This hotel is great. Room was large with excellent facilities including free Wifi which worked! Room was also clean, bed very comfortable with free parking at your door. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The big plus is it's location - within walking distance of downtown Monterey which has great coffee shops through to excellent quality restaurants. Would definitely stay here again if I was in Monterey, which we loved visiting. more

All the rooms have been upgraded and are comfortable. Still a trip back in time when you drive up your mind flashes back to the days when you arrive with mom/dad in the station wagon, they check in and kids make a bee line for the pool!! Rooms are small but very comfortable, new paint, carpet, furniture, pillowtop mattress. Rooms are wi'fi'ed with a very strong connection. Staff friendly and knowledgible. When we arrived office attendent let me park overnite in the managers parking space. Very convienent to downtown/wharf, 12 min walk. Lots of shopping and fine dining within walking distance. If your really hungry..Denny's is right across the street. Standard continental breakfast (Bear bites), coffee, tea, hot chochlate avail 24 hrs. Rooms are thermostacally controlled so A/C & Heat cycle like at home. No drone of a fan running constently. Room has a lounge chair & ottoman, to enjoy TV, w/o just lying on the bed. Bathrooms are SMALL!!!!, one person at a time. Showers.. munchikin like.. If your 5'9"""" you will need to drop your head to get wet... People must of been smaller 50 yrs ago!! Property appears to be secure, common sense dictates you lock your car .. They do offer underground parking. For the value I don't think you can beat this property... Kick back and enjoy your stay more

Good location close to most things, walking distance to the peer. Small, quite dark room, but it was clean and with to queen size beds. Very small but clean bathroom and a friendly staff. The included breakfast was ok.\r Small but heated swimming pool, always very appreciated by the kids. more

We were able to walk to fisherman's wharf, which was a really nice walk with boutiques and nice restaurants along the way. I will def. be staying here again. more

The rooms were nice and clean. Walking distance to the Wharf and there is an free trolley two blocks away that will take you to Cannery row and the Monterey fish Aquariam. more

Nice location in Monterey. We booked on a weekend when there was an event happening so things were busy. Check in/out was easy and staff was helpful. Noise from rooms next door was noticeable. Breakfast was what you expect. Free wifi. Rooms were clean. A basic place to sleep while traveling. Underground parking was a tight fit but free. more

We were only here one night, and didn't want to spend too much since we knew we'd be out of the room a lot. The room was very clean, and the bedroom had updated decor. The bathroom was small (only a stall shower) and somewhat dated. Since this is a motel, the window opens to the walkway so it's not really possible to open the curtains and also have a moderate amount of privacy. The hotel staff were very friendly and nice. There is a Trader Joe's about a block away and the hotel is a short walk from the bay and downtown restaurants, the convention center, etc. more

Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and we were able to walk to the Custom House Garage (about 10 minutes) to get the bus in the morning to the race start. Also, we were just down the street from the Del Monte shopping center where there was a Whole Foods, a pharmacy, a P.F. Chang's, and other restaurants. I would also recommend The Wild Plum right next to the Denny's across the street from the Travelodge. It's a little expensive, but they've got a great veggie burger. Oh, our room had a mini-fridge, too, and was just down the street from a Peet's Coffee & Tea, and only a few blocks from the Convention Center for the Expo. more

I've stayed at the Monterey Downtown Travelodge twice and experienced terrific, attentive service each time. The front desk staff is very helpful and efficient. The location is convenient and the furnishings and decor are the very best of any Travelodge I have ever seen. more

I had mixed feelings about choosing this motel after reading other reviews here... but in the end i am really glad we did!! My family and i stayed for 2 nights and were very pleased! The room was nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The breakfast offered each morning included 2 kinds of cereal, oatmeal, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, 3 kinds of juice, toast, and a variety of muffins. \r Overall this was a great place for a weekend getaway and we will visit again the next time we are in town :0) more

Wow! While others in our wedding party stayed at fancy hotels we chose Travelodge for no nonsense value. It exceeded our expectations. The room was modern and clean with a nostalgic feel. The continental breakfast was very good. My family and I loved the hard boiled eggs and eating at the bistro tables outside. There were many folks from Europe and Canada staying there making the feel even more special! Trader Joe's and Wild Plum are great places close by. more
