Best

Yeah so they moved locations. It was time for the old shack to fall. The new location is right down the road and still serving those delicious coney dogs. My favorite is a regular...

careful with comparison from old to new. 3/22/2011

The current tony's coneys is pretty good. Please do not compare to pre 1970s coneys for those of you in the older generation. The coneys changed after my grandfather sold the store. They are still a great coney, just slightly different in taste. \r My mother made my brother and the origanal coneys a lot during my youth and would occasionally distribute the sauce to older friends and coney fans. We still have the origanal recipe to this day. I was very sad that the origanal signs and building had to go as it was about the only thing left of my grand parents and that side of my family. I am however extremely happy that Tony's Coneys is still going strong to today. more

Great Dogs 10/1/2008

I am a big fan of ""good"" coneys, Tony's is really good, they could give you a little more sauce on the coney but the taste is great( just ask for extra sauce). A coney with onions, mustard and sauce with a rootbeer, it doesn't get any better than that. Pros: great taste Cons: not enough sauce more

Amazing ice cream and sandwiches 4/3/2008

Let's see here, I've been eating Tony's Coneys ice cream since I was a young girl, and I've always loved it. Recently, I've begun to eat their actual food. I'm not much of a coney fan, so I rarely get their coneys, but I do enjoy their shredded chicken and BBQ pork sandwiches. Their service is great and they've never messed up one of my orders.\r \r I've never been a fan of their hush puppies, though. It seems like there's something up with them, but that could just be me being my picky self. Pros: Newly added drive thru, good food, great service Cons: The drive thru is difficult to manuveur, and some of the food isn't so great more

Since 1951 huh? Why? 3/19/2008

I visited Tony's after the bass brothers gave it a 4. I ordered 2 coney's, plus 1 works, plus a sampler appetizer.\r and a bowl of chili. The dogs if anything were too salty. Something was up with the onions too. The works dog was the better of the dogs. Their onion rings were good, the zucinni OK, the poppers not the best (I lean toward cream cheese) The mushrooms were bland... All items were hot. The chili could have been better. Perhaps I'm used to the coney's around Detroit and the type of chili sauce they use. (chicago beef inc.)\r I will say the counter staff was efficient and pleasant. and all that came to just under 10 bucks. Pros: Fast, efficient service, Hot food. Cons: average quality more

Best Coney's on the West Side! 1/18/2008

Yeah so they moved locations. It was time for the old shack to fall. The new location is right down the road and still serving those delicious coney dogs. My favorite is a regular w/ sauce, onions, mustard, and either cole slaw or saurkraut. Order that with some golden fries and a milk shake and you'll be in heaven. I graduated from Westland HS in 2002 and I would just like to thank Toney's Coneys for giving me a place to skip school and grab a bite. It's hard to sit through classes dreaming of Tony's Coneys. Oh well I made and I'm now a successful Police Officer on the West Side. I highly suggest everyone should treat themselves with Tony's Coneys and remember kids stay in school! more

best coney in Columbus 7/29/2006

The other review is just to off for me to sign up and speak my peace. The old place had to go. The new place isn't a trailer. It's a convereted house that now features the same walk up windows, indoor seating, out door seating, and a drive thru!. The menu is packed with goodies from the coneys to hand dipped ice cream to every side fried thing you'd want. Plus New Rome cops are no more so no tickets. Visit Tony's it's very worth it. more

Just not the same . . . 6/7/2006

I grew up with Tony's Coneys right down the street. They were a vintage coney stand with great sundaes and shakes. They had a small counter and just a few tattered stools out front, and you had to fight off flies while eating your ice cream cone. There were old-fashioned signs propped up inside the glass window and the menu always had letters that had fallen off. It was perfectly 1980s, unpretentious, and cheap. Unfortunately, they knocked down the old-fashioned Tony's Coneys sign and (like many other local favorites) turned it into a chain restaurant. Now, Tony's is in a trailor-like building a few blocks away, and it no longer has the nostalgic appeal. Their food might be the same, but it just isn't the same as it was when they operated out of a tiny building, covered by a canapy, with a few wobbly stools out front. Tony's was a far west-side staple, and although it still exists it simply isn't the same. more
