Excellent Happy Hour 12/12/2011

Some friends took me here for the 1st time for my 40th B-day. Their appetizers are incredible!! Their Steak Fries are incredible with the rosemary, truffle aioli, & garlic. Another fav was the Truffle Mac & Cheese - OH MY!!. Excellent atmosphere set in the beautiful Four Season's Hotel. I have been a couple more times and always enjoy. I look forward to dinner with my hubby. more

Great Service-Fabulous Food! 6/27/2011

I took a close friend here for her 30th b-day. The staff went above and beyond for us. The food was delicious, we both had salads-- and I ordered a b-day dessert for my friend- and they hit a home run! It came out with a sparkler and her name written in choclate across the plate. The dessert was very tasty and light, just like I'd ask for. Thank you TRIO! more

exceptional steak house 9/6/2010

having moved from the east coast a year ago, austin kind of bums me out with it's lack of fine dining. a steak house or one amazing sushi place are kind of your only options on the high end. however, the things atx does well, it does so well. this place is one of them. the manager, paul, is doing a fantastic job, and the restaurant reflects that. the recession inspired half price happy hour on wines and apps= greatest find ever. wine list is accessible and impressive. food is simple and pleasingly prepared and presented- for a steak house. atmosphere is one of the best in the city- outdoors on a cooler night is ideal. more

Excellent Service - Wonderful View 4/2/2010

Being my first time there I was happy to see how cool it was downstairs. Very modern and sleek. The bartender was quick and gracious and the happy hour specials were good. I plan on going back when the weather is a bit nicer. Oh - THEY VALIDATE PARKING! You really dont want to leave your car on Ceasar Chavex after 3PM more

Very happening happy hour! 4/1/2010

Checked out Trio's happy hour about a month ago and it was quite the hot spot. We went to the bar area downstairs and ended up moving to the main lobby/lounge area because all of the tables were full. I want to go back when it's warmer and sit on the outside patio overlooking Town Lake. It's nice to have another waterfront happy hour spot besides Hula Hut! We ordered a round of drinks and some appetizers and stayed for several hours. I often forget about Trio because it's tucked into the Four Seasons but I will definitely come back this summer! Also, in case you are wondering they validate parking so that will save you some $$$. more

Happy Hour 4/1/2010

I met some co-workers at Trio for Happy Hour a couple weeks ago. There were about 8 of us. The location is beautiful the drinks and appetizers were delicious. They have good happy hour prices on the appetizers and on wine, but unfortunately I don't drink wine so I had to pay full price for my mixed drink. The cheese plate was yummy and the wedge fries were delicious! Unfortunately, there wasn't room for all of us at the bar and there was only one person staffing the bar so we decided to take our party upstairs. The waitresses up there were very accommodating and make room for us there. Good times! Pros: Beautiful location Cons: not enough room more

Trio Pre-Theater Meal 3/28/2010

We tried Trio for the first time , it was a pre-fixe theater menu, party of six. We got there right before 6pm, thought we had plenty of time. While the food was great, the service was very slow, took forever to get drinks and appetizers, the entrees wer served 1 hour and 15 minutes into the meal. We had to skip dessert in order to get to Bass Hall, unfortunately late and missed the 1st 10 minutes. Now on the good side, we were able to come back and enjoy dessert after the play, enjoyed another mojotini, which I highly recommend. So overall, recommend the food, the outside seating is great but come prepared for at least 2 hours experience. Pros: Mojotini and the outdoors seating Cons: Sloooow Service more

A perfect December evening! 12/29/2009

Now I know I can get set in my ways when I look at menu options, but when Chef Todd Duplechan approached our table to discuss the menu I let him take control. Both my friend and I stepped out of our comfort zone and never looked back. We started our journey with the Crispy Pork Belly and Beef Carpaccio. The Carpaccio was a pleasant surprise as it is a bit thicker than most carpaccio's, but it melted in my mouth nonetheless. The roasted beet salad was a perfect blend of tastes as the blue cheese did not overpower the light vinaigrette on the beets. Once the entrees arrived we knew Todd had steered us in the right direction. Perfection on both the Ribeye Tenderloin and the Dover Sole. Since it was a chilly December evening we thought it was only fitting that we end with the warm gingerbread cake. After practically fighting over the last bite we did not want the meal to come to an end. However, as all good things do, we had to make our way back home and look forward to our next visit to TRIO. Thanks for a great holiday evening TRIO team and thanks Todd for your culinary guidance!! more

Great Steakhouse 12/18/2009

My husband and I love going out for happy hour and a good wine. We were thrilled when we moved here this year and discovered the best happy hour in town. Trio is fantastic, the room is beautiful and hip, the crowd was great, not to mention the food and wine which absolutely delicious. They have an extensive wine selection, and Mark the Sommelier new exactly what to pair with our delicious meal. My favorite appetizer is the Ceviche and my husband’s is the Pork Belly, we can’t get enough of it! so this weekend we will be back for more. My compliments to Todd the Executive Chef, as well as the entire staff, everyone was extremely professional and kind. Thank you for the wonderful experience!!! Pros: Best Happy hour in town more

On Top of Their Game 12/14/2009

Austin is steadily trending upward as a location for great eating experiences, and TRIO is at the top of the surge. After several stellar happy hour visits, we finally managed to clear an evening for the full dinner version. The service struck the perfect mix of class, attentiveness and Texan friendliness. Sommelier Mark Sayre has already been mentioned in other reviews, and for good reason - his wine knowledge and selections are second to none in this city; and he carries his wisdom with childlike enthusiasm. The ""3 for $39"" menu was a wonderful and affordable way to get acquainted with various aspects of Chef Todd's creations. Every plate over-delivered - but special shout-outs go to the butternut squash salad, porkbelly app, the mac and cheese, the herb-roasted cod and the Niman Ranch tenderloin. And my wife, who has an aversion to creme brulee, ate more than her share of their dark chocolate rendition. We will be back as soon as possible - and hopefully the weather will allow us to enjoy the beautiful outdoor patio next time. Don't let the guests of the Four Seasons keep this place to themselves -- TRIO should be on every Austinite's short list of places to frequent for meaningful meals. Pros: fabulous food, wine and service Cons: now I crave those buttery, cheese-encrusted dinner rolls! more

Love the Patio! 12/10/2009

We really enjoyed sitting on the patio for this business lunch with colleagues. Trio has a terrific assortment of salads with lots of ingrediants - but other intersting lunch options are scallops or lobster grilled cheese! The ice is made from whatever drink you requested - ice tea cubes, which is a nice touch to the table. I will return soon - next time for dinner in the lovely dining room Pros: Wonderful Service - NIce View of Lady Bird Lake more
