Small business, that is. Tom's Maytag is a classic case of a local small business that beats the big guys and does it regularly. You should give them a try!

Rude and Dishonest 1/12/2012

On November 10, 2011 I decided to purchase a refrigerator and stove from Tom's Maytag in Highland IN. I reside in Highland and always try to shop local. From the get go the saleslady was rude and gave me the impression that she thought she was doing me a favor by serving me. I had to backorder my appliances because I wanted beige(they now call it biscuit) I was assured that the merchandise would be shipped at the end of November and I would have my merchandise delivered and installed by the first week of December. Well guess what? It is January 12, 2012 and still no delivery. I have called numerous times and get the runaround making it all my fault because of the special order status. When I still hadn't seen my by the middle of December I inquired once again about delivery and was told I would have it by Christmas but alas it got held up because of the seasonal rush. The same applied over New Year. Well hear we are and still no stuff. I called again today and was told next Wednesday was the day and that her delivery man just got out the hospital and that was another reason everything was late. Next it will Groundhog day, MLK day, Valentines day holding up delivery. I travel with my career and the truth of the matter is that I will not be here then or at least the end of March. When I informed the saleslady(still very rude) she said you did not tell me you would be out town. I didn't and still don't see what business is that of hers. I gave her the option of refunding my full payment or storing it until I return. Once again Miss Congeniality rudely said they will store it. I don't know if this lady is part ower of the store or has pictures of the owner in a compromising postition, but if she worked for me she would be long gone. No people skills what so ever. Between the rudeness and lame excuses I would not recommend Tom's Maytag to my worst enemy. more

Unprofessional.... 5/18/2011

After researching dryers at the larger retail stores, my mom had her heart set on this smaller store feeling that she was getting a better price. I provided my card information back in April and the total amount was immediately applied. My mother still doesn't have her dryer. She decided to phone and stated that at a minimum we should receive some type of discount because they were quick to charge my card, but we have been waiting forever for a dryer. more

RUDE is their Middle Name 6/22/2010

I'm looking to buy both a washer and a dryer. I decided to see if Tom's Maytag had a website. On the website I found three very poor reviews about them. Aside from the reviews I figured I'd at least give them a call to get some questions answered. I talked to Amanda who wasn't at all friendly and I mentioned the reviews and told her that I hesitate to try them out because there are 3 review and all three are pretty bad. She said there is 1 review on Yellow Pages and it is a good review. One good review? I think she expected me to be content with that. I live locally to their Highland location. I asked them if I tried them out (despite the bad reviews) . . . if they would waive the delivery charge of $20 if I bought both a washer and a dryer. Amanda then said ""instead of it being $40 delivery charge, it will only be $20"". I then said ""Delivery charge is only $20 to begin with, if local delivery, am I correct? I then said, ""Both the washer and dryer would be delivered in one trip, am I correct?"" and she said yes but it would be $20 delivery charge per item you buy."" Okay this is nothing short of RETARDED!!!! If both items are delivered in one trip, there should not be $20 delivery charge for every item you buy. She was not nice, she was loud and condescending as I tried to make sense of this and repeated back how a one-trip delivery charge of $20 should not be doubled because you bought two major items. If I were to buy two major appliances, it should only be $20 to begin with because it was all to be delivered in one trip. Why charge for two trips when you are delivering in one trip. Needless to say, they will NOT get my business. I merely made a phone call and they didn't even TRY to make up for the bad reviews they received. Amanda was rude and condescending and now I further believe those reviews I read. I was willing to give them a chance but we couldn't even get past the phone call. Please people, do yourself a favor and just say ""NO"" to Tom's Maytag. Paying a little extra would be well worth not dealing with these people. Pros: There aren't any PROS about them Cons: Lots of Cons - too many to mention in one line more

Buyer Beware - Tom's Maytag horrible service and policies 8/18/2009

I purchased a commercial Maytag washer/dryer set delivered on 5/12/09. I specifically asked for commercial quality, best they had to offer machines. The washer was not properly laundering clothes and on 7/31/09 (not even 3mths later!) stopped supplying water to the cycle. Called the repairman and he came on 8/5/09 but wasn't able to fix it because the part needed was not available for another 10 days. I complained to TM and got them to rush the part. Repairman returned a week later on 8/13/09, it was the wrong part, and the machine still wasn't working. He was supposed to call a techline support from the site but didn't have the number on him and instead of waiting for the shop to get him the number, he left. He told us w/o the tech support to guide him, his hands were tied -- nothing he could do, don't know when he was to return. I went back to TM and complained again and was given a bunch of excuses for the repairman uselessness so I asked for my money back or a replacement. I was told the 2yr warranty on the product was for repair only not replacement. In order for TM to take the machine back, we had to go thru different channels and the tech support before the repairman could label it unrepairable and even so, who knows when I would get it. In the meantime the pile of laundry is growing exponentially and I have to deal with it w/o a machine, not their problem - nothing they can do until they contact tech support. The repairman came back on 8/17/09 called tech support and was told another part was needed, he didn't have it but he'll come back tomorrow by 11:00am. Today 8/18/09, he was a no show so we called and were told the part is on backorder -- another 48hrs or more until they get it. Seeing that we'd already wasted 8days the first time waiting on a part that wasn't broke, nothing guarantees me that this new part we are waiting on will fix it, yet TM still refuses to replace it. Instead they are offering an extra year warranty, now I asked: what good does this do when the product is garbage, the repairman is inept, and their customer service stinks? the way I see it, their solution is just an extra year of timeless aggravation having to deal with them and the lemon washer, no thanks! all I want is a machine that WORKS!! Had I known TM's warranties and policies were not worth a darn, I could've gone to Menards, bought a cheap korean made washer with a 1yr mfg. warranty that had probably last longer than this commercial piece of junk Maytag washer and being ahead of the game. more

Would'nt wish them on my worst enemy 4/13/2009

First they delivered the wrong stove. Then they had an installer hook up our refrigerator. It was a bad hook up and ruined the wood floor in our brand new house. We called them to come look at it and the female owner told us to put a fan on it and the wood would go back down. That didn't work. We have a buckled area of about 10 ft. They didn't come out to check the refrigerator so we had to hire a plumber. They said that hey didn't believe that they should have to fix our floor. It was clearly the installation that was wrong. It has cost a lot of money to fix. They have horrible business skills. I have my own business along with my fiance and we would never think to speak to a customer the way they spoke to us. I highly recommend not using them Cons: Don't stand behind their installers more
