This was my first time dining at Timpano after being referred serveral times by different friends. We arrived a little later than most diners and all I heard was the beautiful voice of Belinda Womack! I thought wow, this is going to be great. We chose to dine on the covered patio. The server was very helpful at answering our questions. We took his suggestion and ordered the mussels to start with. He was right. Best mussels in town! The chef ravioli was very tasty and portioned just right. Didn't have room for dessert but they sure looked appetizing. I would definately recommend Timpano Chophouse to all my friends. Especially on friday night, when Belinda is singing. Great experience! Pros: Great service, atmosphere, and entertainment! more

I love this place! I would eat here everday if i could. Friday is my birthday and i will be eating there!!!! The chicken flatbread is sooo good, the steaks are amazing and the sides are out of this world. This is a great place to hang out with friends or family. Pros: Food is the best in town! more

\r Amazingly Surprised, \r \r I was recommended to dine with a friend at Timpano's, never being there I was intrigued. We arrived to quaint Hyde Park Village which was a setting that you can only imagine in movies. Everything was nicely decorated for christmas and on the corner was Timpano. The restaruant had a nice warm, energetic setting, the bar was packed, we sat at a nice booth in the middle of everything. Service was prompt, The food was mouth watering, from the Mussel's to the Steak. The live muscians were a treat as well. For a night out with friends( my setting) or a date/special occasion, I would highly reccomend to try them out for any reason. I WILL be returning again soon. My friend and I sat for dinner at 7pm on a Friday night. We sat at the table for about 15 minutes before anyone took a drink order. Our beers (in bottles) took about 15 minutes to arrive. When the beers were placed on our table, my friend had to shout out our appetizer order to our waiter as he ran away (we were hungry and had yet to place an order). We were shocked when our appetizers arrived 10 minutes later - and had still yet to place our dinner order. Our service was so bad, we asked to speak with the manager. The manager Steve came to our table, apologized, and then said he would ""take care of us"". At that point we placed our orders. Almost a half hour later - our meals arrived. My meal was very good, but my friend's meal was terrible. She took one bite and decided to send it back - unfortunately there was no waiter around for the next 15 minutes - so out of pitty for her starvation, I gave her half of my dinner. To my complete shock, the waiter proceded to try to sell us a dessert - when we demanding our check so we could just leave (we were now over 2 hours into dinner). I can't believe we had to pay for our meals. They did everything but splash water on us - the service was so bad! At the end of the meal, after we paid, I complained to the manager again - he gave me a VIP pass to try the restaurant out again - but to be honest, I am not sure I want to. For the amount of money this restaurant charges for food - and the atmosphere they wish to promote, I am absolutely shocked that the service is so incredibly bad. i've been a regular at timpano since moving to hyde park in 2005. every time i've been there, the service, food and overall experience has been absolutely amazing. the outdoor patio is a great asset and is what a lot of other fine restaurants are missing... also - best martini's in town. highly suggest. Pros: courteous staff, valet most evenings, live music, NYC feel, not a lot of kids during evening Cons: can get packed on certain nights, could ruin the ambience for some more

I have been to Timpano's several times and I have never had a bad experience. I Went this Friday night and I have no complaints. My waiter was courteous and prompt and I like the live music and the general character of the place. It is not the best place to go if you are looking to have a quite conversation with someone but if you want to have good food and a great atmosphere to take someone to I reccomend Timpano's. Went here with a buddy and ordered a seafood appetizer and entree. Both were excellent. Had the shotglass desserts and can say it was perfect. I liked the portions and still managed to take something home. As for the atmosphere, I have always liked this place and try to catch the jazz performances on Fri. and Sat. night. We sat outside and understandably there are insects that can get into the glasses. We notified our waitress about this and she looked at us like we were crazy. Where do I start? After being seated at a too small table, I asked to be moved. The waiter refused although the place was empty. I asked for a manager, none was on duty. I pointed out empty tables on the patio and was told they were taken, although no one ever sat there during our meal. I should have got up and left at that point but was with my boyfriends 80 year old mom who uses a cane and has trouble walking, so I sucked it up hoping the food and service would be an improvment over the snotty host. Big mistake. Although the place was empty, our food took forever to get to our table and arrived cold and tasted bland. I asked for the manager's name and number and left several messages that were not returned. I phoned and E-mailed the corporate office and never received a call or e-mail response. I contacted the St Pete Times by e-mail and told them of my miserable experience, they contacted me back by e-mail and said they could not get any one on the phone at the restaurant or at the corporate office either. I'd heard good things about the restaurant, and made reservations to dine there with friends. When we arrived and told the maitre d' we were meeting friends, he replied somewhat sarcastically, ""It's good to know you have friends."" Not funny. The appetizers were tasty, salad very disappointing (mixed greens with dressing - no croutons, tomatoes, garnish, nothing. Boring). The entrees were delicious, veal piccata, cioppino, salmon - flavorful, expertly prepared. After pouring the first glass of wine, the waiter never came back to refill, so we poured our own wine during the meal. He served my husband an old cup of coffee, and when asked for a fresh cup, replied, ""I'll just take it off the bill."" No new cup of coffee. Each of us ordered a dessert, the shot glass versions with different dessert fillings. The waiter set the plate with 4 desserts in front of our guest and said to her, ""You can hand these out."" We were shocked at his unprofessionalism and rudeness. What a shame that this restaurant with great food, albeit high prices, can't provide service any better than what we received. We won't be back. I Went To timpano chophouse for the first time and it was an amazing time, the seating was very fast and the live entertaiment it amazing also. (if you are looking for a quiet dinner, go before 8pm, Live music starts at about 8:30pm 4 days a week.) \r \r The Service was great and very fast and friendly.. the waiter always had a smile on his face and was very fast with out food and never messed up ONE thing. WOW...The lobster ravioli was the best pasta i have ever had. \r \r The best part is the dessert. Although we had a reservation- we waited over an hour. The service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter droned on about his distaste for management and botched our order. My husbands steak (ordered medium) came out completely burned and overdone. Our waiter took one look at it and wisked it away-- only to return the same steak even more burned. He claimed he misunderstood our body language?? To top it all off, another table's bill was charged to my credit card in addition to the charges for our own meal. When I called the restauraunt manager she was apologetic but still took nearly 2 weeks to remove the extraneous charges ( I had to call 3 times). She asked me to allow the restaraunt to redeem itself by vsiting again. She claimed she was sending gift certificates, they never arrived. The last time I was at Timpano's my party had to ask for water from our waiter 5 or 6 times with no response. We even asked other waiters, still nothing, throughout dinner our water glasses were empty. Finally a waiter walked by with a full pitcher, then walked straight past us and watered the outdoor plants! For the prices they're charging you can do a lot better. I made RSVP online and confirmed them next day. No problem.We were seated within 10 minutes! Sent roses to Timpanos to be placed on table for wife's B'day. Went perfectly! Food/Service was awesome! Went to this restaurant hoping for a nice romantic dinner and it was anything but that. Very loud couldn't even hear yourself talk over the bar noise. Waiter asked if we wanted bread and we never got it. Didn't get a steak knife until 5min. after receiving the steak (and this is a chophouse) waiters walked passed our bill with the credit ready for pick up numerous times. Service and food NOT worth the money that you end up spending. Will NOT go back. Just my opinion hope its helpful. more
