Tri-D Fitness TRX! 2/26/2009

I am a huge fan of TRX! TRX has you using your own body weight to help you build strength, balance and flexibility. I have been taking the class once a week now for the past several months and have noticed an amazing improvement in my overall core strength and fitness. I love Casey, our trainer! He takes the class with us, he is very encouraging and even though his fitness level is much higher than mine, I feel Casey respects each of us at the level we are at, and he motivates me to want to reach higher! I highly recommend this class! Pros: Positive, encouraging training staff! Smaller class size. more

Fantastic Workout! 2/26/2009

The first time I went to try TRX I did not know what to expect. Within the first 10 minutes it was the most intense full-body workout I had ever done! The next day I felt muscles I had not felt in a long time and knew this was just what I needed to push myself to the next level. The TRX class works everything - your core, upper and lower body, coordination etc. I have seen improvements in myself which have been great. When I do my weekend run up Weir Road now it is much easier! The trainer Casey is great! He does the entire workout with us and motivates everyone no matter what level you are on...beginner or experienced....he makes everyone feel comfortable and we all have fun! The class is always challenging but at the same time fun. Would like to do it more than once a week! Pros: Great trainers; good class size Cons: Hard work but worth it! more

TRX at TRI-D Fitness, The Best Work Out Ever! 2/26/2009

TRX straps have you hanging from straps using your own weight to get a full body work out. It was new and I'd never tried it before. I decided to try it once and now am hooked. TRX training works on balance, coordination, core strength, lean body mass, while giving you a good full body workout in the hour long sessions. I've seen noticeable improvements in myself and my fellow TRX training buddies. I look forward to the once a week sessions at Tri-D Fitness. Our trainer Casey is Great! He doesn't just tell us what to do-he does the whole class with us. The class is challenging, sometimes even tough, but worth it as it is the best work out class I've ever participated in. Pros: Trainer, location, lots of sweat, smaller class sizes. Cons: I only have time for once a week right now. more

Best Trainers in Portland! 12/23/2008

I've been seeing Eric for the last few months, and I couldn't be happier. It is a real pain to go through, but the breakthroughs are amazing. I have lost over 20 pounds, and where I was flabby, I can now see toned muscle. \r \r Eric is honest, and will work you hard, but the improvements in mind and body will make it more than worthwhile. Pros: Great communicatoin, and motivating factor Cons: It doesn't come easy. more

They know their stuff! 7/11/2008

When I reached my sixties, I realized that I wasn't going to reach my seventies unless I became fit. I had been stumbling and falling just walking down the street. I read a little tiny article in the Oregonian about ""boutique"" fitness clubs in Portland and by corresponding with the writer of the article, found out about Tri-D. I was pretty scared to call because I thought ""I'm old. They won't be able to do much with me...."".I finally got up the nerve to call and talked to Curt. He didn't high pressure me, he said there were lots of people just like me in their fitness training programs, and that I should at least come and see what it was like. It's the best thing I ever did in my life. My trainer Belinda is awesome - when you're in a 1 on 1 hour long fitness program 3 times a week, which I was for a few months, your trainer is very important, and I watched what went on with other trainers and how they worked with their clients, and I would have gone to any one of them with no problem, but I have Belinda and she is terrific. She makes sure that every little move I make is done correctly so that the training is of maximum value and safe for me. I now have muscles that I didn't even know existed, and I'm much stronger and sure of myself on my feet, TriD solves other issues too - I have on and off some back pain due to congenital spinal problems, and Michael has had me as a client for several different sessions over time and he works with various muscle groups that are affected by the back and neck problems; his knowledge of the human body and how it works is awesome. The prices of the individual sessions are spendy, but if you want to be in good shape physically in your older age - this is the place for you. I can sum up by saying that everything i've seen happen at TriD is awesome and I would have never believed it unless it had happened to me. more

Best trainer ever! 6/6/2008

I have been training with Eric for eight months and I love it! I had my daughter a year ago and went to Eric with the goals of weight loss, improved fitness and endurance. I've lost 6% body fat in the last four months and I'm getting ready to run a marathon. Eric has expertly tailored our workout sessions to meet my needs and to be continuously challenging. Eric's great but make sure you know your music trivia because he'll quiz you :) Pros: Small private gym, knowledgeable staff more

Best Trainer I have ever had... 6/2/2008

Working out is my one hour of the day. My children get the other 23. So, making the most of my work out is very important to me. I have never met anyone as dedicated to fitness as my trainer. He has helped me reach my goals after I had my son four years ago and now again after the birth of my daughter (5 months ago). I look forward to our scheduled times where I know I will get an awesome work out. I have worked with a handful of trainers over the last ten years and I am happy to have found Casey Mitzel. We have a relationship where I know he wants to see me do well and achieve my goals and I don't want to let him down because I respect him and I feel like you have to have that with your trainer. \r I have yet to do a show (Fitness competition) but I know that I will some day. I can't wait until I do because I know that I will have Casey there cheering me on. As far as I am concerned he is the best trainer out there.\r Krystal Pros: Small gym, warm and cozy! Cons: not a lot of cardio choices more

Want the best?? Ask for Mox! 5/31/2008

Over the course of the last few years, I've tried numerous things to lose weight: I cut calories, cut carbs, worked out for countless hours, etc. You name it-I've probably tried it. In fact, prior to signing up with Tri-D Fitness/Mox, I'd actually tried working out with numerous other trainers and at best, these ""other trainers"" helped me meet my goals about 50% of the way; it was never 100%, and therefore it was never good enough. Needless to say, when I met Mox, I was skeptical. However, because he came very highly recommended to me from another wonderful trainer at Tri-D Fitness (Brad), I decided to trust him and begin working out with Mox.\r \r After just a few workouts with Mox, I knew I had found perhaps the best trainer around. He was everything I needed in a trainer-challenging, motivating, encouraging and most importantly, he got the job done! I explained my goals to him when I met him and truthfully, I never thought in a million years I would be able to accomplish them: Mox helped me not only meet but FAR SURPASS all the goals I had set for myself. After only working out with Mox for about 8 months, I lost 14 pounds (and I now weigh what I weighed when I was 18!), I went from a size 8 to a size 4, I have definition in muscles I never knew I had and most importantly, I feel better than I have ever felt in my life.\r \r One of my favorite things about working out with Mox is that he is a constant source of support (he is always calling, emailing, etc) and he truly cares about his clients. For example, for every pound I lost, I was so happy...but Mox? He was ECSTATIC! To Mox, this isn't ""just a job;"" his client's success is very personal to him. Needless to say, his level of dedication is unreal; he will not stop and will not be satisfied until you, the client, is happy.\r \r If you want to see your body change in ways you never dreamed was possible, give Mox a call. It is truly one of the best--if not THE BEST--thing I have ever done for myself. Pros: Clean environment, friendly atmosphere, caring staff, incredible results more

Tri-D Fitness 5/19/2008

I have been in the Wellness industry for over 20 years. I am Personal Trainer , Wellness Coach, Massage Therapist, Tai Chi/ Chi Kung teacher and Fitness Dance Instructor. I chose Tri-D fitness to serve my Personal Trainer intership this year because of their awesome reputation. \r \r From the first moment I walked into their studio, I knew I had made the right choice. I studied with Brad Berscheid and learned technique that I will be using in every part of my practice. Every trainer and massage therapist on Tri-D's team is top notch! I got to know them and highly respect their work. Their technique is cutting edge and they meet the client at exactly where the client is, defining clents needs and delivering unique programs that really work. Their holistic approach brings lasting changes. I saw every indivudal that we worked with have powerful and positive results. more

Mox Herrman: More than a great trainer 5/19/2008

Mox is not only a great trainer, he is a great person! While keeping you motivated on your training and on your goals, he makes the whole experience fun by being very hands-on, and by keeping an open mind and open heart about your own training and personal issues. He participates in events with his clients, he calls and sends text messages to see how you are doing and to motivate you, and he is always available if you have something you need to talk about. I have been training with Mox for many years now, and what I feel is the best result for me is that I feel healthy, I feel happy, and I love the way I look! Thanks Mox for being such a positive influence in my life! Pros: Trainers, Parking, Facilities more

The best money you will ever spend! Go get a new body, lose the weight or tell that 10k who's boss!!! 5/19/2008

Brad Bersched has been my personal trainer at Tri D Fitness for two years now and he has changed my life! What makes this group of professionals stand high above the rest is their consistency, organizational skills, non-aggressive atmosphere, friendly and approachable staff and personal attentiveness including an emphasis on reading people and addressing their particular fitness pitfalls. Whereas other gyms I""ve visited have addressed some concerns or simply didn't motivate me overall, Tri D has truly mastered a holistic approach to ensuring you achieve your goals through proven training techniques, diet, and EDUCATION. In my case, I've adopted a different lifestyle using the things I've learned from Brad and it is the key to my continued success in or away from the gym. This is Tri D's intention! I always feel that Brad and everyone at Tri D are my constant cheerleaders and biggest fans in fitness! I've moved to NE Portland but still travel to this studio because it's worth it! Pros: friendly feel, caring and EDUCATED people, clean and welcoming environment Cons: I wish the studio was downtown Portland more

Tri-D for your fitness needs!! 5/19/2008

Tri-D Fitness is awesome!! I interned there last summer and everyone is so nice and helpful. When training someone you get PERSONAL, one-on-one help, where you don't have to worry about 10 or 20 other people around you taking up your personal training time. The trainers use methods that I think are so much better than cliche gyms like 24-hour or Bally's. They incorporate every aspect of fitness in to their sessions, which means that you don't only go away with a slimmer waist or bigger arms, but you also get training for your ADLs (Activities of Daily Living.), such as sitting down and getting up from a chair, or lifting something with your legs as opposed to lifting with your back, etc. Many of the people who are trained at Tri-D have memberships to the aforementioned or other gyms, but when it comes to being trained they go to Tri-D Fitness because they know that they will be getting first-class service. Pros: One-on-one training Cons: Nothing - it's a great studio all around more

If you're serious about fitness, try Tri-D! 5/19/2008

I started training with Brad almost 4 years ago. He was my friend through the Beaverton Chamber and I knew he was committed to fitness. I had gained a lot of weight and was seriously out of shape. Over the next 2 years, I lost 40 pounds, went down 4 dress sizes and lost 12% body fat. Brad worked with me on everything - from how to eat right, to supplements, to how to successfully exercise at home (I'm not a gym person). My husband says I look better now than when we were married! Everyone is terrific at Tri-D - warm, friendly, they really treat you like a member of the family. If you want to change the way you think about food and your body - go to Tri-D! Pros: Personalized training for safety and motivation Cons: I wish they were closer to my house more
