I am not new to massages, but my experience was not at all relaxing. I talk to people all day long and went to get a massage where she ended up talking to me for the whole hour and a half!!! She had the lights on all the way. It took everything in me not to say "shut up" I don't care about your failing marriage! Just give me a massage and let me relax! I will never ever go back there again. EVER!! I suggest that you don't waste your money unless you don't mind someone talking to you about their whole life story. I am a old client of Therapeutic Effects since 1993. I have been to several massage therapist at TEM and have had good experiences with all. The best thing about this company is that most of their massage therapist has been there more than five years. I have had most of the services offered including hydro tubs,spa treatments and even purchased gift certificates. If you are looking for a deep massage go to Lana or Franklin or Tasha. These seem to be the best for deep. I believe they now have 7 massage therapist. My wife suffered a lot of discomfort from pregnancy. I sent her for prenatal massage. That was a life saver for her. I went to Therapeutic Effects for my birthday. A friend has gone to them for years and had recommended them to me. I had the "day at the spa" package and it was wonderful!!! I started with a mineral soak, then I went into my massage with Michael, I then had an organic face treatment with Cindy and an Algae body wrap. Let me tell you......by the time I left, I felt like a wet noodle. Everyone there was completely professional and treated me like a "princess." I will recommend them to everyone I know. I am the manager of Therapeutic Effects Massage and myself and the owners are responding to the previous negative remark in regards to Mike and Franklin. The previous comments made by the user "Anna" are completely untrue. Anna's review was written on December 25, 2008 and Franklin was out of town a few days previous to Christmas and did not return to work until December 30th. He has not given a massage to anyone named "Anna." We searched his schedule for several months back and we cannot seem to find this person so we believe she does not exist and that our competitors are creating false identities and adding negative comments. We also noticed that on our competitor's reviews had a "positive" comment added for them the very exact same time and date of our negative one. We have been in business since 1993 and have recently renovated our office and massage rooms so there is nothing gloomy about our facilities. Please be our guest and come in and visit our office and take a tour. We would like to extend a $10 savings on our massages on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to check our our office to all new clientele and any of our existing clientele. I had a massage here from Franklin and it was awful! Not only did he not listen to what I wanted in a massage, he made me feel uncomfortable. He was stretching my legs and the sheet kept slipping and I kept trying to put it back in place. His motions and placement of his body during the massage was inappropriate. I have had massages for over 30 years and never felt this uncomfortable in my life! YUCK! I will NOT return to this place, It was disgusting and gloomy. The other guy Michael was at the front desk when I was checking out and he was trying to talk to me...is he all there? I come for a massage to get destressed, not stressed out!! I came into this office looking for a facial, not a face cleaning. The young girl who did my facial barely touched my face and did an unprofessional, poor job. She could not even answer my questions about the facial. She seemed to be very unknowledgeable about skin care. I felt like she was poking me when she applied face products to my face. I actually looked at the products she was using after she left the room and she actually used a line from "Sally's!!!!!" She charged me $70 for something I could have done from home. I've been coming to this office for about 3 or 4 years now. In the last 13 years I've been in two horrible rear end collisions leaving me with consistant back and neck problems. This website gives so much good information for the client looking for a great deal. Sometimes this information is somewhat negative and can a real eye-opener for business owners. This is the case for the Therapeutic Effects Massage office. The previous comments about the office manager's attitude were true. Upon reading the comments, the office manager's position was terminated immediately. The owners, Franklin and Michael, have hired a new office manager. This manager is definitely more customer friendly to the clients and the atmosphere is once again back to being completely relaxed. I have been a customer of Therapeutic Effects for about 10 or 11 years. I am one of the original customers that came in shortly after they opened in Mt. Juliet and then moved to Hermitage. I feel that I have been treated professionally by the staff until recently. I have had a couple of bad experiences recently with the new office personnel. There is an older woman that works the front desk that makes me feel like I am wasting her time when I come in for my appointment. She has made several snide remarks to me and other customers. She has rolled her eyes in disgust when another customer walked in and asked some information. She seemed as if it was beneth her to answer the questions and be helpful to customers. She has also repremanded another employees in front of customers and this disgusts me. I think the owners need to have a more professional looking person working their front desk. Not to be downright mean...but this woman actually looks like a homeless person that they have hired off the streets. This woman coughed all over the place when I have been in the office and I just hope she does not have tuberculosis or some other disease. I have visited Therapeutic Effects for almost a year now. I go about once a month for a massage. This past weekend i had their Chocolate/Exfoliating wrap. OMG its awesome - well worth it. Carol is absolutely the BEST! The only other person i have had give me a massage is Lana, and she is great too! My visit was more stressful than relaxing. I truly felt more stressed upon leaving. I'm not new to massage and understand the varying types and degree of massage. What I received was uncomfortable and painful. I did express this to my therapist but my concerns fell upon deaf ears. * I rec'd 2 gift certificates and after my first experience decided not to use the 2nd one, BUT now I've decided to use it........BUT with a different therapist. I have never been so relaxed in my entire life! Although I have had several massages by one of their therapists, and greatly enjoyed each one, I was taken to new levels of bliss with the combo of a massage, hydrobath, and parafango wrap. The atmosphere was perfectly serene, the therapists were professional, knowledgeable and incredible talented. I'm not sure if these other reviewers did not specify that they did not want the knots worked out, if they did not drink enough water to help flush out the toxins that were broken up, or if they were too timid to let their therapist know that they would like less pressure (the therapist is not a mind reader), but I have NEVER had a bad experience there and would NEVER consider going to any other spa!
