The Reef

Reef is a fun restaurant, with an island decor that can almost make you feel like you aren't in Boise for a while (if you aren't bundled up in a jacket). Make sure and eat out on the balcony during sunset in the summer to get the most out of the experience! As far as the food....this is where things get mediocre. When they first opened, they had a huge menu of unique island fusion dishes. However, they quickly downsized the menu, keeping a few of the more unusual items, but focusing more on the typical burgers and chicken sandwiches. Despite my disappointment, some of my favorite dishes did remain on the menu, including a delicious ahi tuna in a sugarcane sauce, and a crab quesadilla that is to die for! Anyway, the restaurant is off to a good start, but Boise has to wait a while before we get a true island fusion restaurant. more

Reef has unique food for little ol' landlocked Boise. The menu ranges from sandwiches to grilled fish all with a Southern Pacific flair. Generally the menu is a bit expensive, but it's about the same as other resturants in the area. They also offer a range of tropical drinks from the classic mojito (my personal fave) to a zombie that is so strong, you're limited to just one! The only down side is with an ever changing menu, your favorite item might just be the one kicked off. more

Reef is a restaurant located in downtown Boise. Its atmosphere is tropically and they even have tables set up so you can eat outside on the roof when it's warm out. The food is really good and they have a variety of dishes such as salads, fish, sandwiches, and my personal favorite, carne asada. The prices are pretty good usually about $8-$15 depending on what you're getting. My only complaint is that while the chairs look good with the theme they are not the most comfortable around. more
