurant. The food is prepared to my liking, and the service and the atmosphere is welcoming. Hats off to Tom for ensuring his customers are satisfied! more

Stellar service from bartenders Sharon and Tom. Enjoyed good house wine and great appetizers. The fried mozzarella was from fresh (not frozen sticks) and a perfect house-made marinara. The escargot, buttery, and flavorful. We have enjoyed some special occasions there, and always look forward to a visit. Great place for a party, meeting or family dinner. more

What's not to love? The personality of Tropical Acres transcends time and trends. This staple of great dining on Griffin Rd. has been around since 1949!! That should say it all. We have been dining at Tropical Acres for around 8 years now. Whenever we want to spend quality time with friends or family we know that Tropical Acres always satisfies.\r If you are looking for a high brow place to dine with a fancy menu go elsewhere. If you want great food, great service and old time charm of Florida dining then this is your dining destination. The Steaks are out of this world. I get the Special Cut Filet a 10 oz juicy and tender and cooked just right. Melts in your mouth. Get this with hash browns and a salad. You won’t beat the price either. Don't miss the onion bread. They try to keep these limited but make sure to ask for some if they don’t give you enough in the basket. They are great. Desert will not disappoint, my favorite is the carrot cake. Before you dine take few minutes to grab a big drink in the bar. You will feel like you have gone back to the 50's. Can't wait to go back. more

Tropical Acres has been one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to Fort Lauderdale. My first visit there was for an event. The place was packed, and the food and service were excellent. I've since gone back at least 3 or 4 times a year to satisfy my need for its old Fort Lauderdale look and style. Food and drinks are always great. Service is exceptional. I've never been there when an owner has not been on site. Always friendly. Great steaks. Great everything they serve. And the prices are reasonable. more

My first visit to Tropical Acres was a Valentine's Day Celebration many years ago. I've celebrated many special events dining at TA and always had a consistently excellent experience.\r \r But don't wait for a special occasion to visit Tropical Acres. Their Happy Hour is a great value and you get some VIP treatment from both Tom & Sharon behind the bar. It's a great venue to catch up with the girls or a nice break from the week with your honey. So enjoy some great company and some $5 apps for no reason at all! more

This has been a destination restaurant for nearly 60 years. Snow birds and locals enjoy the best steaks and seafood in South Florida at very reasonable prices. The decor is like stepping back in time when you would get dressed up for dinner out. The fact that it has lasted this long says it all. more

If your looking for a nice old fashioned Steak house this place is very cozy and delicious. I started with the escargot that melts in your mouth like butter. Nicely done! We had the house sald with homemade dressing. My boyfriend and I split a med rare porterhouse that was perfectly cooked. They have a beautiful dessert tray. We had the creme brulee yum! The servers were very pleasant and hospitable. That you for a nice night out Tropical Acres. We will be back! more

We were happily anticipating the reopening of the restaurant a few months ago. Our first visit found the restaurant to be a bit 60ish in style. Putting that aside we looked forward to a wonderful meal. Unfortunately we were seated near a piano. In a few minutes a much older piano player started playing very old- fashioned music. I am 65 years old do I like older music, but this was 40's music and much too loud. We were not able to have a conversation. We were disturbed because there were no other tables available. The place was packed. We figured that was a good sign for a good tasting meal. We were wrong! The steaks and seafood were terrible. The meat was not of good quality and full of fat, yuk. The scallops were way overlooked and dry. We were so disappointed because we had just moved to Mapleridge and looked forward to a good, nearby place to eat. We all then thought that it was just an off night for the place. So we went back again on another week night hoping to have a better experience. That did not happen. Stay away from this place or you will be sorry for wasting your money. more
