Love it, love it, love it!!!!!! Authentic japanese food!!!! I lived in northern Japan for over four years. Having been back in the states for over 11 years, I have been looking for a restaurant that even comes close to the food I had over there....TOMO is IT! Fresh food and great service.....all wonderful! Everyone is very polite and very friendly! Pros: All great!!! Cons: Go see for yourself and then make your decisions....... more

Sushi in Goodyear 1/1/2008

First of all, to the lady with the children... I am a frequent customer at Tomo's and I see children sitting at the Sushi Bar ALL OF THE TIME. It must have been some miscommunication. By the way, stating that the waitresses were whispering something to eachother in Japanese? Again, I am a frequent customer and none of them are even Japanese. On to the food, Tomo has great rolls, I recommend the snow corn which is a very rich and creamy baked roll, or the hot crunch. If you do not eat sushi their barbeque beef or tempura are great options! You get Miso on the house. The service is so-so, it really depends on the day you go. more

Best Sushi Place Ever!!! 12/27/2007

The food was awesome, the workers were friendly, and what more can you get!? The fish were very fresh, including the rolls were very tasty. I specially liked the Passion of Fire since it was served with real fire burning. I also enjoyed the Hot Night roll which were a bit spicy, but savory. In conclusion, I definetely recommend Tomo, and about the child thing, I disagree. Maybe the waitresses forgot or maybe they didn't really hear you. Well, Tomo is great and what more can I say? I definetely recommend ANYONE to go there if you want an excellent sushi experience! Pros: Everything! Cons: Can't think of any more

Mmmmm! 12/24/2007

I love this place. Everytime me and my junky little teenage friends go in there its wonderful. The miso soup they serve with everything is awesome. I have not had a roll there i didnt love. This lady with the kids should probally mention their ages. toddlers at the bar...Id say no too. Maybe they had a bad time that day with someones terrible kids messing around. Shouldnt of been so picky about the seating. Missed out on something great :P. Ive also seen children that had to be a least 10 at the bar. Back to Tomo's awesomeness i havent had a roll there that i didnt love. Id reccomend them all. I love the soft shell crab one. The goodyear roll was great too. The only thing i wouldnt reccomend is the ocean salad. Its intense, very pretty though. I still payed for it even though i couldnt eat it. Has a flavor i just cant handle. But everything else WONDERFUL. Price is great too. Pros: mmm Miso, Good prices, friendly environment Cons: people with children who come in and be picky about seating. sit at the table! more

Not a Good Experience - they do not want children in there! 10/23/2007

I was so happy that they opened a Japanese restaurant in our area and decided to go there for sushi. We usually sit at the sushi bar even though I have my 2 children with me. Growing up with raw fish and fish itself, my children loves sushi and we've always sat at the sushi bar wherever we have been for sushi. However, at this place, I asked if we could wait for the sushi bar and we will just be outside. It was okay for one lady until another lady came up to me, looked at the kids and said, ""NO"" sit at the table. I said, well, we will wait for the sushi bar, she looked at the kids again and said ""NO"" at the table. I told her okay fine, we will leave, she said ok, and mumbled something to the other lady. The next day, I called and talked to someone on the phone about it, where she was nonchalant and didn't care. \r \r Like I said, I was excited to see a Japanese restaurant in our area and more and more businesses are coming in but we do not need the mentality of what this place has. I live in Litchfield Park and I will continue to drive to Mesa at our favorite sush bar (Sekai), where they respect children and see them as people. more
