The Reserve at Gateway has been the worst renting experience of my life. We live in a first floor apartment and can hear our neighbors all the time. We can hear their dogs run through their apartment, we can hear them actually urinate, talk and hear their every move. You can also hear everything going on outside. You can hear all the yard work being done, the mail man delivering mail, cars and everything. The windows are single pain so they let in all noise, heat and cold. They also sweat excessively causing mold around them. We have had mold around the windows, mold in the ceiling in the bathroom and above the door in the entryway. We told the apartment complex and they wipe it off and paint over it. It continues to come back. They gave us a dehumidifier to fix the mold problem and it is so loud we need to shut it off to eat dinner so we can hear each other speak and we have to shut it off to sleep. We have notified the manager several times of the excessive noise it causes and have not got a response. \r
We were told that we have to run our air conditioning constantly to get rid of the mold. We reported numerous leaks in our air conditioner and continual freezing over and were told they fixed it and it continued leaking and freezing. Our air conditioner clogged so bad they used compressed air to move the clog and ended up blowing the dirt clog all over myself, my nine month old son and our kitchen. After I bathed my son and myself I came out to an air conditioner still leaking and maintenance telling me it was fixed. It took me going and crying in the office to get a new air conditioning unit. They put in a new air conditioner and less than a day later the air conditioner didn’t work. They came in and replaced the thermostat knocking three holes in my wall through my linen closet. These holes are still there and not repaired. We had a leak in our ceiling and were told the neighbors had a sweating cooler on the floor that leaked to our apartment and that it would dry up. Days later the smell from it was getting over bearing and it was still wet. We reported it and when we were gone they came in and it looks like spray painted white over it. A note on my door said the stain was dry and that they painted over it. Less than two days later the wet spot grew and odor got worse and we notified them again, we were told the upstairs tenants had a leaking dishwasher and that mixed with their mess from their dogs is leaking through our ceiling. \r
The dishwasher does not work and the dishes come out dirtier then when we put them in. They replaced it with another dishwasher that does not wash dishes. \r
Our son’s room has no light and when we asked the leasing agent about it we were told that they had never heard of Florida apartments providing lights for their tenants. This is untrue every other apartment complex I have talked to provide lights in each room. \r
The layout of the apartment is such that it is very long causing half your apartment to not get heated or cooled. Our back bedroom is freezing in the winter and scorching in the summer. \r
One of the attractions to the apartments is that it is gated, but the gate is broke at least a third of the time. We were told by the manager it is a structural issue in how it was built, it will continue to break and they are not going to permanently fix it. \r
The Reserve at Gateway has given us the option to switch units, but will charge us more. I have never been so disgusted with an apartment complex in my life. I will never rent here again or from another Grey Star community. I am making sure everyone knows how terrible they have been to us. We have a very young child and are living in a molding apartment. My son has trouble napping with the excessive noise. Living here has been a disaster and I encourage everyone to not rent from the Reserve at Gateway or any other Greystar community because this place is awful.
