Yummy! 9/2/2008

My girlfriend took me to Tomo?s and I had a very pleasant experience. Since I am not a big sushi eater, I greatly enjoyed the Robata Grill where they cooked vegetables and meat on the grill. It was like eating BBQ food but better! And it was cool that they had draft beers because I don?t think many Japanese restaurants have that. I never knew how good Japanese beers (Sapporo and Kirin) were. I enjoyed my time there because although the restaurant was busy the waitresses and the chefs (open kitchen) were very welcoming and kind. They even spent some time explaining their 6th year anniversary sweepstakes. They were saying how they had this competition going that is going to end on Thanksgiving Day where the first prize wins a Wild Horse Ranch Membership worth thousands of dollars, 2nd prize wins a $250 Tomo gift certificate, and much more like bottle of expensive sake, Warrior tickets, etc. I am definitely going back there again and again! Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area. I know because my gf drags me to all the Japanese restaurants! Pros: authentic food, kind workers, relaxing, open kitchen, woman sushi cook! Cons: none! more

Best Japanese Food Ever! 8/22/2008

\r \r I visited Pleasanton not too long ago, and I went to this awesome restaurant as a recommendation. The first thing I noticed was the open kitchen and how the main chef of the restanrant was a woman!!! In sushi world, there aren't that many woman main chefs!! She seemed very friendly. The food was excellent; the best sushi place I have even been, and I have been to at least twenty different Japanese restaurants. I like how the restaurant accomodates people who are not very good at eating sushi, and people who love to try new things like Ankimo (fish intestine) and Uni (Sea Urchin). I also like that they have so many different types of drinks including Japanese martinis! I wish I lived there because I heard they were doing this contest to win things like the WildHorse Ranch Membership worth thousands of dollars and $250 gift certificate to their restuarant!!!! I would go back there in a heartbeat! The price is very affordable too! Pros: Woman chef (that's cool), affordable, fresh fish, authentic japanese food more

Best Sushi in the East Bay 7/26/2008

I am a huge sushi fan, and if you are in the east bay, Tomo is the place to go. There are a few others around, but Tomo's fish is so fresh, the service is outstanding and the place is small enough that you don't feel lost in the crowd. Nigiri and sashimi are wonderful, especially the white tuna and yellowtail. And, the rolls are huge, but not all rice - just the right amount - try the spider roll and the Pleasanton roll. I travel to this area several times of the year for work, and I always make it to Tomo. They just added beer on tap to their menu as well as many new rolls. Pros: Excellent, fresh sushi and wonderful service. Cons: The secret is out - the place is small so you may have to wait for a table or a seat at the sushi bar. more
