My 16 years old daughter just left there and we will never go there again! I made an appointment for her to have her long hair trimmed and was told it was $30. Well.. Maggie asked her if she wanted it blow dried and she said yes. Little did she know it was an ADDITIONAL $10 to dry her hair, no styling just to dry it! I am so mad that they took advantage of an obvious kid for $10. more

Tony Russo's is an Excellent Salon. The staff are friendly and service oriented. My Stylist Heather Ogle is the best around! A relaxed, well decorated environment makes the experience a pleasure! more

Receptionist not friendly 11/17/2011

The receptionist answering the phone was not the person you want to be taking phone calls. I explained my needs and she still asked me the same question I just told her. It sounded as if she was having another conversation at the same time, she didn't listen to what I said and was very unhelpful. more

Reply to ""Dissatisfied"" 6/7/2011

In response to the dissatisfied customer, I could NOT disagree with you more! I have been a customer of Debbie's for several years and have never been anything but happy with her work, as have several of my friends who also go to her on a regular basis.\r Yes, there have been a couple of times that something Debbie tried on my hair did not work as expected. However, she has willingly corrected the situation AND insisted on doing it FREE OF CHARGE! \r My occupation requires me to work with the general public, and I truly love my job. Over the years I have come to realize that there are some people that will not be happy with the service no matter what is done to satisfy them...and I have a strong suspicion that you are indeed in that category. \r It is beyond my realm of imagination that Debbie would speak to a customer, especially a first-timer, in the manner in which you describe. Obviously you have yet to find someone who is able to satisfy your requirements for working with a client with curly hair. Once a woman finds a stylist they are truly happy with, there is little that could sway them to go to someone else.\r It is my experience that any service provider is more than willing to work with a client to ensure their satisfaction. However, if that client becomes overly pushy and belligerent, the vendor is entitled to push back. What you have accused Debbie of saying to you is totally out of character for her and I could not disagree with your review more! \r more

Debbie Watson is an unprofessional joke 4/21/2011

So last week I got my hair cut by alleged ""curly hair specialist"" Debbie Watson at Tony Russos in Ellisville. Not only am I disatisfied with the cut, I am appalled by her behaviour and the way they run their business. I thought due to Debbie's internet advertisment of her ""experience"" and ""ability"" to cut hair that I would be satisfied with her service. She cut the bottom layer of my hair after I had told her not to cut it, and left the middle part long, too long, like david bowie from the labyrinth. Her cut was so innacurate that I should have known it would be terrible as she was cutting it. She did not use a comb to ensure accuacy or evenness, she was so lazy that she could not even wet my hair to comb it through to see that she left it a jagged uneven mess. I discovered this after I got home and had rinsed it myself. I came in 2 hours later so she could fix the sloppy haircut (they initially wanted me to wait 5 days for the correction but I refused). When I came in to get it fixed, she did nothing but ask me to point out the parts that I wasn't happy with.. I could not even rely on her to use her knowledge or skills to do the job she was trained to do. I literally had to tell her what to do. The correction cut ended when I was unable to see anything else wrong with it. After I washed it I was shocked to still see the middle layer too long and parts of it still very uneven. I was upset so I called the salon and talked to the receptionist, and I asked to speak with the manager. She told me she was the manager. I explained my hair's condition and she told me Debbie would call me the next day. When I spoke to Debbie, I explained that I was upset that my hair is uneven and too short on bottom compared to the rest. I was assuming she would offer to fix it, like any salon respectable would, but instead she accused me of owing her money. Apparently when she doesn't do a good job she feels she should be compensated for having to fix it due to her true lack of investment and skills. I was told if I came into the salon to ask for a refund or a touchup that she would call the police. I'm sure she just doesn't want her boss' to see the uneven joke of a haircut she gave me, or maybe she had already spent the money. I am embarrased for this company, I was trying to tell them I would slander them on the internet but they kept hanging up on me. They may have the money I paid for a terrible haircut, but the way they treated me over the phone also ensured this review. I am shocked, appaled, and embarrased for this company. Bottom line, don't go to Tony Russos. It is a gamble especcially if you care about the look and condition of your hair. Debbie claims to be a specialist in curly hair, but my hair is slightly wavy/curly and she couldn't even cut it properly. I'm sure if you have straight hair she couldn't cut it either. Lazy? Inexperienced? Treats customers poorly? You get it all at Tony Russos. more

Love this place 4/21/2009

I have had a great experience every time I have walked in the door of Tony's. I LOVE my hair dresser. She does an incredible job for me each time I come. She has worked other places and loves this one the best also. I know many people who come here. Some use my hair dresser and some use others. Everyone has posative and nice things to say about Tony's. I recommend going there over every other place I have gone to. Pros: Friendly and professional more

Awesome Stylist! 3/6/2009

I have had curly hair my entire life and HATED it; until, that is, I met Debbie. She made me love my hair - she showed me ways to style it, work with it, and make it fit my face and figure. She explained things about curly hair that I never knew - tips for keeping it healthy, how to work with it instead of against it, etc. I have followed Debbie to two different salons now. I will follow her anywhere! Pros: nice, caring, understanding, and eager Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Great hair stylist 11/17/2008

I strongly recommend Debbie Watson to anyone looking for a stylist that is contemporary, listens attentively, and has the talent and experience to follow through. I found Debbie because I was looking for someone that could work with my overly stressed curly hair that I had been fighting for years. She trained with Lorraine Massey from New York, and she took the time to explain cutting curly hair, products that are effective, and how to get my hair in good shape again. Debbie was so patient with all my questions, and I soon found a friend in her. My experience with Debbie changed my attitude about having such unruly hair, and actually, for the first time, feel like having curly hair is an asset and not a curse. Tony Russo's is easy to get to off of Manchester Rd and Clayton and the parking is easy and available. \r more

Came out of this place with a burned scalp! 2/24/2008

Hopefully this place has gotten better. I went here a few years ago for some highlights. The staff was very nice/pleasant, but my hairdresser was awful. I wanted some natural-looking highlights. After applying the color and foils, she put me under a heat lamp and disappeared for several minutes. This lamp was literally 3-4"" from the top of my head; was BLAZINGLY hot. Before I knew it my hair was smoking. The heavy lamp was pushed up behind my chair and I was seated at a counter, so I really had nowhere to go. I bent forward and yelled to get someone's attention, and a staff member rushed off to get my hairdresser, who quickly removed the foil from my hair (the foil was so hot it was burning her hands). My scalp was badly burned while under the lamp and during the process of taking out the hot foils. She was very apologetic and seemed quite upset with the fact that I was injured, but how careless can you be? The salon didn't charge me for the services (if you can call it that), but that was all they offered to do. Really hope nothing like this has happened to anyone else. Cons: Unprofessionalism more
