Really bad experience 5/30/2010

Started out great with the bell hop and the elevator servicers. I will also say that the hotel is very pretty. Pros: Was pretty Cons: Was stalked and harassed by staff more

OK Rooms, but Great Spa 4/22/2010

I am a regular guest at the Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and Aman properties and without the amazing spa this resort would only be on the map due to it's previous owners, the Vanderbilts. The hotel has seen better days and we were very unimpressed with the room's size and quality. The guests at this establishment are mainly retired citizens and the staff pays more attention to the surnames of their guests than their comfort. We decided to visit the Piano Bar in the evening where the music consisted of Elton John classics and other oldies. The drinks weren't well mixed and it took a half hour for a hostess to come to the table. There are much nicer properties nearby and if you want a true five star resort, stay at the Inn on the Biltmore. Pros: Excellent Spa Treatments Cons: Poor Quality Rooms; Overpriced and Stuffy more

Grove Park Inn has a wonderful birdhouse contest! 9/30/2009

I love joining their birdhouse contest with my clients! They are very receptive to the birdhouses we bring in and make us feel very special for creating the work of art! more

Grove Park Inn is world class 9/30/2009

We're locals and love to visit GPI for a drink or a night at the piano bar. My husband and I eat at the Blue Ridge Dinning room every Christmas Eve and of course we go see the gingerbread houses! We've been fortunate enough to spend a day at the spa too, and it was fabulous!! Definitely the prettiest spa I've ever seen! more

pure luxury 12/1/2008

If you haven't pampered yourself with a massage at the Grove Park Inn, then you are certainly missing out on one of the jewels of North Carolina. The Spa at Grove Park has been recognized all around the world. This is just one of the many reasons to visit Asheville. more

Fantastic 12/1/2008

My wife and I treated our family to the "Thanksgiving Package", 5 adults and 2 children. This is NOT Motel 6. Words could not possibly be sufficient to describe the experience. I have never seen so many happy hotel employees in my life. We were treated like royalty. The restaurants were all fantastic as was the entertainment. Though I have never been on a cruise, based on the description of cruise experiences from others this is like being on a cruise without the ocean. Even with the economy the way it is, the place was booked, yet plenty of room to move around. You must try this place, but make sure that it is for more than one night. We enjoyed four nights and probably would have stayed for longer where it not for having to go back to work. Pros: Parking at room level more

Grove Park Inn 8/18/2008

This was one of the nicest parts about our trip to Asheville. I loved the Grove Park Inn. We stayed in one of the remodeled rooms in the main building and it was beautiful. The lobby is from another time and place with its huge fireplace and rocking chairs. We found a special price on the Internet and the price was great. I can't wait to come back again. more

Amazing, simply amazing 6/22/2008

The best resort I have been to in years. They have the most breathtaking views and courteous staff. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay. They also host an amazing gingerbread house exhibit each winter that is a must see. Highly recommended! more

Yummy Spa Day! 6/16/2008

I loved my day at the spa. Plan on having a whole day to swim in the waterfall pools, have a drink delivered in the jacuzzi, lunch by the fireplace, relaxation in the steam room, sauna and cold plunge. Treat yourself to a massage and then sit by the fire in the secluded and peaceful after-treatment area. Really lovely grotto feel, great for a romantic get away, spa day with your girlfriends or just some peaceful time for yourself. more

Must stay 3/30/2008

If your the type of person who worries about "prices" then this is not your place to come. But we only live once and you should go ahead and make reservations and stay! The food at the Grove Park Inn is just absolutely wonderful. Serving a Sunday Brunch that I would gladly pay more if asked. :) Service is wonderful. This is a once in a lifetime place - so go and enjoy. more

Beautiful scenery 12/23/2007

The Grove Park Inn in Asheville NC is truly an elegant and resplendent resort nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina providing world class service with the friendly mannerisms of a small town. When we went there we were greeted by everyone with smiles and polite words and made to feel like we were kings returning to our castle after many years aways abroad. By the end of the our weekend stay, most of the staff knew us by our first names. \r \r The rooms are very comfortable, the food exquisitely prepared and the service exceedingly well orchestrated. I loved to go out at night and walk around breathing the fresh mountain air and enjoying the quietude of mountain life where we couldn't hear cars or the the other other industrial noise pollution plaguing city life.\r \r If you want to escape from the doldrums of city life, head to the mountains of North Carolina and stop by the Grove Park Inn. It was a truly memorable experience for me. more

Timeless 2/10/2006

Before December 2005, the last time I'd been to the Grove Park Inn was twenty years ago. Except for the spa, it seemed as if nothing had changed. And that's a good thing. Unlike the other reviewer, we were in a tiny room with an obstructed view, right next to the spa. Who cares? Who spends time in the room in a resort like this? Plus, just to let you know, in case you are traveling with an infant like we were, the GPI has really nice wooden cribs. And, I think the reason we were given the room we were is that we had no neighbors, which is wonderful when you have a loud baby.\r It being December, the whole place was decorated for Christmas, with Christmas trees and gingerbread houses everywhere. At night, there was a roaring fire in the gigantic fireplace, with rocking chairs set up in front of it, for a nice drink in the evening. During the day, there were singers and dancing bears (people in costumes) for children's sing-alongs.\r Also, if you want a small, quiet place to g more

Cannot say enough good, wish to stay longer 10/11/2005

I wish we'd have had more than 4 days here. It really is a lovely hotel. Our suite very comfortably slept 4, and we would have had room to throw a party for about 30 in there. I loved, loved, loved watching the sun sink down between the mountains...really beautiful you could actually count it down while bathed in it's light on the back (heated) outdoor porch. Especially a wonderful experience with an Irish coffee in your hand as well...or whatever from the full bar. The spa was amazing, and truly unbelieveable. You walk in and change, and then you can wait for your therapist in the grotto. This place defies description, really. The heated mineral pool is so well thought out, they've even piped the music under the water so you can hear it as you float on your back and look out the skylight. Wonderful treatments, and the contrast bath is not to be missed. Will DEFINITLY wake you up! I would go back in half a heartbeat. more

Grove Park Inn Review 3/28/2004

I stay at The Grove Park Inn (usually 2-5 days) as an ocassional stress-free get-away. The service and accomodations are stellar and the serene ambiance meets my needs for recouping from life's daily challenges. The staff are very serious in assuring their guests are well-cared for and often go beyond the call of duty. Pros: Excellent Service, Valet Parking, Wonderful Amenities Cons: , n/a, n/a more

A Wonderous Resort 10/16/2002

The view was so beautiful and peaceful. What was so appealing was the lobby. So huge with big fire places and lots of seating around and a bar that was very neat. You actually felt as if you have stop and went back to another world. The atmosphere is nostalgic. The rooms are furnished with antiques and the beds are great. I could really do a write up on the spa, so unbelieveable you would have to see it to believe it. It is like being in a Greek Palace. All the waterfalls in the hot tubs and it is all all built of rocks and built underground. There is music pumped in under the mineral pool and the steam room is great with the peppermint towels to go around your neck. . Lots of movie stars have stayed here so you might just see on in the lobby. Pros: exclusive, atmosphere Cons: expensive more
