Tillie's Restaurant

I never heard of this place until I started dating my wife back in 1979. Her parents were Italian and insisted I go with them to Tillie's. It was one of the best Italian meals I ever had and we went religiously until just after they upgraded the interior. They went from low tech to a high end atmosphere. They even added a bar. Well, the food changed, dramatically. Yea, they still have the 3 inch raviolis, but the food just isn't the same. We stopped going because the food was not up to what me and my in-laws remembered. Last week, my wife and kids stopped to see if things had changed. No, sorry, same disappointing food. I guess when it changed hands (I heard it was the son's upgrades), the cookbook stayed the same, but the flavor was lost. Pros: Updated Cons: Poor parking, food not as good as it once was more

The best homemade pasta next to my mother's of course. The gnocchi's are great, my absolute favorite. Hand rolled right at the restaurant. I have been going to Tillie's for over 25years. The food is always great and the staff very pleasant. I recommend this place for a family, a couple out for a romantic dinner or a group of friends out to enjoy some of the best Pizza and appetizers you've ever had. Pros: Home made gnocchi's ! Ambeince. Cons: I cannot think of anything. more

I've been eating at Tillies since I was a kid. I get take out at least once a week, if not more! I can honestly say in all these years I've never had a complaint or a bad meal from Tillies!\r \r I went to Italy a few years ago, and I have to tell you . . . the sauce I had in Italy tasted just like Tillies sauce. It's that same ""sweet"" sauce taste! My two favorities are the homemade spaghetti with meatsauce and the pizza! Great atmosphere for 2 or a group of 10. Kid friendly, and a great place for ""date night"". Pros: everything is great about this place Cons: It would be nice if they had delivery more

we love going to tillies for homemade spaghetti with meat sauce and the chicken parm. we seem to order the same thing everytime because it is sooooo fantastic! Endless bread basket served to you right away (no, it is not warm). Gets pretty busy because the food is inexpensive and wonderful. their chicken parm has mushrooms on top of the chicken. tastes much better than olive garden. restaurant is on the darker side so i guess that would be romantic. Pros: good homemade food and sauce Cons: gets pretty busy and there isnt a waiting room. more

Quite simply, one of the best italian places I've ever eaten at. A small family restaurant located in McKeesport PA, that most people wouldn't know about unless you've talked to somebody that's been there, but word of mouth says it all. I've been there many times with my wife, friends, etc. and recommend it to anyone that happens to be in the area. It's their sauce that makes it...very tasty, pizza to die for, and then the homemade spaghetti and meatballs...fantastic. Can't say enough about the food...totally great. Be careful on Saturday nights as it gets VERY busy. I like to go when it's a little less hectic, such as on a Sunday or a Friday afternoon after work, but anytime you can get there will be a memorable one. Their homemade pasta is great. Their one of a kind pasta sauce is light and delicious, without all those unneccessary chunks and pieces you usually find in homemade sauces. Their meatballs and lasagne are also delicious. Pros: Affordable, Delicious, Not Crowded more

This restaurant has real home cooking that is friendly, clean and affordable. more
