hello everyone I am a student right now at Toro and honestly I don't see what many people complain about. Yes the trucks are old and they do not look so appealing but they get the job done. The way I see it is if you can master those trucks you can drive anything. if you ask for help then you will get the help. on top of that the price for everything that you get is really good especially with the unlimited classes you get. I had my doubts when I read the reviews but I took a theory class and the teacher who gave the class took that doubt away I know I made a right choice by choosing Toro and I cant wait to graduate and make some money !!!! more

my opinion about Toro is that its a good school you go for what you go for which is to get your license. Many people complain about how old the trucks are and how they look ugly but as ugly as the trucks are people are still graduating and being succesful like myself. the staff was very proffesional and very friendly. the instructors are very strict on how you do the skills so you dont cheat yourself they make sure you are ready for the DMV and they test you much harder than the DMV so that they feel confident that you will pass when you go to take your test. really do not have much complians about Toro more

As was stated before from some other students, the equipment it is pretty old, doesnt get proper maintenance, the school doesnt respect your schedule, one of the trainers gives priority to students of his own ethnicithy, if you bring that to his attention he says that he got the last word that if you got complaints call the main office, but.... nothing gets done, the money that we pay is green right? so should be the same equal instruction and time of practice for every student, its better to consider better options before go there. more

Im a recent grad from TORO and let me inform you before you invest your hard earned money. 1.Their training trucks are in EXTREMELY poor condition lacking vital parts such as emergency brakes for example. DOT would not let those truck operate in the condition they are in 2. Instructors are EXTREMELY unintrested in your training and rarely monitor your progress. I got my tests signed off as passing when I never even took took them. 3. The so called placement list they provide is mostly companies that have nothing to do with TORO and dont even know who they are with a few asking to be removed from their list. 4. Jessie (owner) is convienently unavalible whenever you need assistence with placement and never returns calls....Unless you still owe a balance then they are more than happy to return your calls. They are unprofessional and not worth you money. more

Toro school and success 11/13/2011

Schools are like anything else in life. You get out of it what you put into it. For me selecting Toro truck driving school for my class A training was the best decision I could have made. From its wonderful office staff and their flexable class scheduling, to the patient instructors in the field. They are all great. Thanks to Toro`s training program I have taken the DMV written exam and the DMV final driving exam and passed both on the first try. Because of Toro truck driving school I now have my class A CDL, and the skills and self confidence to get that trucking job and financial security that goes with it. GO TORO TRUCK DRIVING SCHOOL! more

It worked for me... and fast too. 11/10/2010

I started Toro and not even two months later, I have my class A license. I will admit that the trucks are peices of work... The tires are bald and the gears suck and they are far from new but they get the job done! If you can make it thru Toro, you deserve to be a trucker. more

Toro is a Good School... 2/26/2010

I just finished my classes with Toro and passed my DMV pre-trip inspection, skills, and driving test.. I was @ the school for approx. 6-7 weeks. The school is what you make of it. If you want to get your CDL, they give you the tools to get it. It is just on how you approach the class. I had taken the class seriously, listened to the instructors, and studied! The yard and trucks are not in the greatest of conditions, but you will have plenty of practicing of manuevers to pass the exams! The school is good, it's just what YOU make of it! Pros: They work with your personal schedule.. Cons: Trucks are in older condition.. more

There are better schools 8/1/2009

There office is in Bellflower but there yard is in the city of Gardena.......I checked out there trucks and yard before i gave any money and the first thing i noticed was the trucks had bald tires and there were a bit older and kinda beat up but i guess there not going to use new trucks for training students. Also the yard is dirt and not level and small , I never went back to sign up i went somewhere else for the same price with newer trucks and a hugh paved lot. That was 3 months ago and they keep calling me to come to the office......... they must not have any new recruits because they keep calling a number nobody answers. Also if you check truck driving web sites online you can get a lot of information from truck drivers and i can tell you that the economy is slowing down ALL businesses including Trucking so don't let anybody tell you that the trucking industry isn't effected because they are and its slow there to. ITS SLOW EVERYWHERE !! At least with a CDL you have a few options with Jobs not just Long haul Freight. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Old Trucks more

i highly recommended going to Toro School, i got my license in about 4weeks, the staff is very friendly, always helpful, im not sure why does other guys are not happy with the services, if you but your mind and time into getting your license you will do it, they probably didnt used their minds. more

Toro trucking school 4/3/2008

I agree with previous reviewer. But when I went to Toro it was called Dial. They have since changed their name. I went in the late 90's (?) paid about the same and the way the previous guy is describing the trucks none of them of were ever changed or repaired since I went to Dial. The place does look like a junk yard. Trucks sucked. Poor instruction. Too many students. But i suppose if all you want is to get your license cheap then it may work for you. If you an inexperienced driver most companies will still make you go through their training program so will learn what you missed at Toro. more

avoid always 12/30/2007

this my first message to you about toro shool of trucking.i went to that school about 4 yrs ago .i think i only paid 800 bucks.i paid it all up front that way they would put me at the 2pm class wich is the slowst time and can get better trained with less poeple supposedly.this shool uses very old outdated trucks with 8 speeds that have hard shifting transmissions and very ugly .they gave me the pre trip information papers to study and well basically i had to learn it with out much of there help i had to ask alot of questions because they dont give u class training about nothing wich made me mad but well i had payd in full so im assed out .they have bad pretrip training alll they do is tell u where all the parts of the truck are located and in a very short while they want u to learn the pretrip about the interior and brakes air n such.they have about 6 trucks for diffrent tipes of monuvering traning i mean all of the truck r so bad some run so rough and some r missing or cracked windows and most have bad alighnment and bad clutches.some r so noisy more than normal.and r hard to get the gears in.the only truck they had that was road ready was a very very old truck with 8 speeds wich now in days companys all have 10 and over speeds .when they were training to drive on the road they would have about 5 to 6 guys packed on the truck like chikens and we had only about 10 minutes each to drive and so that is no good.basically i myself had to learn about trucking and shifting and monuvers beacause they dont put focus on u and it seems they dont care.when i went to get my cdl i failed it the first 2 trys until the third and thats because i started to get the trucks in the yard without there permission to train my self with out there help and thats the way i passed.trucks there have lots of problems broken windows missing parts hard to monuver.what they want is to get u out asap.training yard looks like a junkyard.0 stars for this school dont go to toro trust me.
