Transitions Landscape & Design

We had contacted several landscape contractors to create a sensible / affortable landcape and patio for the back yard of our 30 year old home in the spring of 2011. We also were plagued with a drainage issue behind our home that has progressively ruined our useablity of the existing lawn area over the years we have live in our home. We had no responses from serveral contractors and ones that did respond had very little knowledge of how to manage the water issue properly before constructing a permenant structure behind our home. Several contractor were not even on base with our budget or our concept of how we lived and our style. Transitions and one other company presented proposed which we paid for. Transitions had the most complete estimate and was inline with our budget for the patio and the adjacent landscape around the patio. They also worked with our towns public works department to create a solution that would manage the water issue in the back yard long term without doing illegal practices. This showed us the true character of the company and the owner who was willing to take the time to work throught the processes of appovals to correct the drainage issue before starting the project. The project was completed with out a hitch and we now have a dry, usable back yard that we can use and manage without alot of work. The patio and landscape are beautiful with color year round and we have minimal maintenance. The drainage issue was solved and we can use our lawn year round. A bit of advice to other customers; dont be affraid to pay for a design because you get what you pay for. Also ask the local town for the regulations before allowing a contractor to work at your property and is a permit / inspection required for the work. Finally if you don't feel confident with the solutions that a contractor proposes and the answers to your questions don't make sense, Don't Hire! Transitions Landscape & Design 1095 Quaker Rd, Macedon, NY 14502 recently completed some excavation to address some major drainage issues in my back yard. I had ponding in the backyard and water pouring into my basement last winter and spring. I had received quotes from many contractors with various solutions that ranged from $4000 to over $10,000. Transitions recommendations saved me over $6000 and expensive foundation work that wasn't necessary. I no longer have any ponding in the back yard and my basement is dry. The owner was very professional, took the time to answer all of my questions and even came in under budget. I would highly recommend Transitions Landscape & Design and I plan to use them again in the future. more

design and work great.. problem is with their follow up or lack there of. they quoted some repair work, did take him sometime to show up and quote. agreed to the repair work, but never showed and never returned calls. will need or request further work from someone else more

Transitions Landscape is the property manager for the plaza where I work. They do a wonderful job and the plaza always looks great. The landscaping complements the plaza and is always well maintained. They also do the snow plowing and are always on site to be sure the parking lot, back doors, and sidewalks are cleared of snow and ice. Any interior repairs have been completed in an effecient time frame and done well. You couldn't ask for a better contractor. The owners, well, they definately go above and beyond to make sure their clients are happy. Pros: Great Quality Work more

Transitions has overseen our property for the past 17yrs. We love them. They do a terrific job!! They take care of the property as though it were their own. They do our snow plowing, sweeping, landscaping, and property maintenance. We have had no complaints from any of the tenants in our shopping center. Transitions is responsible for plowing the plaza my store is in and they are mediocre at best. Never early enough, sometimes they don't plow out the back door, and we have to ""stay on the good side"" of the owner, if you know what I mean. Other than that they're great. more
